You also can file a complaint with the state agency that oversees car dealerships. Also, if there was an oral agreement and then it was in writing, then they changed the figures, take them before a judge in small claims court.

Here's an option you might not like it how about downsizing your van for a cheaper one that fits all the requirements and trading your van in for a profit and paying a large percentage of the extra onto the loan to get down your payments ? Failing that the same principle but piling all the extra money into your van build ? I'm currently on loan number two and I'm balancing between saving doing what I want to do and bringing the loan down much much faster to cut out a lot of interest over 5 years so subsequently if you pay off the loan in 2 and 1/2 years you will save an absolute crap load of interest. The interest is a killer but if you are dedicated and religious with payments you may be able to work out paying just that little bit extra on your loan and paying it off early. I was in the used car motor trade in the UK for 13 years in the 80s and 90s and you really really have to watch your back with some of those people. Some of them would rip off their own grandmum. Hope things are improving

Not all car sales people are the scum of the Earth.
My father sold cars for 40 + years! I sold them for about six years after divorcing my husband, and knowing I could never work in a restaurant where people were drinking alcohol again!
I worked with 10 men and nine of them weren’t that great some of them I would not associate with at all. The dealership kept threatening to fire me because I was educating my customers, and it slipped out in finance one day.
I didn’t care because there was another dealership that had a seat waiting for me because they hurt that I was honest, took care of my customers from the time they walked in the door and forever! So don’t judge every book by the cover those cute guys that are smiling at you girls across the table watch everyone of them if you wanna buy a vehicle and you’re a woman the best thing you can do is educate yourself first before you buy!
That is actually with everything that we do in life. If we don’t educate her selves first we are Ignorant to truths.

Car salespeople are soulless, it’s not your fault. I walked out of a dealership when the salesman lied to me about the previous owner (it was a rental, he said it was a family that was “upsizing”). Long story short, it’s not your fault at all, you are not dumb, you are great. Not many people would have the guts to do what you did about it. Also, love the name! That’s also the name for an album of a favorite band of mine (Santana). Cannot wait for the build!!

No, Car sales people are not soulless. I am a car guy. I can assure you that for every bad deal we hear about , there are 20 deals where the customer is ecstatic. Now, I do not know all the details of this consumers deal but it does seem that something went sideways quickly. Trying to remember back to previous video where she purchased the vehicle....she mentioned sales price was a great deal higher than what she thought it to be....For some reason 56K stands out.....yet proceeded with purchase....

    • @CheeseMasterSports
      @CheeseMasterSports ปีที่แล้ว

@@just_jake6050You’re correct, poor choice of words on my part. Not all car salespeople are the same, but, in my experiences of buying vehicles, and also assisting in the process, I have probably met just a single car salesperson that wasn’t completely out for blood, and that person still tried to sell my friend a completely unnecessary extended warranty. I get it, people gotta make a living, and commission is how that’s done, but there does tend to be a large disparity between the price you see online/various other methods, and what it actually is whenever you get to the dealership, that’s 110% true. It’s all about getting you in the door. In the early 00s, my dad saw an ad in the paper for a truck, and thought it was a great price, and went to the dealer to buy it, only to discover it was marked up $2k more. His response? The next day he came back with the physical newspaper ad. They sold him the truck at that price. Sorry, but you can’t tell me that the markups aren’t nonsense. I do appreciate you sharing your opposing opinion, though.

Good job on waiting on the next year to buy your warranty. I never buy extended warranties until close to the end of the manufacturer warranty. Also, remember you can buy a manufacturer's warranty by ANY dealership. What I always do is search on the forums of other owners who drive the same make/model and you can find posts of people talking about where they got their best deal.
There are some dealerships that offer great deals on warranties and prefer to sell in volume rather than make a killing on each warranty. Also remember to be sure you are buying the EXACT warranty covered by Dodge or whomever is the manufacturer. You don't ever have to buy an extended warranty from the dealership you purchased your vehicle. Most of them charge a ridiculous amount. I have purchased extended warranties several times now and each dealership was in another state. It's a very easy process. At this point, what's done is done regarding your deal, so just enjoy your new van and I wish you many safe and happy miles.

