As a support main I can definitely relate to some degree I agree that the feeling of being able to progress your character is key to making an RPG feel good, and support role doesn't really have much of this for two reasons I think: 1) Seeing the difference your gear makes in a raid is very hard. Unlike DPS who can see bigger numbers, all you maybe see is bigger healing numbers, larger shields and a bigger % support on the MVP screen. And these numbers are very small from gear upgrades, you're not going crazy over how much your healing increased from honing gear +10ilvl 2) Smilegate keeps making support 'cheaper and easier' but this also makes it so we don't have as many or as much to upgrade and improve. You could be playing a support that is on-ilvl for the raid with all the upgrades from previous raids, or a support who is juiced up with +50 ilvl over the raid and completed the rewards system from the raid, and you can hardly tell the difference. Full level 10 t4 gems? Can you see that in your gameplay? Do you feel more powerful?
one of my artist is 1630 with both elixir and trans maxed out... other artist is 1620 with only elixirs setup, no trans.... I did echidna with reaper friend on both artist across multiple weeks....and while its true we as supports dont really feel any difference.... that same "reaper" guy with same uptime support (me) have 9M, almost 10M more dps with support who have trans compared to support without trans.... 10M dps increase JUST from support having trans over support who dont have it
@@maminjoooyeah I play with my sister and the number difference between when i sync up all my buffs to her burst is insane. But, I think there needs to be some more creative ark passive for supports… as of now, getting a nerfed version until they’re mega juiced in a year is not good. The passive’s themselves also need to be updated for more exciting gameplay. Like, they could’ve added some cool stuff such as a super heal burst with 2 bubbles on artist. Or something cool with the portals.
As a sup we do not feel the big imapct on screen when we hone Gear or do trans and elxiers for us, BUT the biggest diff is when you see how you get treated from other DPS players (atlest it's for me in pugs) when you come with your juiced char instead VS a "barly on ilvl nothing more" sup. The ammount of DMG your group will do if you play with a Sup who has his char set up properly and invested a lot makes the damage and the Raid for all SOO mutch more entertaining and fun, then having a sup who has like 50% brand uptime and no horizontal stuff done like Trans or 40 Set. Yes we do not see big numbers but i get sometime complimented by DPS pugs when they see big numbers or see my uptime and want to keep raiding with me.
False. EVERYONE is running damage meters now day and people are gate keeping supports, even within their own guild. Because players are watching the up time of supports more than they are watching the boss mechanics.
I'm a new player. The issue with support is nobody wants you in their raid if you don't know what to do, and have shit items, and you can't solo anything as support, so I'm stuck in limbo with that character, and just switched to DPS so I can actually play the game. maybe it's free gold when you get higher level, but as someone who doesn't know the raids, I don't make shit on it
I created 2 supps with express pushed to thaemine- low roster,no cards and people accept me but i do know what i am doing. There is shortage on supp akkan and after
U cant have shit items on a support, just setup a 5x3 engraving support and get spec+swift neck with swift on the rest of the accessories and you will get insta-accepted into any lobby all the way until Echidna. Do solo raids if u need to learn a raid, dont bomb pubs with a support char when u dont even know what to do. The higher you go, the more in-demand support becomes, ESPECIALLY the good ones.
Go learn the raids, whatch videos and then ppl will accept you, You have shit items? go fix them its easy for new players now u also have free engravings, just get high quality accessories and u are good. I don't know why you complain, and I don't know how you play with your alt DPS when u still don't know raid and when u go in lobby jail you wait for sup... :)
Very good video mister ATK. Imo smilegate intended the new system to be hard to reach and be more powerfull than T3 gear so they can make more money. I think at some point they will reduce the requirements to unlock the ark passive or buff the early builds (like supp engravings) after they release something new to make money out of (super awakening maybe?). It's sad that it's such a good game to play, but the company making the game doesnt even try to hide their greediness. A real love/hate relationship
Great news about the raid, glad there's more "succeed to win more" mechs than "succeed or wipe other players" The idea of playing well and being rewarded by clearing faster is what it should be and I think this will help alleviate gatekeeping As far as supp shortage goes, I know its a problem, but I don't find it to be as bad as you make out, however, this is my personal experience, I do play 3 supps and can easily trade so I guess I don't suffer the same as full dps roster enjoyers. I will say once again though, it is a problem and I dunno what they can do to help the problem outside of introducing more support option for other classes Green gunlancer when? I wanna stab my party to reverse death
Wow’s solution was to literally just financially incentivize the missing role in dungeon finder. So if tanks were low in queue they would give extra bags of consumables, etc. I think that is the easiest and quickest solution to get more support alts going. Toggle support class honing costs, elixir costs, etc so they become cheaper to build whenever support shortages happen. They can make it go back to normal whenever they drop a new support class (if ever) but it would massively increase support alts in the target area if honing was cheaper for them.
