J adorais cette chanson quand j étais tout petit !!! lorsqu elle passait à la radio . Je suis trop content car je ne connaissais pas le titre et je viens de la retrouver dans un concert de Joan Baez à Paris !
I was born in the 90s and discovered her music in my early 20s. I wish there were words to describe the way my life changed since then and how I started to dig into the 60s and 70s music and discovered 8 out of my 10 favourite songs of all times. Of course, Diamonds and Rust tops. Sometimes it`s her version of Dar Williams` February. Sometimes is Case of You by Joni Mitchell. Or River. What can I say, "I`m as constant as a Northern Star". Her influence in everything that happened after she became famous is just massive. I guess there`s a little piece of Joan in almost everything we`ve listened to in the last few decades and that`s something we should all be grateful for.
First saw Joan in 1964, so this song is a very moving song for me.

I love this song because it is a very good song and also because I was 20 at that time, still on college and this was the only Joan Baez' song we could find into juxboxes in french bars at that time, so I spent the few coins I had listening to her and compelling my friends to listen to her too over and over again!

We're the Children of the Eighties. Haven't we grown? We're tender as a lotus and we're tougher than a stone. And the Age of our Innocence is somewhere in the garden. We like the music of the sixties. It's the Rolling Stones, the Beatles and the Doors. Flower children, Woodstock and the war. Ah but it's getting harder to deceive us, And we don't care if Dylan's gone to Jesus. Jimmy Hendrix is playing on. We know Janis Joplin was the rose. Ah but all the stuff that she put in her arm, We're not alarmed. We are the Children of the Eighties. Haven't we grown? (chorus..) Some of us are the Sisters and the Brothers, who take a leather jacket and a single golden earring, Hang out at discos, rock shows, lose our hearing, Take uppers, downers, blues and reds and yellows. Our brains are turning to jello. We are looking forward to the days, When we live inside of a purple haze, And the salvation of the soul is Rock and Roll. We are the Children of the Eighties. Haven't we grown? (chorus..) Recently have you looked in our eyes? Maybe we're your conscience in disguise. We're well informed and we are wise. Please stop telling us lies. We know Afganistan's invaded, And we know El Salvador's dictated. Ah but our lives are just begun, We are the Warriors of the Sun. We're the Golden Boys and the Golden Girls, For a better world. We are the Children of the Eighties. Haven't we grown? We're tender as a lotus and we're tougher than a stone. And the Age of our Innocence is somewhere, somewhere in the garden.
We don't care if than went to Jesus? Offensive, you should too, except not thru false Protestant sects, but thru one true church, Roman Catholic church , founded by Jesus, God Himself
why isn`t here a laugh reaction option? This is ridiculous. You didn`t get the context of those lyrics in the song and what they mean in fact. It`s all metaphorical. And religion is all about love. Why are people constantly making it about hate?!? I don`t think God needs to be defended and especially not with hate comments. :)
Très belle voix , trop belle chanson . ❤😮❤😮

The Garden of Eden.

Oh, and Jesus is not God himself, it`s his spiritual child. That`s what all the religions say :)
"care if Dylan's gone to Jesus"
Bob Dylan adopted Christianity, after deep experiences near the end of the 1970s.
