I am so glad you didn’t get hurt. Loving the videos
Yes, thank you! Us too.
Yes, thank you. Us too.
Omgosh. I've watched thru hikes for two years. This is the best of all of them. I've never laughed so much. That goodness you didn't get hurt.
awh, thanks, what a sweet comment. Laughing is good! 6 months is a long time to never laugh. Ha
I am loving your channel and your whole vibe. This has to be one of my new favorite AT channels to watch. Thank you for taking us along with you.
Awh, thanks so much. That is such a compliment. Happy to have you here.
A hiker I watched last year she had a pocket made of ductape at the top of her bear can and in it was an old gift card and she used that to stick under the lid to help open it
I like that idea. Thanks for sharing.
I was hooked at my trail name is Sunshine! Can’t wait to hear the story. I feel the pain with the sawyer. We took ours out for the first time last weekend and also “ lost the coupling” only to get home and realize we were using it! I was screaming to the screen for sure😏 the last 10 minutes was priceless…totally gonna stick with ya! Cheers from Seattle❣⛺🎒🏔
Can't wait to share why I chose that name in a future vlog. Ha, so crazy right. I could have sworn the coupling was grey, when I realized it was blue and I was using it I laughed so hard at myself. Thanks so much for joining us.
So fun to see you both hiking the AT. Today’s video was the best, so funny! Yes, I was talking to the screen “squeeze”!💜
Hi Lori. Will be in LA May 1st! Let's plan a meet up or hike! Yep and I bet you were not the only one.
@@WorldTowning I’m going hiking with Maricon on Saturday so I’ll find out her schedule.
😂🤣😂🤣😂after the water filtration.......I SUBSCRIBED😂🤣😂🤣
We are determined to share it all, even if we look crazy. Thanks for subscribing. Ha!
I laughed out loud when you talked about accidentally hitting your bear horn and peeing in yourself!😅 Thanks!
Oh you should have been there. I was a hot mess. Hey will be in LA in May, want a guest for a week? Thanks for donation via thanks
Keep Sawyer Squeezed in sleeping bag at night. If it freezes it’s no longer good. Sleep with it next to your skin. Keep it against you on frozen days.
Thanks, we sleep with it and the electronics now.
The directions are literally in the name lol
Sawyer squeeze! I love it!
You aren’t a true hiker until you pee all over yourself & have an epic wipeout! Love watching you two hike the AT!
I am definitely a PRO now because neither of those were a one and done. Ha!
Uou make me laugh in this crazy world of madness. Keep peeing😂
Ha, yep, will keep at it. Laughing is fun, we will do more.
Yes, squeeze the water through the filter. Sayer squeeze hint hint 😉
I know, my brain was mush those first several days. System overload.
You need to let air out of your bottle so it will fill
Thanks, it took us a bit to figure that out, but we finally did. Ha
I found using a long shirt helps hide me peeing. I also learned to brsce against a tree. And making a hole to pee in. Also i started referencing poison ivy and posion oak and va creeper so i know what is what.
I have braced against a tree now, totally helps. I better start looking for the poisonous stuff. That would totally suck.
you got to keep the blue cap a little loose to let in air as you squeeze or the water stops flowing. :)
We FINALLY learned that, ugh, slow learner here. Ha
The most important question today, is the kitty's tail ok?
Agreed and yes she is fine.
I would love to do this with my teen. We hike the AT but no more than 20 miles at a time. The only thing would be that he has to carry his own tent 🤣 he is an athlete, so I am tired of telling him how much he stinks 🤪
Ha! Do it! I am stinking just as much as Largo these days!
filter air locked all u have to do is loosen up the smart water a little bit. i know u way past this already lol. im just back here watching the ones i missed.
I just love the chaoticness that is you Sunshine 😂❤
Awh, thanks;. You don't want to live in my head. Ha!
Chaos 😂 this is hilarious!
Incredible how the first days are about learning.
You are a good sport. Glad you recovered from that little spill.
When my son and I were doing a day hike on the A.T last month I was talking and the next thing I knew so was on my back, looking up at the beautiful blue sky through the very tall trees. Yes we laughed😅 and yes I was ok.
I fall twice a week, sometimes more. Stay safe.
Watched your Camino videos. Good luck Largo and Jessica. Jessica… no filming and walking! Glad you’re ok. Curious about your water bottle holder. Is there a packing list somewhere? Thanks!
I know, what was I thinking filming and walking and I am still doing it! Can't teach this old dog new tricks, but I am being a bit more careful now. We are in the process of making a packing list, but I want to try everything out for 3 months or so before I make that list. I am going to mention the water bottle holder on a future vlog when I do "Gear Gab" as it was made by a guy who is not a big company and I just love it. If you need to know sooner than about 2-3 weeks in a vlog just email me and I will send you his info. I love it so much.