We already have support rats with 30/30/10 who just go fishing for free carries. We don't need to incentivize this. They can just allow use of F1 pots or give special pots that restore hp and give shield for parties with no support
I really think they should do both, they should make support more exciting and have incentives to invest in them, but they should also make them not mandatory as well for the betterment of the majority player base. I'm not sure how they can do it, but in an ideal world, it should be like synergies, where if u really wanted to get the raid over with u can go with suboptimal synergies, but if the synergies are available you happily take them.
I have been support main since day 1 and have not enjoyed it since Valtan. Currently I am 1644 and I have not seen improvement in ages, and I don't know if the expensive upgrades up my parties damage. Also new raids are always a source of stress because parties who die a lot first blame the supports when tanking every pattern in the raid while demanding both heal uptime and dps buff uptime. Only good thing about being a support is you can study the patterns in peace and be a bit better on your dps character.
Very surprising actually because there are so many supports in thaemine hm and echidna hm when its reset day even going into the weekend. Definitely some bias there but we will see with the release of behemoth on how bad the support shortage will be going into tier 4. I have some ideas for making the support gameplay more interesting. 1. The damage dealt by DPS during the support ATK buff should show to the supporter. This damage should accumulate and if you hit a certain damage number, you as a support get rewarded for it. 2. If you achieve 100% brand uptime, you can have a skill that you can activate that auto-brands the boss for x amount of minutes. 3. If your heals recover a certain amount of HP, you should get a skill that amplifies your heals. Same with shields. 4. If you successfully cleanse x amount of times, supporters should get a skill that enhances their cleanse for the rest of the fight. These are just general changes to the support role and the aim for them is to make the support gameplay more interesting and interactive. They are able to see if they are playing well and they get rewarded it for it. Also, I think giving supports more customization is a good thing. For example, each encounter with raids, Bards can take the ATK buff and heals "skills" while artist can take the ATK buff and cleanse skills I mentioned above. If the supports are playing good, they should look cool in game compared to the DPS. If they are beast, it should show that they are by making them standout and cool.
i dont know how to feel with this raid, like after thaemine really nothing surprises me anymore, is like they threw everything (difficulty, individual skill, both uptime and mechwise) into one raid that i really dont know if a raid like that could be surpased anymore.
This is because the game is shit when it comes to newbies catching up. New players who mainly play support have a hard time getting into a raid because vets kick them for being new.
Have they ever thought to remove both parties and make it so only 1 support is needed for the whole raid that applies buffs and healing to all members. I think this would make support shortage less noticable and fill more lobbies up. Maybe it's a dumb idea but i don't know how support exactly works. let me know what you guys think
That could help but playing support properly is already super difficult and having to look after 7 instead of 3 ppl might feel like too much for 1 support to handle
Even i WOW you have like 1 sup for 4-5 DPS players and there you also got tanks. Lost ark is not made for having one sup for 7 players that will just not work with backattacking, hitmaster and Fronattacks it would be a nightmare to even sync up my Z with half of the group
As many others have pointed out. It doesnt seem like west has as much support shortage. I play bard main and at 1630 content I sometimes have trouble becuase groups already have support filled. Especially for thaemine hard. Will be interesting to see if there is a support issue going into t4. I wonder why it feels different here.
15:10 exactly my problem is the same Lack of sups. Me and 1 friend are playing and we still cannot finish Theamin G3 Normal and Echidna G2, we still progging and it only happen if we find supps because sometimes waiting 1hour and more and no sups for progging so we are now permanently stuck unable to clear these both raids. Lack of SUPS is huge and its not only in Korea. What about Director/s of smilegate promised to make sups gameplay "interesting" nothing happened soon 1 year will pass and nothing changed for sups... disappointing...
No surprise there's a support shortage again. They keep promising big changes for supports but nothing ever does. I just hope the next new class is an exciting fun support that feels different compared to the existing roster.
The biggest shortage of support is in prog lobbies i think, when i was proging theamine hardmode it took my ages to find a support willing to prog, on x10 juiced reclear parties there is indeed not a problem with support. One major concern i have is that the 1680 ilvl for aegir hard, i don't see how that is achievable as for now even with the +20 ilvls from switching to tier 4 unless the cost of upgrading while in t4 is wayyy lower then it is now.