You should never buy extended warranties or any kind of warranty for anything in life, EVER !!!!!! These places sell warranties because they are extremely profitable, not because these warranties actually help people out. You are a beautiful person & unfortunately there are people out there that are scumbags

Don't feel too bad. You took a chance. Most people live in fear of what might happen and never take that chance. In this case, it was a negative experience, but it's not the worst. You are out some money but you mitigated the worst of it. You learned an extremely valuable life lesson, and won't make that same mistake again.

The point about which state to buy in (re: cooling-off period) is helpful. I prefer to keep financing separate from the purchase. Also, it's helpful to pay a mechanic to inspect any used vehicle BEFORE the purchase.

Fine print cannot express this enough read the fine print. When you buy a car the following terms you must scrutinize.
    1. Total price
    2. Loan term
    3. Interest rate
    4. Warranties or add one
    5. Payment amount
    6. Where your down payment is being allocated

Van lifers should have OBD2 sensor readers allow you to see how your vehicles doing internally and fix it instead of going to a mechanic, the one I recommend is blue driver a lot of how to fix it videos, and also something I highly recommend If you’re buying a used car don’t get ripped off, this will check out their transmission .😊

im with you on this, vehicle i test drove a few times i signed on dotted line should of taken a picture of vin.
Ford dealership gave me 3rd party warranrty who did squat on repairs. I paid $36,000 for 2012 f150, everytime i take my vehicle in for oil change & drive it out of their lot something else goes wrong.
Whenever you bring your vehicle in take pictures of the body & wheels as you may have dents or scratches when you pick up your vehicle. Good luck with the build!!!

Way too many dealerships pull all sorts of scams. You have to break out a calculator and look at every line item on the contract! I have a friend that financed a Kia Sorento for $42,000 when it was listed for $29,000. They added $13,000 to the purchase price with a bunch of BS fees, warranties, paint protection, etc.

You have to look over the paperwork real good now. You better look and see what other coverages he put on there. All those add-on can be canceled.
ALWAYS have them print a copy of what you’re signing before you sign. The biggest scam going now is they have you sign on a iPad then print it all out. Get a hard copy of the big long sales agreement before you sign.
Also he probably put GAP insurance on which can be added on your auto insurance in most cases for a fraction of what the dealer charges. Check with your insurance company and if they offer it Vance the dealer gap insurance and get a refund.
Always take someone with you to help look everything over. The same thing just happened with a friend of mine, try put warranty, maintenance package and Gap, all mode $10k extra.
Look again and see what else they charged you and go back and cancel it.

Same thing happened to me. Dealership took my down payment as pocket change and made me pay the full asking price as a loan. The paper work was very simple and direct so idk what I missed. My guess is I missed a clause that allows the dealer to change whatever they want at any point essentially. Still happy, still under budget, definitely got scammed out of 3k I worked my butt off to scrape together

What they did was they took your excitement about getting a new vehicle and sliding a fast one on you thinking that you'll just sign really quick and go with the deal to get that van. I'm dealing with a similar issue where I had a visit about 10 dealerships across five different states to find my cargo van and I had a whole bunch of IOUs and writing to be done and I'm still having an issue that they do not fix that I spent 5 hours waiting in the dealership for with a door sensor. They try to band-aid it with gell instead of actually fixing or replacing it

This purchase gives you your life on the road choice so enjoy your journey, you wiser. We all learn by such experiences so sadly this was a hard 5K lesson but nonetheless you are moving on and we are privileged to come along on your journey.

I've had this happen to me more than once when buying a vehicle, so you're not the only one to have suffered through it. The salesman will ask you what you plan as a down payment so they can massage the numbers and negate it completely, which is why you have to be vigilant and make sure the numbers add up to what you expect. I've skipped the insurance before, to them from bilking me out of the money I'm bringing to the table. Dealerships know the reliability of vehicles, and they know it's a waste of money to pay through the nose on insurance. Is it nice to have when your vehicle breaks down? Yes, it's peace of mind, but it's way too expensive when you figure your newish vehicle should be pretty reliable for the first two or three years at least, and maintenance costs should be much lower than the insurance they sell you.
