Hi Antonio, Sony already offers the Sony Planar T* 1,4/85 ZA with optical design by ZEISS for their A-mount cameras. So we do not plan to offer additional 85mm A-mount lenses within the next future. Best regards, Your ZEISS Camera Lenses Team
Hi Lilian, Otus lenses are designed as SLR lenses, and therefore exclusively available in ZE (Canon EF) or ZF.2 (Nikon F) mount. The idea behind the mirrorless systems is to be more compact and lightweight than the comparable SLR systems. We meet this requirements with our BATIS and LOXIA lens lines. Please check them out, if you are looking for a new lens for Sony E-mount. Best, Your ZEISS Camera Lenses Team
It's easy to make a nice image with Zoom lens .. The zoom lens does produce bokeh and make the objects into sharp (optical illusion) Try the lens width, 8mm, 14mm, would this be as good as a zoom lens?
Really Zeiss rubber focusing Tony for 5 grand rubber are you kidding me you know that rubber slowly rots with time right if I buy a manual focus lens especially in this level of price I want it to last like the older Zeiss lenses
ATTENTION ALL ZEISS OTUS 85mm f1.4 owners!!!! This lens is having HUGE exposure problems with the Canon 1Dx mark II in Live View and also through the viewfinder, because it either over exposes or underexposes the image by a lot. Hoping that Zeiss will be able to address this issue
Hi David, Did you contact your ZEISS dealer or the ZEISS technical support (photo@zeiss.de)? Our colleagues will sure be able to help you. Your ZEISS Camera Lenses Team
haha what the fuck, you need to learn to use your camera dude. meter better or use the histogram and exposure compensation, assuming you're using live view because it's on the tripod you have time to actually expose correctly.
Actually I do know how to use my camera. What YOU need to do is google 'Zeiss Otus 85 canon 1Dx Mark II exposure issues' and you will LEARN that canon has deliberately introduced software in their newer cameras like the 1Dx Mark II rendering Zeiss Otus lenses, Sigmas lenses and other third party lenses useless.
davidjewels in their new software? Canon has always networked horribly with Sigma and Zeiss due to their algorithms. it's the downfall of buying third party gear
emptyskullify lol, you are certainly not the customer they are searching for. This is about pure optical quality. Show me one medium camera that is weather proof or has other luxury features ;)... It's like buying a Lamborghini and then complaining you can't load much into it.
Kevin Parratt which part is out of touch Mr. "foot in mouth" ?? Made in Japan ? or by Cosina ? both are facts. Please do yourself a favor and YOU check the facts. As a proud owner of 5 Zeiss lenses for the past 20+ years, I admire their quality and enjoy using them. It says Made in Japan on them, and little research will reveal that Cosina is the manufacturer of (most?) these lenses. I think the combination of Zeiss engineering and meticulous Japanese manufacturing and quality control, makes these Zeiss lenses beat Leica,Nikon and Canon lenses in picture quality. (no autofocus though; but you already knew that !!!). Have yourself a wonderful day.
Jay John I am fully aware of the facts, especially the location of the manufacturing plant. Have you been there? I have. And the Zeiss establishment in Germany? It is the implied ridicule in your comment which is out of place. If you really are such "a proud owner of 5 Zeiss lenses for the past 20+ years" .. why don't you you speak to that? I imagine you would have something really interesting to say. Never mind ...
Why no window covering the focusing scale? Ever heard of dirt & dust? German mistakes on that one. Send these lenses to Japan. Sony will make them better.
it is a price for having a ideal lens with many tests before you buy it. check then for leica noctilux price, and here I really have many doubts about spatial resolution, or at least no one gives you info for MFT.
When you try Zeiss lens is impossible return back,is the best, high quality!

Best lenses,unequalled!!
Love this lens forever❤❤❤
please make a wide angel Otus, f2 or even f 2.8 is enough with focal length between 17mm-20mm
I now finally own this lens and it is amazing everything else is second rate
when will they be available for the Sony Alpha99ii ? we have been waiting for many years😤😤

what are you even talking about?
@@etismyname I think he is confused between zoom lenses and telephoto lenses
Zeiss, please make a wide angle Otus.
And make it sub $5k!
Really Zeiss rubber focusing Tony for 5 grand rubber are you kidding me you know that rubber slowly rots with time right if I buy a manual focus lens especially in this level of price I want it to last like the older Zeiss lenses
Life is so unfair. I'll never be able to have enough spare money at my disposal to buy this lens.
I'm coming back as a millionaire in the next life.

davidjewels have you tried a different metering mode? center or spot?
Not weather sealed and no AF. I mean if I were to pay such a price, i think it would be a nice touch to add those in. Just sayin....

Just add this to the list of things I can't afford
German perfection (tongue in cheek)
Made in Japan by Cosina !!!! lol
"tongue in cheek" ? ... or foot in mouth. Do yourself a favour and delete your comment. You are so totally out of touch.

Jay John Who cares where exactly the manufacturing takes place!?
I don't think you used an Otus lens in the making of this video ha ha

please stop making new lenses! (at least for a while)
well just one more.. otus 28 1.4 and tilt shift maybe... but thats it...
An ultra wide otus would be interesting to see too...
Stop talking and just show us an example of how this lens compares to others.
Overpriced.
pintubigfoot Really? Have you seen what a medium format lens costs!?
