- Today I wanted to do a Penn State Pollock dorm tour for incoming freshman! I remember when I got assigned pollock I was really upset (they’re pretty old and outdated) but it actually ended up working out for the best and I love it here!!💗

I was in Porter Hall my freshman year way back in 2006. The dorms look exactly the same. So much nostalgia.❤

You rock Zoe. I lived in Pollack for three years in the early 90s and loved it, but needed something other than blueprints to convince my incoming Freshman daughter '27 of all the cool features. Signed the contract with Pollack in the #1 spot after this. Well done.

Awesome dorm tour! Gr8 video editing and i like the way u filmed on a bright day for overall better lighting! Do you think not living in east renovated for the first year takes away from college experience? Can you also make a video about on campus jobs?
I definitely think I got a better freshman college experience living in Pollock! I got to know and become friends with a lot of girls on my floor (and that really helped in the beginning of the year). I will also definitely try to make a video about on campus jobs soon!
I just found out I’m going to live in Pollock. I’m still very upset, but this video helped me calm down a little.

Honestly I don’t remember which size my roommate bought, the dorms are pretty small so I would probably go with the smaller size!

Just got into Pollock… there’s a lot more I have to buy now. So I was wondering, where’d you get your bed risers? Also, are we allowed to hang things on the front of the doors?
I got my bed risers from Amazon and they were stackable so you could make them shorter or taller! I don’t remember anyone hanging anything except white board on the front of the doors.

I know you mentioned some rooms having built in shelves and others not, just wondering if you knew about mifflin and if they had built in shelves around the bed or not?

I was in Porter Hall! Some of the dorm rooms look slightly different (some have shelves on the side like mine and some don’t, some have more shelving on top of desks) Overall, they are all very similar!
Hi!! I just got my housing assignment in porter hall and was wondering did a lot of ppl bring window fans to push hot air out of the room?
I had a window fan and it helped SO much! Definitely get one, a lot of people did the same.
does the heating make it super hot in the winter? and do u know if beaver has the built in shelves over the desk
My dorm building itself and the hallways were pretty hot, but not my room. My roommate and I cracked the window sometimes and that helped! I’m not sure if beaver has shelves or not
Hi! This is helpful! Any idea the distance between beds if you put them parallel? I am looking at a short dresser for in between that is 34" wide. Thank you so much!
also, my son is in a small double (601). Do you happen to know if the small doubles have bolsters? Thank you!!
Hi! I think that size for a dresser should be good. I would maybe suggest getting a 3 tier rolling cart instead. I used it for storage as well as an en table!
If you are in pollock, the bolsters depend on the building you are in. Some have them and some don’t!
How is the temperature in Pollock throughout the year. I am assigned there and I’ve heard the temperature fluctuates drastically throughout the year. This really concerns me because I do not do well in hot temperatures and I get extremely tired in cold temperatures.
Pollock just gets pretty hot the first few weeks back in august and early September. I recommend having 3-4 fans. After those few weeks, they have heating when it gets colder!
did you have to use bed raisers for the middle bit of your bed or just the 4 legs on the ends

My son will be moving into Schulze. Do you know if this building has the bolsters? Trying to decide on a nightstand but don’t know if I should get a narrow one like the cart you have so it fits between his bed and his roommates bolster, or if I can get him one that is wider. Also, do you know the height of the bottom of the bed frame from the floor? I believe he will have the same kind of metal bed frame that you have. I have bed risers but want to get bins that will fit.
@@jroyale2127 I’m not sure if it has bolsters, they are all different with that. I would get the little cart or a plastic 3 drawer bin from Walmart or target! I’m unsure of the height for the bottom of the bed frame to the floor. I got plastic bed risers and was able to fit large plastic storage bins underneath!

What did you hang everything on your walls with?
I used command hooks of all different sizes!
Is single room the best option in Pollock?
Not many people are able to get a single room as a freshman. When single rooms are given out, they're normally for students who need specific accommodations. Most freshman are put into a double with one other roommate!

i just had my nso in pollock, i had one question tho… how do you shower??? i’m literally like a foot taller than the shower head lmfao
honestly, I’m super short so I never had that issue haha but those showers are a big adjustment. I’d say after a week or so everyone figures out a system that works for them!
Talk to the other people on your floor too about it once you’re there, I’m sure there will be others who have the same question^^

The room he was in for Orientation was Ritner- Pollock and it had a big divider inbetween the two desks where your tv is, so he's hoping that not the case for Mifflin. Your video made us feel soooo much better, thanks again!

It’s one huge countertop, with two desks on opposite ends. There are also 2 chairs

@@nicolasgraviano5439 I also wanted east but looking back I’m SO glad I got pollock. It’s a great location, the temperature is just hot the first few weeks back (so bring a few fans). I met amazing people on my floor and had a great experience living there!
@@collegeadvicewithzoe the more people I speak to about it, the more tell me that pollock is heavily overhated and some even prefer it over east. It’s location is unbeatable. The only thing I’m worried about is the heat. Thank you for the reassurance!

Is Pollock all the same gender per floor?
@@cindyd8702 yes! It alternates between female floor and male floor. Beaver hall is co-Ed floors tho, that is the one exception I’m aware of