I don't join raids due the raid wiping mechanics. It takes me a long time to learn. Solo raids have been great but people are still just as cruel as the raid wipe mechs. So to see something actually fun is nice
SG, or more, Gold River has even said he didn't want to make more supports because he don't think that will change the issue. But they aren't doing anything to make people want to make supports in the first place, PVE / Solo is horrible even with the free setup, towers, solo dungeons, general feedback is all just bad, there's little to no wiggle room on builds and styles to play and in general this is a design issue that they need to figure out and fast, either scrap all support give them class-change tickets and just say fuck support, or make a noticeable change to supports and more enticing...
I had 2 main supports and had a break for close to a year came back and every raid is overrun by supports here in the west, and I feel a bit silly sticking to my Pala and not rerolling to a dps.
Minimal effort support - Alt roster gold farmers most commonly found in brel nm (now akkan nm). Fills up the lobby before a 2nd dps joins. Nobody wants to play with them. Support alt - Stuck between investing more gold or play with other players' alt dps all the time. Gets impacted by booster events the most. Support main - High-invested character. Very desirable in end game hm raids. Is experiencing mid-life crisis. I'm in the middle tier like most people, and honestly I think the play is to make same-class supports, so you get to experience the true end game with achievable budget. Let me worry about mid-life crisis after.
Support issue isn't going to be "fixed" until people are given some stronger incentive to carry a support on their 6 DPS roster. At least I'm doing my part (I have 2x 1630 sups, 3x 1620 sups)
Don't think the director even acknowledges support issues. Slap some MVP changes and call it a day.. The only feedback I get is from DPS meter for my uptime, but the director says don't use it too cause its "bad". Once you get your 6 set relic from the old Vykas days, your character "feel" is pretty much almost the same. Wow, my heavenly tune hits for 6 digit number now instead of 5 /s
Idk why people are saying that in the west there is no sup shortage. It's literally hard to do a guardian raid. There were around 15 frog lobbies and 10 sonavel lobbies today looking for sup. With veskal you usually dont have any problems finding sup, but still. This means people are not making new supports.
Why they dont put 1 support per 8 man raid? It would help a lot and the support would play with more players and buff more players and never feel useless when they are the only one alive. I don't understand them copying the wow/ff formula when we as a support do not interact at all with the other party...
@@hyze2d Actually a good thing for the game, it would open the possibility to pressure supp mains to actually play better and the DPS wouldn't have to endure a bad support because there is a shortage.
@@JosePazelli-nh5ce surely “cut in half” seems like it would work but not really since it’s gonna mean both parties(or 4 of them if we count x16 raids) should stick together to get buffs (until all sup buffs gonna be braindead global non target buttons) + no party separation stuff in raids because sup can be only in 1 place physically
@@JosePazelli-nh5ce and also it is already noticeable enough if sup is bad or good so not gonna really highlight anything it’s just presence of the sup roll itself should not be a thing or they should somehow continue to increasing appeal of playing a sup classes
meanwhile in West for both Thaemine hm and echnida HM release it was all LF DPS while I had hone my support to HM ilvl ; ive been honing DPS now due to the insane amount of 1620/1630 supports.
The west historically has seen the problems that kr has and are usually over compensating for it. For the hardcore players, you'll rarely find people with no supports in their end game roster
To be honest i am glad that I have Gl main and Destroyer and Breaker as dps classes and Bard/Artist/Pala as my supports for my roster, I am having fun and enjoying the game and chilling . i can not wait to try t4 and enjoy the switch.
Thanks for the video. My main is a support and i love to play it. It is the most difficult class to play in the game, by far, people wining about "Gunslinger is the most difficult class, performing with blade is tough..." are making me laugh, playing DPS is kinda braindead, you do your rota and that's it. Good supports have many more things to look at, to think about, to anticipate. Support also has a bigger impact on the raid than any other class if played greatly. I bet people want to be the hero, the carry, and want to play DPS, even if the real carry is the support :) You want to have fun playing a difficult class or carrying a raid, play support!
They really need to take a serious look at saintones video about supports. As a 22 dps character player I can tell you that feedback is the main reason I don’t play support. They need to have real time visual metrics for supports that actually matter. Thanks for all you do, and as always I hope all is well for you
Bible is your visual metric. You strive to push your brand, atk power, and identity uptime as close to 100% as possible which would result in boosting your overall raid dps contribution.
You JUST realized "this is what players are experiencing" with the support shortage ?????? I guess streamers live under a rock lul. Welcome to my day to day experience since launch. Solution suggestion since you are a streamer and you have a platform to speak on: MAKE HONING EASIER FOR SUPPORTS. I have been saying it for years now, and no one is saying it. Make honing for supports easier. Atleast for 1 sup per account.
