Ned's is one of my favorite shows of all time, no joke. It offered real advice that mattered to the audience watching, and was also a hilarious surreal live-action cartoon. It helps that I was the _exact_ age for this show. That is, I went to middle school just as season 1 started airing, and I entered high school just as the last season ended.
I discovered a little while ago the Ned is rather chummy with his bully. Yes, Loomer was the bully, but they had several instances where the two helped each other out. Not as much on Loomer's side but still.
I met the voice actor of Cosmo. Such a sweetheart. He loved talking about this Ned's Declassified more than Fairly Odd Parents. I am sure Nickelodeon abused him during FOP as they abuse everything they have power over.
If it wasn't obvious by the fact that this show also has a beloved janitor. This particular episode about daydreaming absolutely shows just how much love and inspiration this show takes from Scrubs. Not to mention, if you love Ned's or Scrubs, you'll probably love the other.

Very interesting. I don’t daydream but I have had vivid dreams at night that have suggested the solutions to problems I was having, particularly problems relating to my writing. Dreaming at night can be another unconventional source of working through problems and subconsciously learning.
Suddenly I realized how I've always done so well in school thanks to this video reminding me about that 1 line from this episode of Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide. I was always daydreaming in school, but at the same time I was writing my own poems, songs or stories to make my teachers think that I was taking notes when we weren't told to take notes. My daydreams usually had nothing to do with what I was learning, but by some miracle they still managed to give me the answers that I needed. I learn better when I don't know that I'm learning. I tune out the boring stuff and my mind makes it fun instead. I'm visual and hands on with learning, but I'm also someone who needs to have fun in order to learn.

Fred Savage might actually have been a great choice to be involved with a show like "Ned's Declassified." Some episodes of "The Wonder Years" hit really hard and taught pretty similar life lessons to kids around that same age. Don't know anything about his actual directing skills though lol.
Another aspect of daydreaming that I love is how it strengthens skills that have already been learned while also promoting thought on skills that are underdeveloped or not learned yet! Like when we daydream about, for example, past arguements in the shower, we strengthen underdeveloped communication and logic skills that might have failed us in the moment. It also might help further our understanding and aid in being able to see other perspectives. And it was always really cool to me that Declassified showed this as happening in a school. Because we often daydream in the places we are present in most frequently and have routines in. Showing it as a way to break out of one's normal brain routine to create results rather than frustration was genius! So much of life is tricking our brains into doing stuff and understanding things, and the ways we do that are wildly diverse/different from person to person and situation to situation. I think this way of thinking also applies to kids who doodled in class as well. A lot of my childhood learning was just copying down information, so i would doodle on the sides a lot. I rarely got in trouble thankfully, since I always wrote what I needed to first and participated in class. But once in awhile someone would say something about it. My mom would argue with those people that I'm doing the work and have a good grade, so why should I be allowed to doodle or even read after completing my work or during quiet moments. Plus we hear Gordy to his cosmo, jorgan and anti cosmo voices in a episode too
Great video! This has to be my favorite episode of the show. The Fairly OddParents making a cameo in show does this make sense given this show has to be the most cartoonish live action shows ever.
One of the episodes I remember the most was the one that referenced the Star Wars Kid with Coconut Head going viral throughout the school for being caught on VHS and subsequently being mocked for it. It paralleled the bullying the real kid said he endured after he went viral, and looking back seemed a bit ahead of its time what with it being during dawn of modern internet and meme culture. Still leaves a pretty strong impression especially since nowadays everyone has a camera on them with easy access to social media.
This is really interesting! I personally don’t doodle or listen to music when I am focusing in class, but sometimes have to move my leg or arm to stay focused. You are right, the human brain is a complex thing, and there is so many ways people can learn and it feels enriching. Thank you so much for sharing this with us, stay safe and well, and may beautiful colors fill your world! 🌈❤
Drawing always helped me concentrate during long school days. I had a teacher for four years in three different classes that gave me detention for drawing in his classes while I was one of the best students in his class... Afterwards I did much worse in his classes then the ones where I was allowed to draw. He probably just didn't want me to miss the thrid time he told us the same lenghty story about him and his wife. Luckily he retiered after the four years and I got nicer teachers in the classes he tought.

