It's happening whether we like it or not, so as long as I get something out of it-speed, convenience, and ease of use-I'm alright. That bag drop at the parking lot is a fantastic idea.
Parking garages here in Austin have had this "cutting edge" tech for years. Just because it's being used for an airport garage doesnt make it revolutionary.
This is pretty much the same as DFW for the past 20 years, using your toll tag. And the remolded garages like A have the best technology as a frequent flyer by telling me how many parking spaces are available AND green and red lights above parking spaces so I don't have to drive around for 30 minutes prior. Valet and curb check have been there for as long as I remember, but if you are higher status with American or Delta, you want to make sure to go to them directly to get the priority tag anyway. Not really impressed.
Nothing new here. Indianapolis had that parking tech for years. No one used it and it went away. Several airports have bag check in other locations. Florida used to offer it at resorts.
😂 so doing what almost every parking in Belgium does. I just drive up, parking opens, look for a green light to see where the empty spot is. When I leave I don’t have to pay on the spot or even open my window, just drive up and leave. No need to make a reservation. Somebody must have visited Europe and went back to the office on Monday saying, hey guys, I’ve got a great idea 😉
I used this on Sunday Morning. It was quick and easy, however they charge you a $1.00 fee for using this, which I think is a money grab. Rates are high enough without charging a processing fee!
The parking garages associated with my downtown Houston office building have been using a Metropolis "license plate reader" system since January of this year. Once we stumbled through a few (mostly user error) issues, it has been a good system for checking in our contract parkers and guests.
I hope they do that in all parking garage in all airport that would be helpful. I just don't know about the old folks who don't know how to use high tech. Good invention❤. Thank you for doing that!
Portland (PDX) has lights above every parking spot so you can see if there are any open from a distance if it is green. Does San Antonio have indicators that help drivers find a place to park quicker than driving down every row of every level?
Yes, I'd like yet another entity to have a "fingerprint" of me in a database. No doubt they're working with the automakers and their connected vehicle privacy sink...
So…your car license plate and your personal/credit info are registered with the parking garage system? What happens after you sell your car? Does the DMV update the garage system? Does the car seller? The buyer?
This is not the first in US. LAX (Los Angeles International) parking structures and lots already have license plate scanning for years - if you registered your vehicle online first. Although LAX does not have luggage check-in at parking, which is a manual process, not technology, since there is no belts moving lugguage from parking to the airpline directly.
I’ve noticed that many states don’t mandate front license plates. What’s the reasoning behind this? Also, I’m concerned about the potential privacy concerns when our personal information is shared with various businesses. It seems like we’re heading towards a dystopian future where our every move is tracked.
Great so now you can get a text message and an email right away when you've only been there a few hours and your car already left the garage because it was stolen. Sounds like just another reason to have less security
So basic tech thats existed for a long time???? Its just reading your licensplate to lookup your profile in a database and charging your credit card, absolutely nothing new. Wheres the new frontier advancements in technology and AI?
Totally bogus! The parking is filled up with abandoned or stolen vehicles, and people who have a short-term business in the airport have to park far away in the economy lot!
"Once you're in the system, you stay in the system."
That's what George Orwell said.
He was racist
Yea, I'm good. I'll stay tf out of their system.
Wait until you hear about social security numbers and < shiver > names. Horrifying.
It's happening whether we like it or not, so as long as I get something out of it-speed, convenience, and ease of use-I'm alright. That bag drop at the parking lot is a fantastic idea.
LMAO, you are flying in a plane, you are already scanned by the TSA, the airline, and many other entities to get your damn ticket.
Lol my carwash has had this cutting edge tech for years 😂
Lmao, yep. My local Car wash you just drive up, it reads your license plate, gate opens. $20 a month for unlimited washes.
Yeah, this is NOT AI.
car thieves are going to love this system!
Yup. People are going to be getting texts letting them know their car has been stolen.

That bag check kiosk technology has been around for 20 years. What's new is just where it's located.
When you can find one of those bag check in kiosks. They’re not commonplace anymore.
Cutting edge for San Antonio. 😂
That bag is going in the trunk of somebody else’s car 😂

This is old news, we’ve been using this parking technology in Europe a long time ago.
Nothing new here. Indianapolis had that parking tech for years. No one used it and it went away. Several airports have bag check in other locations. Florida used to offer it at resorts.
And to sign up, you have to give them access to all your phone and privacy.......
To bad they can’t fix the traffic and get more direct flights

This is already at multiple airports…
And in next week’s news, stolen license plates and missing cars from San Antonio airport parking garage. 🤔♾️☮️♾️🇺🇸
Did he say "you can relieve yourself in the garage?"
WHen you gotta go, ya gotta go
I am missing something? UK airports have had this technology for years. Wow.
Yes.. you are missing something. UK is not the US
@@bigboomer751 How's your uptake of chip & PIN technology going ?... Caught up with the UK yet ?
@@andrewmonument8847 Pookie died in New Jack City;;; No vote no Vucking
I know, Americans are so funny 😆
UK got a queen. Pathetic
People been “relieving” themselves in parking garages for a very long time 😂

You lost me at $60 a day. My car better be detailed and read a bed time story every night.
Thats for 2 days. In 11/20 and out 11/22, but still crazy price.
I hope they do that in all parking garage in all airport that would be helpful. I just don't know about the old folks who don't know how to use high tech. Good invention❤. Thank you for doing that!
What could possibly go wrong??!
Will the luggage get to the plane ?
no.. they will drive it to the destination via UPS or FedE Ground
It will get to A plane…

The spokesman, Mr. Israel, says this parking system is driven by “frontier technology”. Is he referring to the US frontier of several centuries ago?
So…your car license plate and your personal/credit info are registered with the parking garage system? What happens after you sell your car? Does the DMV update the garage system? Does the car seller? The buyer?
Do they charge an extra service fee or is it the same flat rate?
How will this affect those with handicap placard or plates.

Although LAX does not have luggage check-in at parking, which is a manual process, not technology, since there is no belts moving lugguage from parking to the airpline directly.
I want an “experience” where as if it’s not me in the car, it automatically blows up..lol “your in the system” what could go wrong.

i saw a vending parking machine in japan right across from my hotel
Anyone checking their bag in the parking garage should just expect to have all of their stuff stolen.
It said nothing about DV plates, it’s free.
no more freebies for DV plates
It was only free for handicap placard whether DV or not. We are all SOL.
Poor guy at 1:09 got vaporized 😢
He was 'deleted' from the system.
Innovative
This is old technology here in Korea…
Kool
What could possibly go wrong?
Oh great more tracking by big brother 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
leftist SA concil, myor
Lol, "new" technology.
Great so now you can get a text message and an email right away when you've only been there a few hours and your car already left the garage because it was stolen. Sounds like just another reason to have less security
One more way Americans give up their personal details and privacy for convenience.
When you return, you will find you has been stolen.
Parking at SAT sucks. There’s no two ways about it.
Let your license be suspended one time you’re cooked
So basic tech thats existed for a long time???? Its just reading your licensplate to lookup your profile in a database and charging your credit card, absolutely nothing new. Wheres the new frontier advancements in technology and AI?
Oh good more jobs eliminated. No money needed. Cashless society. Bs

I checked,, none the vehicles are stolen or abandoned.
what a lousy idea. Seamlessly taking your money....
