i have a 2014 vw jetta 1.8 t, and i live in Louisiana where its never really below 30 much, is it okay for me to take the engine cover off and just have it in the car for the colder months? its under the sun a lot so i just worry the plastic cover is doing more harm than good. thanks for the video!
Yeah totally That's one of the first modifications people make is put a performance air filter system on and get rid of that hunk of plastic under the hood. amzn.to/43biOBH (paid link) I would definitely consult with a mechanic though who's installed one before.
I personally used a set of channel locks, also called tongue and groove pliers. They’re going to be your best friend for removing any hoses on your car.
For my VW's I order from ECS tuning they carry genuine Volkswagen parts and aftermarket parts that actually work. I've been burned a few times ordering from Amazon for VW parts This is the air box for the 2.5L 5 cylinder engine used in Passats from 2012 to 2016. NOT 2.0 or 1.8 turbo that is a different part. I also use affiliate links and I make a small commission that helps me make this channel possible. click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=lmKb*w*qqkk&mid=43304&murl=www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-Passat_B7--2.5L/Engine/Intake/Air_Box/
warm up the engine before removing the cover. It makes the fittings more flexible allowing the cover to come off with ease.
Great suggestion I'll need to do an update!
Thank You Good Sir, for your Fantastic Help.

What tool do you recommend to use to remove the rings that you have to compress with the pliers

I can’t take the cover off for the life of me. Do you have the part number for the cover it cracked on me.

I just bought a used VW 2.5 engine cover off eBay for my 2013 Passat ... I paid $200 shipped.