First off: I just found your Channel are you're super awesome. Second off: I'm 19. Out of school. And genuinely this.... actually helped me understand my autistic brain a bit better. I can't explain how. But it makes sense to me
This was my favorite show as a kid and still in my top 3 today. I love how this show balanced live action and cartooniness similar to what scrubs did and in my head-canon Ned grew up to be JD as they have a similar spirit and are both smart but not always by the book lol
We’ll time to leave a comment when this was broken but be drowned out when they return I wish I saw this episode when I was younger because this would have been really helpful for me to grow up and understand how I like to learn sooner.
I really wish they would’ve made a Ned’s Declassified High School Survival Guide series, or movie with a wacky plot that only Ned’s Declassified could pull off.
This show started when I entered middle school and ended the summer I graduated middle school. I hold this show near and dear to my heart and youth. These type of shows don’t really exist anymore.
I thought this show was underrated in comparison to the other “Dan Schneider” Nick shows at the time. All of the actors were great, and its cartoon-like pacing was hilarious. 😂
I remember I would always watch this to quite literally prepare myself for high school when I was much, much younger. It was nothing like this and I was like “well shit.” 😂 C/O 2017. 🤘
I def was that "Never paying attention kid" who was always writing or drawing. And yet - I had amazing grades. It took a long time and a doctor's note, but I basically got a "so long as the kid isn't disrupting the class, does it REALLY matter if they're not looking you in the eye?" Only had one teacher ever "test" that to PROVE I was a bad student - made me look them in the eye and got on me all the time if I looked away - my grades started to tank because I just couldn't retain the information - they let me go back to drawing. [All other teachers just gave me the "ugh fine, but if you drop below a B- you stop drawing/writing/doodling]
And of course, as a well known fact, Scott Fellows, the showrunner was a writer on Fairly OddParents before he pitched Ned's Declassified to Nick. So it was prolly a nice little throwback for him personally too.
I can actually relate to this episode. During the seventh grade my class was split up into small groups and we competed against each other to win a prize. It was a geological search o different locatiions on a world map with diferent cluses to lead you to the right spot. To make a story short, we were all on the final question and during then I started day dreaming about the question. After a few moments, my day dreaming gave me the answer to the question and I won it for my group.
Not just daydreaming, but drawing too! The things I learned in school stuck with me if I was doing one of those two things. The memories I still have from early school were formed while drawing especially. My grades were good consistently until... basically, they DEMANDED that I not draw. And then my grades tanked.
Devon (the guy who played Ned) is a HANDSOME HUNK OF MAN. I follow him on Instagram and he has aged beautifully. Like, no joke, he is gorgeous AND he can sing
I only saw this scene once, and after a certain period of time I just thought I made this scene up, or it was a fever dream. @@christopherbownes494 WE WAITED SO LONG FOR THAT MOMENT
Honestly I don’t mind hearing more about this show
This was a great show and I miss it.
Not just daydreaming, but drawing too! The things I learned in school stuck with me if I was doing one of those two things. The memories I still have from early school were formed while drawing especially. My grades were good consistently until... basically, they DEMANDED that I not draw. And then my grades tanked.
I think this episode secretly unlocked my akashic records like daydreams I go on when thinking too deeply
Memories will forever be wild to me. And how they don’t only exist so I can remember to feed my cat….they are sooo complicated
LOVED this show. Lol.
But then I saw the Mr Enter's review of Out Of Jimmy's Head, saw that he used footage from this show, saying how it was like a "live action cartoon" and found that this was real.
What a great video, man. Came over from Spawncast. Excellent work, Subscribed!
Thanks so much!!
This show slapped!
In the Netherlands we just said Ned's Survival Gids
I like the drawings, really cool idea!
Please do a long format episode for this show!!!
