    I own Cloudmonster, Cloudstratus and Cloudflyer. Can’t run in Monster, don’t like Flyer (at all), have worn my Stratus to death. So today I ordered the Cloudsurfer. So excited particularly after your review. Can’t wait till they arrive 🤩🤩

    I have the Cloud Monster and the baggy upper and softer midsole never quite worked for me. For some reason the slightly heavier and firmer Cloudstratus V2 worked a lot better for me. Cloudstratus V2 has a very good upper. I’m not crazy about the looks of this new Cloudsurfer.

    I have some pairs of On shoes that I only use for fashion/casual use & walking, BUT since the inception the Cloudmonster & the Cloudgo, I notice they're finally tuning their running shoes to meet what runners are looking for as far as performance & weight, so we'll see what ON evolves in the near future.

    A sales specialist turned me into On Cloudmonsters several months ago, and absolutely love how they fit my running needs perfectly, or better than the other shoes I have. Then I tried the Cloudsurfers last week (crazy deal down here in MX for around $120USD), and as different as they are from the Monsters, my feet absolutely love these shoes, specially for "long recoveries" and travel. Too early to talk about durability, but so far for confort I give them a "10"

    I love the Cloudmonster and this looks like it could join my rotation! Just a little concerned about 'stability'...

  • @craigbarth7474
    @craigbarth7474 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Surfer 7 looks great like most ON shoes, is surprisingly nice and light, however it has stability (feels like a marshmallow so perhaps clean technique only), durability (bending collapsing EVA/Helion foam pillars and outsole), grip & squeaking (especially when wet) concerns for me. We sell a ridiculous amount of ON shoes (mostly cloud 5s and cloudflows will see how our new models go - Drift, Nova, Runner, Surfer), and also have a high number of guarantee returns due to material failures and premature wear... ON is definitely a polarising brand - people seem to either love 'em or hate 'em, fortunately they don't fit my feet (heel slip and too wide) so I can sit on the fence :-D

  • @EricS-uf9mv
    @EricS-uf9mv ปีที่แล้ว +16

    Sounds very promising. Super plush + ultra light are a winning combo! It seems On is listening to feedback & improving their tech. I suppose my major concern is longevity? I saw a slow-mo animation of the pods/pillars SLIDING FORWARD and then collapsing into a sorta 'locked' jigsaw puzzle piece. Looks super cool but that's A LOT of bending & friction for those relatively thin pillars. And you know what happens when you bend/flex a thin pillar back & forth repeatedly.... like 20,000/run (steps) x 3 days/wk x 12 weeks? That's A LOT of bending & flexing of those pillars.

    • @Believeintherun

  • @TolunayOrkun

    I am not sure that collapse of the pods as you step on will survive the test of time. It will probably soften and flatten. The collapse reminded me of Adidas 4DFWD 3D printed structure collapsing as you step on. But over there the structural elements are rigid and this one is just a type of EVA foam. I am really looking forward to hearing long term review.

      On makes great shoes durability wise. I got some 4 years ago when they were really new company. The comfort level was good then. Helped with my plantar fasciitis I had to get rid Of it. The technology in shoes has improved substantially since then. Nike has the zoomx invincible which is even better than adidas ultraboost foam. The issue with the first on shoes is the holes were not very collapsible and speedboard was a little hard. These flyers are dramatic improvement. Switzerland makes great sneakers. I owned mine 4 years and walk on them hundreds of miles by now. I also weight 200 pounds

  • @ashleygreenup3830

    Just here to say that I'm someone who has been running since I was 12 and I'm 36 now, and the OG Cloudsurfers are probably my favorite shoe I've ever run in. I've never found Cloud tech to be gimmicky, and the speed board seems to help bouts of plantar fasciitis I've had from dealing with all the max cushion shoes out there. I'm concerned that On is not sticking to their original designs and catering too much with keeping up with the fads of running shoes. Everyone is different 🤷 I just hope they keep the Cloudsurfer 6 model around, since this new Cloudsurfer is completely different and isn't called model 7.

      Racewalker and runner here. Just tried some Hokas, Saucony Tempus and these ON cloudsurfer 7s just now. Really best for you to try it out in the stores. I believe you can do speedwalking on them, the heel cushioning/bounce is really great.....really fun. The stack is pretty high for serious speeds racewalking but if you are keep it above 7 min pace walking it should be fine. Note that the heel stability is at best average, maybe slightly below average to some. But it ought to be fine for regular brisk/speedwalking....pretty fun ride.

    • @2100BLF
      @2100BLF ปีที่แล้ว

      So in short, if you have any sort of supination/pronation and heel striking, avoid this.

    How do these compare to the Hoka Mach 5? I didn’t expect much from the Mach 5 but ended up absolutely loving them, so I’m wondering how the bounce and cushion compares with these

    • @2100BLF
      @2100BLF ปีที่แล้ว

      Tried both the Mach 5 and Cloudsurfer 7 just now. CS7 is much more bouncier/springier and fun. Mach 5 too firm for me and my wife's taste but of coz some might love that way. Depends on your preference/use. The CS7's heel bounce/spring is really super, i think esp for those doing speedwalking and not so serious racewalking, it might appeal to some of that crowd. The forefoot is also quite bouncy.

    • @hollyhesselgrave9546
      @hollyhesselgrave9546 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was just in REI and it came down to the Hoka Mach 5 and these. I had one on each foot. I ended up going with (again) the Mach 5. The cloudsurfer was a bit softer, but felt like it had less substance to absorb impact while road running (I run 1/2 marathons). But I would have been happy with either. They are very close. Asics gel nimbus 25 is also a similar feel.

    I am sure this will better if they can add a Outer Heel Counter (as stabilizer) and if they can make the ball/girth fabric mesh area a bit heavy….to complete the stabilization. lt would be great to see the “before and after” appearance of the Midsole, to see the full performance in terms of compression set.

      I am a US 12 and the US 12 in these fit me perfectly. As a reference, I am true to size in Saucony and Puma, but feel I often need a half size bigger in ASICS, so I generally can't buy ASICS because they rarely make a 12.5.

The most comfortable shoes I’ve had to date for what I need them for is Nike Air Max 2021 Se… The Cloudsurfer just wasn’t what I needed. • @wordsovsean8905
      @wordsovsean8905 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thetattooedguy1413 I can appreciate that. I don't think they're the greatest walking shoe as I think they feel a bit unstable and just not... natural. I actually find them quite stable for running, probably because they compress more. I use the On Cloud X as a walking shoe and they've been great, although maybe firmer than you'd like. I hope the Cliftons work out. Lower drop is probably better for walking and standing around.

    I had good expectations about this new ON model and technology. But you seem to make it clear that the absence of the plate that On usually uses made the sneaker softer. Well, then I'm no longer interested. I appreciate firm shoes that are responsive. I don't find this in the huge amount of softer sneakers that flood the market today. For walking, ok, comfort is important. For running, comfort for me is in performance. I want to stay away from soft and comfortable shoes!
