Its bottom is sealed when placed and doesn't allow air to enter, but when it's getting sealed, the air exits and creates void under the mug, that way, it tries to fill in the void with air and it is permanently trying to "suck" the air, but if it's sealed, it doesn't have air, so it sticks to whatever it is placed on. What is so amazing about that?
The mug is designed to be easily lifted with the convexity near the top. In an extreme scenario, could something hit it from the bottom causing it to tip over?
I have one and I'm on the fence as to if its worth the price I paid ($20.00 CDN) It is cool but a few crumbs or dust keeps it from sealing to desk. It is not a great cup either. Doesn't do much to keep drinks hot or cold. I love the flip lid though, handy for on the go in my work bag.
Got one a few Christmas’s ago. I don’t remember what happened to it. I might have broken it but I used the hell put if it and was not gentle with it. I do want another one.
After two weeks use of the stainless steel version the base just fell out (of two mugs). It is a design fault. DO NOT BUY! The latch to hold the base in fails during assembly of the mug.
+ERROR 275 As someone who has one: yes, it is suction. That said, it's not *JUST* a suction cup on the bottom, it's more complicated than that, but it does use the force of suction.
IT is a suction cup with a quick release valve hidden inside. From the video you can tell when you lift the mug by the upper portion you obviously open a small hole somewhere between the 2 parts that lets air into the vacuum of the suction cup. A lot of classic suction cups have something similar but more more crude and simple - a small tab on the side for you to pull only slightly and deform the cup in just one tiny portion just enough to let air in and it instantly becomes unstuck. I'll give you an example: images.homedepot-static.com/productImages/6886083a-b521-4cf2-a8b1-1dce1fa5f73c/svn/ook-picture-mirror-hanging-54402-64_1000.jpg See that transparent tab in the picture poking out on the perimeter of the right side of the cup? pull that up, just a bit and the cup will instantly come lose.
Hi Tadashi - that is what most people think at first glance but that is actually not the case. While the item utilizes the basic physics of suction it is not like the GPS dock. Mighty Mug intuitively grips and releases there is not pressing down to lock or releasing to lift it happens naturally. You should try it out when you can as I think you will be surprised. - Jayme, Founder Mighty Mug
Not the same, first off the GPS type you have to push it against the window and push a lever to make it hold, then pull the lever and have a hard time pulling it off the window. I just bought one of these mighty mugs and there is no pushing or pulling at all. It just works.
A indústria não valoriza invenções preventivas. O cinto de segurança é usado, em muitos país, por causa de leis obrigatórias. Se o cinto de segurança fosse um artigo facultativo, os carros sairiam de fábrica sem o artigo.
Hey all, just so you know - the plastic mechanism can break in the top - and the company will NOT provide replacements or stand by their product even a little. Horrible company with horrible customer service.
"Caution: Does not work on carpets, table cloth, meshed surfaces, most coasters, or any other surface that isn't smooth or polished."
Is that true?
@@bluemountain8110 nah it just makes sense
Common sense
I'm gonna make shoes that do this so I can freaking walk up walls. Someone fund me.

My granddaughters bought me one for Christmas in the UK. Love it.

Kathy Lee was here 3 times.
Everyone slaps this cup as if they was to slap their grandmother...
"Doesn't fall over!"
(Disclaimer: falls over if you push it with strength more then that of a new born child)
EXACLTY
+Zizou *EXACTLY
Not actually; I got one that was defected at first, but I sent back and now my father tried pushing over this new one and he couldn’t.
It took a long time for mine (the original one) to have the rubber become weak or I guess worn enough to be easier to knock over.
I wonder what happens when Smartgrip surface collects dust and particles. Can it be cleaned or needs to be replaced?
The mug shook the world more than anyone can shake this mug
if its leak proof then whats the point in it not falling over?
If the lid is open.
wish I had that before... Last week I spilled coke all over my notebook
**Disclaimer** KEEP MIGHTY MUG AWAY FROM KATHIE LEE GIFFORD.
Thanks Mighty Mug for sponsoring my video!

@mightymugs39 How come you guys didn't include the footage from the Today's Show in your promo video? Hahhahha

Matthew um me
This is a wonderful design
Will it work on a bumpy surface? Or carpet?
Got one a few Christmas’s ago. I don’t remember what happened to it. I might have broken it but I used the hell put if it and was not gentle with it. I do want another one.
Sorry Kathy Lee was so unprofessional good luck with your product
If you poke a normal mug the same way as this one, it still won't fall over.
I need this! I spill so many things every time I touch a bottle. Hundreds of my essays died of spilling
where can i buy it in Malaysia? I'm desperate nid it!!

+INeedBlue Eyyyy, atleast someone
lew!!
If it's leak proof why does it need to be un-knock able ?
Because only psychopaths close the lid after each sip.
its just a suction cup thats creates a vacuum and when you lift it up air rushes in to break the vacuum that is keeping it stuck down
why doesn't air rush through when you hit it on the side?
because if you look at the slit about 3/4 down the cup, when it takes impact it doesn't lift that up
0:12 THATS A FLESH LIGHT!
right size for yours maybe but not myne mayne
poking it with your fingertips sends it down
Needs to partner with Yeti. That'd be helluva mug now!

any cup can do that
who else came from CSG (comedy shorts gamer)?
yup hahahaha
Me
When you hit the mug, you are not going to move it an quarter of an inch. You are going to hit it good, so i don't see how this helps.
this is microwave safe ?
O posso comprar uma caneca dessas?
By the looks if of it it's a mug with a magnet on the bottom, oh wow.... how creative..
It's more like a suction cup.
Holy sh*t! I need that! Where do I buy!?!?
Awesome!
EVERYONE should consider watching the clip of Kathie Lee on the Today's Show before buying this mug.

+Khai N. no search for that video
Can it keep my drink hot?
Victor Hopewave it can.
cool
its magnetic
Wow, a suction cup. Color me unimpressed. In other words, it only works on smooth surfaces. So, basically just a desk mug.
Well thanks for letting us know what it is. Such an informative answer. Here's a hint, it is suction.
+ERROR 275 As someone who has one: yes, it is suction. That said, it's not *JUST* a suction cup on the bottom, it's more complicated than that, but it does use the force of suction.

+Duy Nguyen Yep, +fucktheinternet666, mine works perfectly.
Kathy Lee proved it wrong.
1:02 she is cute
this must be expensive as shit
Basically has a suction cup that extends & retracts, like the ones most car windshield GPS/cell phone holder use. Cool, but not exactly original.

Jayme Smaldone What brick & mortar stores carries these?
Tadashi Yee there is pretty much little to no inventions today that aren't innovations of something that already exists.
Not the same, first off the GPS type you have to push it against the window and push a lever to make it hold, then pull the lever and have a hard time pulling it off the window. I just bought one of these mighty mugs and there is no pushing or pulling at all. It just works.
HI Tadashi you can find Mighty Mug in Bed Bath & Beyond.

Hey all, just so you know - the plastic mechanism can break in the top - and the company will NOT provide replacements or stand by their product even a little. Horrible company with horrible customer service.
Brilliant! Though I have a tendency to put my mugs on uneven surfaces, so this doesn't help me all that much. But still awesome!
I have brought one from virgin mega store, but it is rusty now, useless cup bt expensive price 👎
Fxxking Genius!!!! Take my money!!!!