Forcing supports to use DMG gems in T4 considering the huge cost it means was one of the first signals of support shortage being a thing on T4 content, Magick Stream change was a positive step forward but I do feel like there is still a lot to be done to make Support feel more rewarding and exiciting to play, considering how important they are to clear ANY content... My hope is that all classes that aren't happy with their Ark Passive on paper get a change/fix bc this system will last for who knows how long...and if no change is made then it's just the last coffin in the nail for a lot of players that really wanted to see their main class(es) "fixed" or at least balanced with T4 and its new systems.
They need to change supports, or make a way to do raids without them. This is a problem they created by making supports needed for raids when they can just have the pet do everything a support can. On top of it like you said, T4 did not make supports more interesting to play, but lackluster changes. At this point for the long run, they need to think of a way for people to do raids without supports.
It's far too deep into the game's lifespan to literally make it so you don't need supports to clear a raid (at least the latest raid). Many people have spent literal thousands hours and god knows how much money on support characters, the devs would receive huge backlash if supports were suddenly not needed for the latest endgame raid. At this point all they can do is make the gameplay more satisfying.
Supports make the game worse. I'm sorry support mains but that's the fact. We would see a lot less lobby time if all classes were DPS with a little bit of survivability/buffs in their kit.
Support shortage, cuz Golden riven promis to rework supports over all and change Sets, to supports game play be more intresting. Problem not solved. Ark passive do NOTHING to solve some thing. It still old Yearning. even and its even WORS. Another set what actualy intresting in game play and rewarding for doing well.....and Destraction set do not exist in T4. im breaking with my 2 paladins cuz This set in t4 not exist any more.

MaKe YoUr OwN pArTy BrO😂
Idk why people are saying that in the west there is no sup shortage. It's literally hard to do a guardian raid. There were around 15 frog lobbies and 10 sonavel lobbies today looking for sup. With veskal you usually dont have any problems finding sup, but still. This means people are not making new supports.
Matchmaking on 6 chars. All DPS. Only one party didn't have support. That is a daily thing on matchmaking for me
@@Frozenshade87 Im euc btw. Are all 6 chars juiced or doing guardian raids on item level? (Exclude veskal cause I wasnt referring to that)
@@Frozenshade87 like, log in right now and tell me what you see lol
@@Matyouloid it's midday and I'm at work. Hard thing to do but you can always help with shortage and play one
Why they dont put 1 support per 8 man raid? It would help a lot and the support would play with more players and buff more players and never feel useless when they are the only one alive.
I don't understand them copying the wow/ff formula when we as a support do not interact at all with the other party...
sup dead => entire raid crippled
@@hyze2d Actually a good thing for the game, it would open the possibility to pressure supp mains to actually play better and the DPS wouldn't have to endure a bad support because there is a shortage.
@@JosePazelli-nh5ce surely “cut in half” seems like it would work but not really since it’s gonna mean both parties(or 4 of them if we count x16 raids) should stick together to get buffs (until all sup buffs gonna be braindead global non target buttons) + no party separation stuff in raids because sup can be only in 1 place physically
@@JosePazelli-nh5ce and also it is already noticeable enough if sup is bad or good so not gonna really highlight anything
it’s just presence of the sup roll itself should not be a thing or they should somehow continue to increasing appeal of playing a sup classes
this raid is good but... in the end its the old fomo lost ark.
So ig im going good with playing a support as my main char, but will also not be treated good by the devs
me without friends dont know what to do :((
meanwhile in West for both Thaemine hm and echnida HM release it was all LF DPS while I had hone my support to HM ilvl ; ive been honing DPS now due to the insane amount of 1620/1630 supports.
The west historically has seen the problems that kr has and are usually over compensating for it. For the hardcore players, you'll rarely find people with no supports in their end game roster
I'm in EUC and supports shortage is pretty bad above 1630.
I bet people want to be the hero, the carry, and want to play DPS, even if the real carry is the support :)
You want to have fun playing a difficult class or carrying a raid, play support!
Atleast for 1 sup per account.
sg doesnt care about supports or making them fun or rewarding to play or upgrade. shocker.
In EU there are plenty of supports for all content except probably hard Echidna. Thaemine normal is full with supps.
Vai ter q criar um, xdd
Support fucking not solved and in fact made worse from T4, fuck this game forreal.
At this point all they can do is make the gameplay more satisfying.
again. support has to go away or everybody will suffer forever rework the class in dps and call it the day
Definetly not every Raid mmo has supports and the Problem just exist and ther is no real solution to it.
smilegate should just delete supports tbh
just call for deleting supp in game on inven already
Gold River has left the company a long time ago.
The "new"/latest director is the one that has been doing the fights since forever.
