Diehard KISS fan here. This is beyond pathetic and you can hear the lip-synch track kick in at 3:55 because Paul’s voice is completely destroyed before that. The comparison is night and day. This is nothing but a shell of a corporate entity. Playing the same old songs, with two non-original members and lip-synching. What a tragedy. I honestly don’t know how people are still paying for this mess live. They are now just the Harlem Globetrotters of the music world. KISS died long ago. Heartbreaking.

OR, People who've never been to a real rock concert before. I counted at least 4 songs where tapes were used. ALL the stories about Thayer are true. He's burnt out, too old and had enough. His guitar playing . . .soulless, had timing issues and hE struggled with solos as short & simple as the one on Shout it Out Loud. Love Gun was a mess. Thayer played the solo after the song was sung. Eric Singer - has turned into Peter Criss circa 2000. It was way, way obvious he was using pre-recorded drum patters for at least 70 per cent of the show. Close up video showed him struggling to keep up with the beat, constantly sweating in an ill sort of way, obviously over weight and his version of Beth . . . attrocious. B Grade Garbage - War Machine, I Love it Loud, Heavens on Fire, Lick it Up ! NOTE - Paul gave an Australian interview saying the non-make up song he hates most AND is embarrassed to this day is .. . Lick it Up ! He then sings it 4 days later.
Where do you draw the line with backing-tracks being brought in to sing the versus? With KISS, it is complicated. Gene is playing live, and not using backing-tracks on the versus. Paul's songs are suspect? Eric Singer is playing live, and so is Tommy. With modern technology it makes it easy for iconic bands to use backing tracks for the chorus and now the versus. That's fraud if it is true? I would like an expert from someone who has experience & the knowledge of how backing tracks can be detected. If you listen to the KISS Reunion Tour from (1996-2000), these same songs sound completely different. For years Gene Simmons called out bands using back-tracks, and now they seem content on relaying on them. Is the justification based on the fact, that this the final tour? I would rather watch The Grateful Dead who play all their instruments live in-real-time. Show business, is not fair, and not real.
Fans are paying to SEE the show for one final time….the live music is irrelevant to their true fans because their vocals have been suspect for almost two decades now! What are you expecting, Adam? However, if you were to see a Broadway musical and find out that the leads in the musical were using back-tracks (both for the chorus & versus), it takes away the integrity & talent you invested in that performance. Phil Collins of Genesis sat in a chair and sang every lyric live, due to his age & illness. Based on your narrative, KISS could be lip-syncing the entire concert, as long as they deliver a visual performance. I cannot buy this notion. Technology has a dark side, and it has stolen the soul of the music.
