I'm English. Live in England. Will I ever make thanksgiving dinner? No. Did I watch this video till the end? Yes! Will I be using the potato hack every Sunday for Sunday lunch? Yes! Another brilliant video of Rachel being unapologetically herself!
For the cooler hack, to keep foods hot pour boiling water in the cooler then drain it and line with foil and keep closed as much as possible. We used to have around 50 people at Thanksgiving it works
Another tip with instant mashed potatos: potato soup (dice potatos boiled in water with seasonings, veggies, and meat, [i use ground beef]) if you add just a bit of potato flakes into the water it will add a bit of flavor but also thicken up the soup just a bit so it's not just water lol there are of course fancier recipes out there that use cream and stuff but for a basic soup on a budget, the flakes really make a difference! 😊 *Just dont add too much, or you'll just have actual mashed potatoes! 😂*
We are definitely going to try the corkscrew peeling trick for the mashed potatoes and also for peeling the apples for apple crisp! No more nicked knuckles!
When my mom makes mashed potatoes, she always added instant to the water after the potatoes were boiled because she would say after you boil the potatoes, the vitamins are all in the water and she didn't want to lose the vitamins.
I had to ask chatgpt about the mashed potatoes in the foil lined cooler bc I also don't understand why it didn't work bc it makes so much sense in theory. Here is what it had to say: 'The mashed potatoes on the counter may feel warmer because they are in direct contact with ambient air that slows down heat loss, whereas the cooler, once sealed, keeps the food isolated and retains its internal conditions, which could end up cooler than the room.' Idk if I agree but I guess it still makes sense
Tell me you’ve never cooked butternut squash without telling me you’ve never cooked butternut squash. Lol maybe some people cut it that way, but I’ve always cut the top and bottom off. Then you slice it in half lengthwise. Scoop out the innards. And then roast the two halves.
@ what part of that was rude? Also for anyone who regularly watches Rachel, it’s common knowledge that she is not one who cooks, so she probably just didn’t know. I just found it a little funny.
This might just be a poor people "hack" but my ma has never believed in putting leftovers in containers, instead everything gets put in a storage bag. How much is left is what determines bag size and the bags barely take up room in fridge. Its tacky but genius at the same time! 🤣🤣👍🏻
My mom has always made her own mashed potatoes my entire life. I hadn’t ever tried the instant mashed potatoes, until recently, and I love them! Lol. I would rather have those, than homemade. ❤
These are all actually great hacks! I’m also very confused by the potatoes not in the cooler being warmer because in theory that definitely should have worked.
Rachel intentionally messing up her potatoes was even more butternut-s (squash) than simply rolling her butternut squash around to cut it instead of cutting it forcefully with a knife (or whatever was invasively in her fridge).

“Stay Awesome Possums” love it!!!!
There’s a throwback
It's been sooo longgg
'Sticks finger into both pans.' I love science. ❤
Your stone counter helped keep the other potatoes warmer. The tin foil/cooler was probably soaking in more of the heat.

I’m not out here washing my chicken… but for the love of all that’s holy, wash your potatoes!!! 😂😂
Poking fingers in the mashed potatoes... genius temperature testing 😂

Okay these cooking hacks are so good and I'm definitely gonna use them Thursday. Thanks for coming in clutch Rachel 🙌🏻

Love this channel, have a good holiday tomorrow with your sister and family Rachel.

The vitamins are mostly in the peel.
@@KatyWatson173 Yes, but her theory was that when she boiled the potatoes, with the peels on, the vitamins leached out of the skin and into the water.

The peeling hack is also safer for kids👍
For the fork method with the potato for peeling: try peeling just one end of the potato, and then stick the fork in the peeled end.

She was testing the hack. She didn't say that's how she does it every time she cooks them. You don't have to be rude.

