Peonies are gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your knowledge on how to know when to buy/cut them and how to properly care for them. They are absolutely beautiful. Cheers!
Very good information. I’m near Washington, DC and I just dug up my peony tubers to move some to another area. I always wait for them to open but now I’m going to start cutting them at the “marshmallow stage“. Thank you!
They are so beautiful. Mine are just growing 3” now. They seem to be happy in a semi shaded area than when out in the open and this time, there are no pest messing with them. They are protected from the rain. Last year, the rain took the life out of the new buds. I am happy they are healthy.
For years I thought they were pronounced "Pee Oh Knees". I'm a New Yorker so I guess I overheard another New Yawker say it with a heavy accent and it stuck with me for all these years, lol. Beautiful arrangements and great video!!
You're making me laugh since i'm a New Yorker too born and raised on Long Islan and chances are my New York accent may not be doing this peony pronunciation justice. We always pronounced them the way i say them in the video but i also hear them pronounced Pee Oh Knees. i even watched videos on youtube to see the correct way and hear both. Which part of NY are you from ?
@@KellyLehman I knew it! I had a feeling you were a Long Island native at one time. I live in Bethpage, Long Island but grew up in Queens, NY. I lived on the Queens/Brooklyn border when I was a child so I picked up a heavy Brooklynese accent. Where on Long Island did you come from! Now I know why I liked you ; )
Future's Past Love it . My Dad worked for Grumman in Bethpage for many years. “No sleep till Brooklynnnn” !😁 Love the accents of Brooklyn and Queens when I hear them . Feels like home 😄.
@@KellyLehman I live a couple of blocks from where your dad worked on the opposite side of Grumman by North Wantagh Ave and Hicksville Rd. It's a small world! I love that you quoted a Beastie Boys song! I LOVED The Beastie Boys back in the day. It is so nice talking to you!
These are BEAUTIFUL! I want some of these in my room 😍Would love some tips on arrangements when choosing in the store as well. I've started buying flowers at trader joes each week (not the best I know -- but so convenient) and it'd be a fun video idea to go into a store like that and show how to choose your own arrangement with whatever they have.
Hi just had you in my feed. I have several Peony plants, 3 date back to the early 80's when my mom planted them. I bought a few of the Sarah Bernhardt some yrs ago, just wondering why they would bloom beautifully then have only 1 bloom the next.? Thanks
Hey Wende, your peonies may have gotten their new spring buds frozen off by a late winter zap or maybe they were over fertilized with too much nitrogen which can inhibit peony bloom growth .Also make sure they are not planted deeper then one or two inches deep and that mulch is not covering the crown . Fingers crossed for beautiful peony blooms in your spring garden this year.
@@KellyLehman Thanks for the info, if winter is to blame they may not do well this yr. I'm on Md's eastern shore, rare really cold end of winter here. One yr my brother put his pigeon poo on mom's garden, I think the early Iris bloomed and that was it.
Hi April , thank you for your great flower Question . You can add a few drops of clorox or vinegar to kill the bacteria that may grow in a flower vase instead of the vodka .
BEAUTIFUL!!!! I want to store them in the fridge for 6 weeks, can you give me some tips for that? I know I have to cut them when the buds are showing some color and are soft like a marshmallow. I have some problems wrapping them ? Some tips for that? Thank you
Thank you 🤗🌸 To make the peonies bloom later , cut them in the marshmallow stage and do not put them in water . Loosely wrap them in newspaper or craft paper and store in the fridge away from fruits and veggies . ( these can give off gases that the peony flowers don’t like ) . When you are ready for your peonies to bloom , take them out if the fridge and cut the stems one or two inches from the Bottom and place in room temp water . The peony flowers should begin to open within a day or two . 🌸💕
Yes some seem more Sara Bernhardty then others . I suspected some may have been hybrids when they bloomed . I bought loads of them in the green leaf stage when they were tiny . 🌸🤗
Hi Pricilla 👋🌸. Do you mean they don’t have blooms? If so, they may either be young plants that need a few years to produce blooms or they may be planted too deep. It they have more the 2 inches of souls above the crown , they may not bloom . If this is the case , wait until the end of fall, dig them up and replant with only 2 inches of soil above the crown ( the spot where the stems come from) in the meantime , leave the stems in leaves in place . They will die back on their own in fall 🌸🌸
Love peonies but haven't grown my own yet. Love these tips- especially the marshmallow stage! Found you via TH-cam for Bosses and am excited to watch your next videos! Sharing with my peony loving friends! and omg your pup is adorable- how old is your bernese?

What can you add to the water for antibacterial purposes other than vodka? Is there a non-alcohol substitute?

How can you ensure most of the ants are off the buds before bringing inside?
Hi friend good evening how are you doing over there im sure you must be doing great and hope my little 'Hi' can put smile on your face😊

Is there a little something I can do to revive my sad (a little wilted 🥀) peonies.
How do you process them when cutting them.
It’s the end of June. What do I do with Peonies that doesn’t even have bulbs??

Hi Aleesha, yes Lucy often sleeps on the job. She like a big snoring bear in the flower field 🌸😊

Wish they can bloom all year round after about a week it seems to be as a weed
I know . They are so gorgeous but the season is so short for these gals.
