    I have both Luxman 550AX and Pass Labs int-60, I prefer Luxman for short listens, Pass Labs for long listens, Pass Labs int-60 technically weighs 42 kilos, has 40 driver mosfets and 240 thousand microfarat capacitor reserve, but only 8 Ohms. It produces 60 Watt power...

    OK guys - have any of you heard the Pass integrateds? What do you think?

  • @stevenkoski228

    Pass’ new products are very expensive! I own his Threshold models from 1980, a Stasis3 amp & SL10 preamp w/outboard power supply, I still own my 1979 KEF 105.1’s, which Pass used to evaluate his Threshold’s line development. Clarity is superb, neutral, detailed, accurate & dynamic! The preamp is a short-signal path design, clear & revealing. These are of a purist’s topography/architecture! No remote control, digital readout or AV capabilities. Although still operating within original specs after 42yrs & being all original. I will have both units fully restored/upgraded. This setup holds nothing back, but it will expose shortcomings in some recordings, mostly poor mic placement or mixing. Resolution doesn’t lie! Remember; Vintage doesn’t mean outdated.

      Absolutely true - much of the vintage gear sounds better than newer gear!

    Not that it's going to happen but a more fair comparison would be the naim supernait 3 and the hicap dr power supply. Closer in price and a dedicated intergrated amp like the pass labs.
    I personally just got my dream speakers, b&w 802d2's but their too much of a good thing with the supernait 2 and ndx streamer dac. That's why I watched your vid, as I need to find something to soften and slow the pace a bit. Cheers!

    • @GreekAudioGeek
      @GreekAudioGeek  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. I agree they are different pieces aimed at different price points. That's why I was surprised that the Naim did things I liked better! I am going to be comparing the Pass to integrateds that are more its equal in upcoming vids. Sounds like the Pass Labs may give you the sound you are looking for.

    I believe the NAIM star is one hell of a great deal with sources and plenty of power for your wonderful Klipsch Cornwalls. Sell off the Pass Labs int-60 and enjoy. Your new rack stand is simply amazing as well. Good luck.

    I don't know where you are 6 months down the road from your Pass review on your audio journey Michael but I want to thank you for a VERY clear and VERY helpful review of the Pass sound (the way I'm understanding it, despite its excellence it has been voiced to be "polite" and perhaps OVER polite) and you've helped me to cross it off my drool and wish list :-) As soon as I have a chance, AND the money to do it, I'm going to go for a trial run of the Gato PWR 222 mono blocks with an Audio Note M2 tubed preamplifier. A pair of PWR 222's will be comparable in price to the Pass Int 60 AND one can return them to the factory for a full refund if they don't suit your taste. I don't think one can return the Audio Note M2 but perhaps you can borrow one from a local dealer . . . one way or the other I'd be willing to bet that the Gato and M2 will be THE sweet spot you are looking for! As for me, I cannot WAIT to hear them because I've heard they are a DREAM combination ! Happy listening and best of luck on your audio journey ! (IF you try the GATO/M2 combination please let us know what you think!)

      I'm so glad I was able to help you! I am like you - I lusted over the Pass Labs for a long time. However for me, in my system and to my personal tastes, there was no synergy and it sounded flat and lifeless. It put me to sleep. Let me know when you get a chance to hear that gear and what you think!

      @@GreekAudioGeek HI! I am to hear from you :-) Yes who needs an amp to put us "to sleep"? LOL At this rate IF you decide to give the Gatos a trial run you'll probably beat me too it as I need to increase my purchases of Lotto tickets to even give them and the M2 a trial run . . . Happy listening and I hope you post another trial run of an amp that will this time, keep you awake :-)

    would be interesting to hear your impressions with an oher cable for the pass labs, audioquest is brighter and more alive than others for example, xlr interconnect?

    • @GreekAudioGeek
      @GreekAudioGeek  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Patrick - cables certainly can make a difference. But the amp just sounded a bit lethargic to me and lacking pace. It may also have been a synergy issue with the speakers. What ever it was, it just didn't work in my system which is not a reflection in the amp. Sometimes great pieces of gear don't work in a particular system.

  • @dlmobilesys5386
    @dlmobilesys5386 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Michael, I'm going to get Int-60 based on your review. Do you have speaker recommendations? I was going to buy Klipsch La Scala but there's some negative feedbacks about that match.

    • @GreekAudioGeek
      @GreekAudioGeek  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi - I LOVE my Klipsch La Scala's, but they are a terrible match with the INT60. If you want the La Scala's, get the Luxman 509X. It sounds far superior to the Pass with the Klipsch. If you really want the INT60, you'll need different and brighter speakers to go with it. Maybe B&W or Focal's. Let me know and I can hook you up with the dealer I buy from - he is amazing and will ship to your door in the USA.

      @@anjovandijk9797 Hello! I have head good things about it but I haven't heard it. It is a great looking unit for sure. I'm not sure what you mean by "opposite of what audiophiles pursue" as I find there is such a wide variety of what people like. I base what I like on how something sounds and ONLY how it sounds to my ears in my system. I don't care at all about measurements as they mean nothing to me if I don't like how it sounds. I find having an open mind based solely on sound like I do allows me to enjoy a variety of gear regardless of price - low, high, super high - all I care about is the sound. :)

      @@anjovandijk9797 After hearing my Luxman integrated va the NAIM, I would purchase the Luxman over any Naim. The prices Naim charges with their recent price increases, and the serious price penalties they charge to upgrade their gear, along with the common known QC issues makes me NOT recommend Naim unless you can get a very good deal on it.

    Haven’t heard in person. I have the Pass X150.5, Ayre pre, Denafrips dac, and KLH 5’s. Couldn’t be happier.
    I like the dual functionality of the X150.5 - I can do 16 watts of class A low level listening, or I can connect in a separate large room setting with Maggies and use the full A/B power to wonderful effect. Best audio purchase I’ve ever made.

    • @GreekAudioGeek
      @GreekAudioGeek  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah - the 150.5 is a very different sounding amp from the new integrateds which are basically a .8 amp version. It's interesting there seems to be a clear divide between people who've heard both the .5 and .8 amps that they usually strongly prefer one version over the other.

    • @GreekAudioGeek
      @GreekAudioGeek  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not supposed to be in the middle on this amp. To the left of center is well in Class A territory. As you get closer to A/B the needle move to the right. Once it crossed the midway mark it is in A/B territory.
