    G'day Mate. This is an awesome idea I have a back injury that occurred when I was thrown from the back of a Main Battle Tank quite some time back, I've been looking around for options. I found one in a retail store but it costs around A$4,500 (about US$7.500) then there is fitting costs etc. That's a lot of coinage for an old Vet. However your idea looks like its going to help me a lot for the following reasons.
    1. The action required doesn't appear to need lifting a lot of weight.
    2. The Yak appears to go straight on with very little twisting and turning under pressure, yaaay.
    3. The Yak is kept off the rook rack therefore not creating any damage to Yak or rack.
    4. The Yak looks very snug and secure in the cradle.
    So, I 'm going to give this a crack. Thanks a lot for putting this up. I think it's going to save me some pain, swearing and hopefully no hospital bills.
    I just realized that your video is now three years old. How's the cradle going and have you made any modifications that you might like to pass on.
    Mmmmmm Canada its always been on my bucket list but I guess that's out of the question these days. I used to be a Deer Stalker but that's definitely out these days that's why the Yak, got to be keeping out there.

      Still holding up like a champ! Glad I could help, i would build it the same way all over again. Make sure you have marine carpet on there or else it will slide.

    Great job. Currently looking at roof racks or rales to take a HOBIE PA14 on my jeep wrangler. This looks very manageable for me to make .

    Hi! Belated 'Greetings from Texas!'!
    I found this to be very informative! I have a Takoma with a ladder rack that works great for me & my Outback. BUT I have been thinking about getting a Toyota 4-Runner & this video might be just the ticket to rig & load up my Outback on it! Some great ideas and food for thought!
    Thank You! & Have a good day, eh!😃

    Great instructional vid Mig👊🏼. I just used a sweater shirt or towel for sliding my rig up top but it never stays in place, never thought of the yoga mat.

      I suppose it could be done! I had my cradle before getting my Yakima bars, so it could be improved. But in all honesty, this is really easy to load. Thanks for your comment! Cheers

    • @miguelsigouin3033
      @miguelsigouin3033 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Mark, I suggest flipping your kayak upside down and laying your PVC pipe on the bottom. You will have the perfect fit. Rough estimate is 2 x 8'.

    It looks hard. Have you tried adding a winch to your current setup? You can put the winch in your front bumper.
