I can see scooping a bit out for lighting a fire. Using it as a cooking campfire? I don't see myself using it for that. Once it's all burned out it would make a great can for charred material.
Agree! 👍 Kind of gimmicky product as a “portable campfire in your pocket” for cooking. It would be like cooking over a candle-not efficient and not if you want to eat more than toasted marshmallows. 🤣 But for a flame extender, the wax and fat wood works well.
Thanks for this review. I would absolutely add this to my pack and maybe make my own. As for the BIC - I can’t believe you would consider using an orange one. I mean, green, black, or blue clearly are better for starting fires in the wild! Just subscribed to your awesome channel.
Hey, thanks for the sub. 👍 If you go for the larger versions, you might be able to roast two or three hot dogs at one time. I enhanced mine with a bit more paraffin wax, paraffin oil, and fatwood shavings. I can probably rotisserie a chicken over it now. That might make a great video. As for the orange BIC, you are right about the other colors working so much better, but I decided to really refine my skillset and use the less-efficient orange color for starting a fire. If I know I can start a fire with orange, then it’s virtually fail proof if I were to use the more efficient green, black, or blue. It’s all about maximizing skills for worst-case scenarios.
a fancy buddy burner. Made them in Scouts 50+ years ago
Yep I did too
Seems like we used fat lightard, pine resin, vaseline, and cotton. Do you remember?

You are a heretic! Lighting a fire withot firesteel? That is pure blasphemy! 😂
Haha! 😂 No joke. You wouldn’t believe the number of times I’ve been threatened with being burned at the stake for BIC lighter heresy.
