Great job, John. One suggestion: could you make your cursor larger ? Some of the instruction was quick and difficult to see what you were putting the cursor on, I slowed down the video and got about 90 % of it that way. I've watched a few videos on Ableton, so far yours is the easiest to understand. Thank you.

Great series, just what I needed. I'm playing a Fender guitar and I use Ableton to recording my practices and also to load mp3 files, looping portions, playing as a backing track, etc. So Ableton became a very handy tool for me.

I am not getting any sounds directly from my launchkey 49... I've downloaded and registered my product. And the keys and pads are soundless...why is it so... In normal speaker...sounds won't generate?
Hey Jeremi, that's no problem! Just go to Instruments > Simpler (press the arrow to open up the drop down of sounds) > Select the sound you want and use that.

When I drag a .adg file onto a MIDI track the title goes into the header of the track and then when I click on a round button of the track the title of the clip shows in the clip slot and the arrow turns red, the clock runs but there is no sound. I can hear the preview so I know the Audio Out is set up. I'm doing ok with the .alc and .aif files in audio tracks. Why don't the .adg files play?
Great question, Tom. Once you've dragged the .adg file on to a MIDI track, and you can see the round 'Record' buttons in all of the empty clip slots, you'll need to double click on an empty clip slot to make a MIDI clip. Then, insert MIDI notes on the piano roll by double clicking, or using the pencil tool (press 'B'). You'll then hear the notes when you play that clip. Let em know if you're still struggling and I'll explain further.
You need to make sure that you have a virtual instrument or a sampler loaded on the MIDI track to be able to hear anything. This video explains MIDI in more depth for you: th-cam.com/video/_trsho9eiDQ/w-d-xo.html

i imported a piano solo into the audio of Ableton live 9. It's an mp3 file. How do export that mp3 file as a midi file.

Ableton Live is available on Windows 10?
This seems great if you only want a one chord song...and you don't mind it sounding like a cheap Casio from 30 years ago.

A Midi Controller/Keyboard is useful but not essential. Ableton allows you to use a standard QWERTY keyboard to trigger sounds/samples.

There is no 'analog' under the instruments category
Only simpler, instrument rack, impulse, and drum rack
