  • Yakima ShowDown Kayak/SUP Side Loader is first load-assist mount to handle both SUPs and kayaks, makes loading and unloading heavy boats and boards a breeze. The lightweight mount tilts down more than two feet from the roof rack, takes on up to 45% of the boat’s weight, then helps gently raise it up to the top of the vehicle. Once loaded it securely cradles your boat or boards for the ride. At only 9.5 kg. it’s super lightweight but built burly enough to wrangle an 36 kg. load. Get yours freaksports.com.au ships AUS wide

    Any idea if the showdown could handle shorter and lighter kayaks? Maybe with the use of the J cradles? It would be on a full-sized truck topper.

    The kayak I'm buying is 35kg, so just fits the weight restriction but is 86cm wide, does anyone know if the Yakima can take that width, their instruction sheet and specifications does not mention it.

    How wide is that kayak? I have a feelfree lure 11.5 and wanted to purchase the yakima showdown don’t know if my kayak will fit on the showdown...any info will help with my decision

      Hi Ariel, apologies for late reply, we only received your notification now. The kayak on the top is 78cm wide, I don't think it'll have issues carrying lure 11.5, if you think it's not suitable, simply take good care of the racks and packaging, and send it back to us for refund :)

    So if you have 2 people to load onto the yakima... why don't you have 2 people load it onto the rack directly?

    • @FreaksportsAu
      @FreaksportsAu  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Thai, the demo was done with one person lifting the kayak and customer absorbing the process, however we do recommend two man lift on any kayaks if there are spare hands around :). If you can assume you're always going to have couple of people available for loading a kayak, sure you don't need ShowDown in that case. The ShowDowns allow for one men lift not going above the shoulder height which helps with heavier kayaks.

    The roof rack and two kayak lift assists literally cost more than the kayaks........lol So 1500mm with around 4" on each end to spare not including the caps which don't count. So 200mm extra.... Next size down is a 1375mm bar. That would leave 38mm each side or 1-1/2" which is still doable.

    Sorry I guess I should have been more specific, I have 60 inch wide yakima jetstream bars and was wondering if two would fit side by side to Cary two kayaks like the chevy 3500 in the video.

    • @FreaksportsAu
      @FreaksportsAu  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      All good :), yes, this particular customer had 1500mm(60") bars and he managed to fit 2 side by side unfortunately the video was done only at the time he got his first kayak :). If you'd like to check out specs, simply jump onto the yakima website and they have a PDF with exact specs, clearance and measurements, so you can do some basic measurements.

      Absolute minimum is a 57" bar to fit 2 yakima's

    What length are your cross bars?

    • @FreaksportsAu
      @FreaksportsAu  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cross bar length isnt important, just need to use thru bars to allow the overhang required to drop the cradle down to put kayak on. Flush bars or aerobars wont have enough overhang.

    Can this carry Hobie Outbacks?

    • @FreaksportsAu
      @FreaksportsAu  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, as long as it's Outback is not over 36kg, you'll be ok as that's max load capacity designed to hold.

    What size crossbars do you have?

    • @FreaksportsAu
      @FreaksportsAu  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Stephen, Thanks for your reply. This was fitted to F250 with 1500mm wide racks. I think they were Rhino Vortex by the looks, however the showdowns will fit most of the roof racks on the market. I hope this helps.
