      @adamwest3266 personally I wouldn't say that about Pixel Dan. He has fairly critiques for years. He generally has more of a upbeat attitude, and comes off a sounding positive. Even though when you actually pay attention to what he is saying, it's negative. Reminds me of an old tactic call "build, break, build"

    • @collectorshideout3213
      @collectorshideout3213 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @adamwest3266 you typed a whole lot, to just say you are upset your memory isn't great. I was born in 84 and can remember things from 87/88. Hell, remember picking out a clawful in toys r us. So it's not possible the figure he got was on the shelf in 1986, when he would have been 4/5? Cool...

    • @collectorshideout3213
      @collectorshideout3213 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @adamwest3266 and here you are arguing something that wasn't said. We are 80s babies and 90s kids. Absolutely logical. Still, I Absolutely remember stuff from 87/88. Hell, I started kindergarten at 4 years old.
      We get it, you don't like us. No problem, that's your own personal issue. A odd one, but yours nonetheless.
      Would love if you could supply the video where pixel dan says he remembers finding it in 1983 when it first came out. As stated, I remember picking out clawful in toys r us. He came out in 1984. So, obviously I got him around 87/88. I'm assuming the same thing with pixel dan.
      Ohhhhh "hurt feelings" , lol. That's classic. I see where this is going. So unless you have something of substance to add to this, I'm good on responding. Unless I get bored during lunch or something.

      @Chalor. 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      As someone who's been an action figure addict since the mid-90s, you do indeed have a problem man. I mean really, just with the Turtles merch. I totally get it that when some new and awesome stuff gets in your hands, your automatic reflex tells you to buy *ALL* the new stuff (and maybe some not so new stuff).
      That kinda thing leads to existential financial disappointment, wondering if you're a hoarder, contemplating on how much do you really appreciate the stuff and how necessary it is for the collection, then feeling burnt out and overwhelmed. That last stage can be the worst with possibly lowering your appreciation with what you have, because it ends up feeling like (to coin a drug phrase) a dragon you're always chasing.

      Oh my god man...I've been traveling down that long road for years with wanting to downgrade. The goal was if I buy 1 new thing, I sell off 1 old thing. In reality-land, it's like every 40 things I buy, I sell off 1 thing. Just too many properties I'm super into, and they're all coming out with profound shit.
      Not a week goes by where I'm not milling over my collection (at least the stuff I can see without digging through stuff); trying to find items I'd be "okay" with parting with. The main thing I can always do with less of is hasbro (Marvel Legends) figures. They feel like overpriced bubble gum trading cards; and you always know they're going to come out with a new version, then another, and another, etc.

    Sofubi were once rack toys really cheap blow molded godzilla monsters with maybe five points of articulation. Now its become a part of the expensive art toy scene, where toy designers are both trying to capture the nostalgia of those humble toys, and make a captivating colorful art piece people associate with their house style.
    Sure it does not have a lot of articulation or features, but it might grow on you in a office display, its nice to appreciate while going through your routine.

    Unless it is produced by hand in a Japanese soft vinyl factory- they are just capitalizing on the Sofubi phrase. Molds and manufacturing are super expensive to produce for soft vinyl toys and a artist who wants to make a limited run of figures can justify a $250 price tag because they aren't going to make much on the back end of production. Highly produced, licensed stuff like this should absolutely not go for this much

    you could always sell it too someone if you dont like it and the Krang can be repainted its a good android body

    Just picked up their Mazinger Z vinyl and… I’m positively torn. Probably the largest Mazinger I’m likely to ever find… but it’s just not worth the price tag. And I paid a good deal more than Krang for that chunk of plastic! All this just to say, I feel you brother.

    I think it looks great.. but the price point just isnt there for me. Also, i think stress ball krang is squishy so you can take him out. So i atleast see why that decision was made

    Yeah... I bought the Bulkyz Raphael back in the day, and it didn't feel like it was worth $175. I stalled on opening it, and then Playmates announced that they had licensed the Bulkyz sculpts and were doing small versions for like $20 apiece, so I immediately sold it and got those instead. 😅
    I like sofubi, but stuff like this seems too big and too expensive to be fun, at least for me. I think Mondo hit the sweet spot with their TMNT soft vinyl line--we'll see how they feel in hand!

      @@ioncewasmikey I think he’s saying this is similar. It’s much larger, so it costs 250; but the turtles are still a big chunk of change with similar articulation issues

    Vinyls like this have two appeals, mostly for Asian hypebeasts:
    - Limited release
    - High pricepoint
    They're not toys in any real sense. They're not made for series collectors. They're clout pieces. Here in Taiwan, you're mostly likely to see them as window decoration in a Vape Shop or high-end Sneaker Store. They're meant to sit in a window, be noticeable, and be a talking point about how much you blew on it.

    8:35 Yeah that's how vinyl figures. When I touch them I always say this feels weird and cheap. Then I put it down and say Oh that looks cool.
    But the Krang was made very cheap and didn't know that.
