Great video. When I was a rookie truck driver, I would always forget to cancel the blinker. I always wondered why an 18 wheeler was made without something to cancel the blinker. Of course I would try to cancel my blinker when I would drive my car! It took me a year or two to stop that habit. But when you own an 18 wheeler, you don't drive your personal stuff that much. The 18 wheeler paid the bills!
Many years ago turn signals weren't required or even standard equipment on many cars. A lot of cars wound up with accessory turn signal switches strapped to the steering column.
Is the wire inside that horn switch connected to the bottom contact? I noticed when you pulled the horn contact spring rod. It was one piece. Makes me think the wire inside connects the bottom and top contacts in between the spring.
Yeah, the horn wire in the steering column completes a ground to make the horn blow. I find the wire is often broken off when horns don't work. @@FlipSideGarage
Pull the little rubber grommet back on the shift lever and spray some lube in there. They often seize in the shift collar when sitting for long periods of time..... it's worth a try, short of pulling and disassembling the steering column.
Great video! I’m having issues with mine canceling as well! Have not taken it apart yet, but now I have step by step instructions! Thank you!
It's very simple.... If you need any help with it, give me a holler.
Thank you for this video! This is very helpful! I’m using this as a guide to install a rebuild kit on my 62 C10

I remember that... I drove a semi back in the late 80's.... and did the same thing.

Thank you for not recording screws out. I hate that. I love the straight forwardess of the video. Where do you the parts?
I have a ton of NOS 59 Chevy parts I have hoarded over the years.... I dug it out of my hoard.

Does the plastic bushing go on the left or right side of the spring? It seems like it would go on the right side, but there’s no space for it...
I really don't remember as that was a couple years ago....l but I think it did go on the right side.
Old Car Alley I’ll give it a shot today!
This should help me out in my 59 Apache. It has a 59 bel air steering wheel like yours. I just bought a new switch and all that Jazz. Thanks
me too, my 59 apache has the same blinker mechanism
