    Very nice video with understandable illustrations. I'm in southern Louisiana, recently retired and now growing muscadines. So many sites use various terminology that is intended for the experienced, that it is difficult for the novice, like me, to learn and understand. Although I'm retired from the USDA, grapes and muscadines are not a part of my expertise. Thanks for a good, understandable video.

    This is the best video I've seen on pruning grapes. The gentleman showed good information and explained why he is doing each step. It's January and I'm going to try this again. I feel better about pruning this time.

    This is the most informative video on Scuppernong pruning I have seen so far! Thank you so much for your effort in education those of us who love Scuppernongs and are struggling to promote productive Scuppernong fruiting.

    Thank you very much! I just bought a 4 acre farm in the mountains with a very old, yet vigorous vine that was terribly overgrown. I doubt it had been pruned in years! Your indepth video explained so much that I needed to know! I'll let you know how my vines do this year!

      How have those vines done? I've learned so much from Greg. His videos are probably the best informative videos out there. I only have 3 vines but I'm just now working on them this year. I haven't pruned them either and I need to this winter.

    This was fantastically informative! I just identified a wild purple berry muscadine vine on my property and am looking for just this sort of info on how to begin taming it down. Good to know that muscadine berries grows only on new vine growth.

    Thank you! I am in my 3rd year fruiting and I have been just letting them do what ever they want to do. I have lots of fruit but they are about the size of a nickel. I'm gonna prune them now since you told me how.

      I'm in the same boat. They are trying to take over my garden and are a tangled mess. Now I've got a plan and a sharp pair of pruners. Good luck!

    Hi. I love how well you explain the care of the vines. Very helpful and clearly understood videos. Thank you.
    I am a new gardener and have some beautiful muscadine vines in their second year. I pruned them properly in Winter and neglected the first few months of growth. We had lots of rain and wow they took off so I now have growth everywhere. Can you guide me on what to do to get these vines where they need to be?

    Question my grape 🍇 vine is 3 years old and last year was it best growth but no fruit. This year I have pruned the runners back to 3 buds but here in Central Florida I am not seeing any growth here in April. Some bleeding. Not sure what to expect. Using your fertilizer and calcium nitrate as scheduled. And really want to buy your seedless ones but always miss the boat. Please advise what to expect

    Just finished trimming all of mine, and for some reason I keep adding more every year, by burying one of the limbs until root develop on it, then cut it off dig it up and you have a new plant.

    Ive got a large Muscadine vine in my yard that had went a few years unattended, and is what i call delapadated growth, &has some shrubs mixed in with it. Now what i would like to do is cut it down with my Bushhog &what I'm asking is if i fo this will it come back & regrow or will it kill it ? Im handicapped so i think i can get the shrubs out by cutting it all down & digging up the shrub roots. I just need to know if it will continue to grow & bare fruit.

    What about when the vines exceed 10 ft down the wire. Do you begin cutting off the end of the limb to keep it from growing?

    Can you prune old vines and severe overgrowth in Early February?

    • @sydney5225
      @sydney5225 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It probably depends on what zone you are in, you are in zone 8 that’s probably fine

    I don't understand the pruning, does it mean that I leave last year's growth there and then leave two additional buds so the buds would be four buds, I don't have nearly the fruit I had last year and I didn't ruin anything last year

    I'm interested in your ground cover - what is it and how do you keep it under control?

    • @liquidgold2735
      @liquidgold2735 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd recommend clover, as it's a nitrogen fixer and i have it all under my muscadines and each of my plants put on tons of growth each year.

    Greg, thanks so much for these instructional videos! I'm new to grape growing, and this was quite helpful. I wish our respective businesses weren't so different; otherwise, I'd love to have you come aboard as an affiliate.
