      Having experienced this years record aqua alta, I can assure you that the sirens are scary af. They are really, really spooky. The way the audio in the video was mixed makes them seem somewhat nice. But they are not. They freak you out. Just listen to another recording of the sirens.

      ACTUALLY...
      There is the Mose (Moses) project. A system of moving dams of the cost of 5,5 billions, still in developement and that is never going to work because the criminal organizations benefit from that: corrupt politicians will be financing a crooked business to fix a doomed project.
      Look for more videos about tourism in Venice and you'll find out that the city is reshaped as a theme park for tourists, while citzens feel abandoned and leave. Venice is down to 45k citzens now, it was at 120k just 35 years ago.
      Things like this explain why the 5 Stars Movement is governing now: as bad as they are, the hope that they might be honest at heart is enough to support them a lot.

    I was glad when I visited Venice (late November) I didn't have to deal with that. My main concern was pushing my luggage through that to reach to water taxis. Everything inside would get soaked.

    I done that before because the Philippines sewers are blocked because of the trash there so the rain that comes down doesn't go through so it just builds up making a flood and some people go to the sewer taking out the trash so for me that's pretty normal

    The flooding is kind of a blessing in disguise. They have to plan for it so chairs and stuff like that are more secure. The water sort of washes everything down. That may not be the best for the environment but hey...sure looks clean doesn't it?

    I think a synthetic lake is possible, by what they showed on that map of the water,
    it looks like it would be so easy to simply take a few dozen ships and dump sand in those three inlets.

    I am Venetian and can ensure you that the sirens are NOT peaceful as portrayed in this video audio AT ALL. They are scary as hell and sounds like war is coming. Hate them.

    Everyone is saying that the siren is peaceful but it sounds like it is just because of the background music. I live in Venice and go to school there. Hearing the siren at 7 in the morning with a freezing temperature and a gray weather feels not so peaceful ahah. Me and my classmates always feel like we are in a post apocalyptic situation

      cidertom Why would you need sirens? It doesn't take two minutes for the water to raise in level, when you see that the canal just outside you house's door raisen you know you gotta look for your boots and pick up what's on the floor

      Sirens are activated many hours before the water lavel increase. The activation is based on prevision calculated by the Nation Council of Reserch which provide to share forecast alert in all of italian territory

      MahvvenBlu not really... I lost my phone twice in the water last year when I was in vaporetto, so I had to buy a new one twice
