    These plants are in the Fabaceae Family ( legumes).These are heavy organic fertilizer feeders. The soils needs to be well draining but moist at all times or the plant will drop leaves or crisp if left to dry out. They loved to trellis and so do well and thrive with netting or staking. The prefer alkaline soil. The need a min 4-6 hrs of indirect light a day and can live inside with artificial full spectrum lighting. Too much light will bleach them out, make them drop leaves or make them Crisp. I hope this helps. Many just trim off the dead leaves. I'd say it will do much better if you trellis it and fertilize it regularly. It also helps too add quite a bit of pumice to peat moss or potting soil.

    I was amazed when I see the tiny wee cutting in water has rooted. Coz I read online it can’t be rooted in water 🙃 I think you’re the first on the internet to document this plant now.

    Hey me again - also did leca and sphagnum AND FOOD!! Using 3-2-4 and they’re doing pretty good! No crisp leaves and out in the open with my other plants. I’m certain they just need a lot of food! I replace my leca water once every could weeks with mix of 1gal water and 2tbsp of the fert. The food is the key I believe!

      What brand of of fert and food are you using ?

    I just purchased on here in California. The plant shop I frequent had a large lot of 2” ones to purchase so I figured I’d try my hand at one since they’re so beautiful. Thank for sharing your insight on growing and caring for them. It’s been 2 years since you recorded your video and there’s still very little info about their care/growth/propagation online. Any updates?

    Definitely repot to a bigger one. This helps alot with these. It'll mage a huge difference. The root system is surprisingly huge

      Since this I have potted one into a bigger pot and it's taking a while for it to get established, I know it will be better in the long run 🤞

    I have 4 videos that I uploaded since December. They are SUPER difficult and very picky. Who knows what they want really. I agree with everything you said - beautiful but a pain! Mine are about the same as yours, I can’t keep the crispy leaves from happening either 😅 I just chopped the top of one of them and put in water. I also repotted one today in aroid mix. We shall see! Interested to see your success in leca.

      I'm sure I've seen your videos! I'm so glad you're having the same experiences as me with them! I have posted my first update on the cuttings I'd you're interested and I'll be doing another in a few weeks as they are looking quite good so far in leca!

      @@Artfulplants Awesome. I have another batch of seeds coming, I have read A LOT and I think soil to start seedlings is a bad idea unless its like sandy Aroid soil. I also read A LOT about their native habitat 0 on dry grassy slopes so again why I think they suffer and TBH I believe the crisping up is overwatering and root rot. Their roots seem VERY sensitive!!! I will keep an eye out for your updates. After you posted the water prop I chopped the top off one of mine and stuck it in water. Mine are in bad shape as of this week but to be honest I have really loosened up on my monitoring of them because I am exhausted with how high maintenance they are.

      @@adrianpoe4416 it's definitely hard work to keep an eye on them! I have one looking ok and one not looking ok...but my props are looking really quite good! It's been a week since I put them in leca and it's not bad. I'll be putting an update maybe in a week or two so you can see. Let me know how your prop is doing 😊🌿
      I'll try giving less water even though they show such signs of underwatering when I try leave them 🤔

    Thank you for all the info! I just bought one in a nursery pot! I hope I won’t kill it. I read it online it also goes to dormant when the temperature drop :( this is a plant to release all the anxiety.

      Hi, I'm so glad my video has given insight to this plant! Yes I've read they go dormant too which I tried to prevent mine from doing last year! The cutting has now been potted into leca and I have taken more whih I have successfully done in water again! I'm so happy I have found a way to make this work!
      Good luck with your plant...let me know how it goes 🥰🌿

    I'm guessing this is a common issue for this plant. I just got to your video because I am researching the same problem on mine. I bought my seeds from Florida (I live in the Netherlands though). I grew them in a propagator tent with led light and moved them in front of the window when they were bigger. I have 5 in front of a south facing window and one by a north facing window. Humidity in my house is good because I have a lot of plants in my house. But they are also loosing their leaves in conditions that other plants are perfectly happy in. I don't get it. I thought I was doing something wrong but apparently they are just prone to this issue.
    What I also noticed is that these plants flower like crazy, how is that with yours?

    I just started this plant from seeds. I'm about two weeks in and 2 out of 6 have sprouted. The shop that sold them to me said it could take months to sprout so I'm encouraged, but what little information I've found agrees that they're really picky plants. I'll be interested to see how it goes for you and to compare notes once I'm further along.
    I'm curious to know what kind of soil you have yours in. I found an Indonesian video that recommended 50% soil, 30% compost, 20% rice husks. That's what I'm using and, at least for now, it's working.

    • @Artfulplants
      @Artfulplants  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Good luck with your seeds, at least you're already having a successful germination rate. They are very picky plants still on a day to day basis.
      I look forward to comparing notes etc as there is so little info out there.
      Atm I am growing mine in a mix of bark, perlite and compost, maybe a little peat in there too. It's my usual aroid mix tbh. I have put a cutting in lecca to see how that works but nothing really to report yet.

    • @BB-hc4pd
      @BB-hc4pd 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Never will they take months. A guy in south Carolina says that but it's bs. It takes less than a week with good seeds

      Hey so I have done updates on the cuttings and such but yes I have one that's finally playing ball in soil, the other is throwing a fit. All the ones I have planted into leca are looking good! I have videos on the leaves one with in video updates too. I still think this plant is a funny one 🙈