2:37 we had early thanksgiving and my kid screamed and made me jump and I peeled my thumb knuckle 😅
I loved all of these hacks. Thanks for the awesome video Rachel. I love all of your videos and vlogs. 🥰
I love the beginning of the video. It was a mini history lesson. As a native I appreciate how people actually know what actually happened.
The fact everyone is not using plates on top of bowls to stack things has just blown my mind 🤣
Rachel!!!! 🤣. That thumbnail is scandal. Hahah❤

I feel like you lose more on the sides of the bag? A container you can really scrape out
My mom has always made her own mashed potatoes my entire life. I hadn’t ever tried the instant mashed potatoes, until recently, and I love them! Lol. I would rather have those, than homemade. ❤
Cooling racks, cutting boards, plates all good options
Omg i need this video I’m making thanksgiving myself this year for the first time 😅
Just sprinkle sprinkle dinkle dinkle gobble gobble
Your mash potatoes look delicious and they are making me hungry. Have a good thanksgiving! ❤❤
GREAT Video!!
LOVE the peeling potato hack!! (I do back and forth with carrots NOT potatoes)
You didn't test both potatos before you put one in the cooler.
i definitely think fork > cork screw method. while both worked, the fork got closer and your knuckles weren’t in danger.
Happy thanksgiving week Rachel I love you you’re my favorite ballinger🤩🤩🤩
The back and forth I find is easier with the “Y” shaped peeler and hold it away from you.
I forgot to say I love the new outro 😂😂
Hiiii Rachel you’d amazing I loove these vids
We don’t peel our potatoes as the peel is where the majority of the vitamins are,yes even for mashed we leave the peel on. 💙💙💙🙂🐈⬛🐈💖🌈💙💙💙
“It was rigged”
-Rachel when her potato experiment failed.
😂
Happy early Turkey day to whoever celebrate it.
The sun is a paid actor
@Rachel you might like watching the video Abby Cox made about the history of Thanksgiving 🦃 it learned me that what I thought was wrong 😅
Also if u add to much milk to Ur mash just put it back on the stove for a min and mix it it will thicken up too
My brain thinks to fast. Same
I like the potatoe hack is a great idea. I wonder if it will work with apples 🍎🍏
Gorgeous Rachel I love you!
I sliced my thumb and nail twice peeling potatoes last week. They are slippery little boogers. How did I not think of jabbing a fork in them?! Genius
These are all actually great hacks! I’m also very confused by the potatoes not in the cooler being warmer because in theory that definitely should have worked.
I got a kick out of you putting your fingers in the mashed potatoes to check the temps! Idk if it's cuz I'm ADHD too or what but thank you
STAY AWESOME POSSUMS
STAY AWESOME POSSUMS! 🎉
Those are the very best instant mashed potatoes
You didn’t check the temperature of both of those containers of potatoes when you started you only tested one of them
exactly!!!!!!
Happy Thanksgiving Rachel Ballinger
Happy Thanksgiving!
Why when you were making the mash the shadow of tge tripod looked like the kfc bow tie 😂
Who loves Thanksgiving

Wow im here early!
First comment too!

Rachel, I know you don't eat dairy - but maybe you could do it for girls night... will you and Abbie test making Tini's mac and cheese?
The tiny chopping board was stressing me out! These are some good hacks though!
RACHELLLLLL!! YOU DID NOT TEMPERATURE TEST THE ONE IN THE COOOLERRRR😢
You are correct!!! She only checked one of the containers. Will she see your comment though???
Brandin Stephens Rachel Ballinger

Why do you have a plant in your fridge?
Okay but did the instant mashed potatoes change the taste??
💜💜💜💜💜💜🦃
Couldn't you put those disposable hand warmers under foil?
SO EARLYYYYY
I use a knife to peel, you don’t?
You didn't test the temp of both bowls before you started.
OMG NO WAY SHE LIKED M6 COMMENT
Clicked on then clicked right off….. video way too high pitched and echo is too much…. Do better