Um….What about reading the “instructions” or figuring this out “before” you get thirsty? I haven’t been on the trails where you guy’s are in a few years, but I was in Helen a few months ago and I was thinking all the new Tourist attractions were encroaching on Nature, so even if you couldn’t figure out the water filter, you’re probably not actually very far from public water any longer. I live probably 45 minutes from there, but the scenery to me is better from then on, than to Helen. I think more locals go there for Octoberfest and Christmas so it’s not as busy as it used to be either. They’re supposed to have a big “Zip-Line” there now too! This is fun, I can’t wait to see what you two are up to next!
I did watch a YT vlog so had an idea, but until you really do it you don't know. And yes, the scenery did get better.
Oh my God ! I love this a wipe out on camera and not edited it out. I love it - by the way sorry lol. You are hellarius gonna start from the beginning
Ha, well, that is how we roll...reality on the trail. Everyone wipes out! Thanks for starting from the beginning
This is your best vlog of all time! 🤣🤣 I can’t stop laughing (with you not at you). I’m a Camino junkie and have no interest in carrying all that camping gear, but that experience (or inexperience) would so be me 😂😂. Please continue keeping it real. Been following y’all for 7 years. Hang in there 🤗❤️🥾
Ha, thanks Mary Ann. Ah, the Camino, yep carrying the gear is not so fun but what we get to see is. Thanks for following us for 7 years! Glad to still have you with us.
Is the path marked with yellow arrows 😅
White blazes!
You two worry about bears too much.
We get better in future vlogs, well, it is actually me. Captain is not worried about them, but I ease up.
Ok you guys are seriously bad-ass. I’d be conquering a bunch of fears doing this and I’m a hiker girl!!!! Recalling our convo at the lunch table in Palm Springs 😅😅😅
Thanks Sam! That was a fun convo! See you soon on the trail!
Chica and sunsets has a great Hostel, we met them 2017. They should have free Lolli pops that we donate.
OMG I had one of your lollipops! THANK YOU for the magic in the hostel.
you are going to burn out!!!! one every third day will keep it fresh and YOU TWO fresh..... Love it though.... :)
Thanks so much for being concerned about us. There will definitely be some days that don't get up as life can get crazy, but we truly love vlogging and sharing...it is fun.
I'm so excited to follow your hike! I'm Popeye(NOBO 2021). I love your videos! You may want to swap out those Sawyer water bladders, I've never had one last more than a couple weeks. A lot of folks switch out to a CNOC bladder. Also, in the limited time I've used a bear can, I kept a coin on me to wedge into that part you couldn't get with your thumb. An old card could work too. Happy trails!
Thanks for following Popeye! We did end up buying a CNOC, you will see it in a future vlog, we love it. Great idea for the coin. Thanks
Falling is what I do. When we hiked in Adirondack in rain it was calm and peaceful on way up. I just scouted out next soggy log to sit on. Now coming down, the birds and squirrels got an education. I kinda cussed a lot.
Please be careful, we didn’t bounce.
Ok, good to know I am not alone. I will be careful.
That is why I like the Garcia bear can. Ez to open. My saying is chaos creates reform. I once fell and split the bone in my ring finger. I learned what I did wrong and paid the price with surgery and a finger that will never be the same. Fortunately, you are ok. Just another learning experience. The peacefulness of nature is a reward for the arduous challenge. Cheers to your progress. Wishing you safe passage and good fortune. Happy Trails!
So sorry about your fall. Thanks for your support!
“It’s okay to yell at the screen!”😂😂😂😂😂 you guys are great! I’m 62 years old and am planning to hike, but definitely over thinking it watching you! I’m just gonna do it! Can’t wait to see your journey!
Yell at that screen!!! Don't over think it. We did not, you will be fine, just make sure you have safety covered. I think the average age out here is 62.
That is funny. I wish you would’ve got it on video not the fact that you were peeing but how scared you got because you thought somebody was coming. If you decide to use subtitles, remember, could be people watching this video that are visually impaired if you don’t mind being mindful of that
Ha, it was a hot mess! I wish there was time to add them in, but Google does apply subtitles which can help.
You’re both gonna stink even with deodorant!😂 you’ve probably figured that out already! Anyway, love your videos and look forward to following you all the way to Katahdin!!
Yep, we did figure that out, but still not ready to give it up. Thanks so much for your support and joining us on this journey.
You guys are so down to earth, real. I enjoy your videos. I'm binge watching your videos, trying to get caught up. You're learning as you go.
Awh, thanks, yep, keeping it real is our thing.
Is all your food expensive preset meals from REI ?? Haha. You were supposed to make your own like thruhikers. 😂
No, we are testing them out and eventually hope to only use those meals a couple times a week. I don't really love them, plus they are expensive. I would have loved to make our food, but we did not have time with our work schedules and quick decision to do the hike .
Hi you guys! This is Nan (Morocco 2019) - so excited to follow your AT journey! Sending good vibes your way. 😍
Nan!!!!! We miss you!!!! Thanks for all your support. We'll always have Morocco. Hi to Joe!
The graphics you added are funny but PLEASE be careful. Long way to go.
We will be careful, thank you for looking out for us. Yep, it is a long way.
😂😂😂👍🏻👍🏻it’s ok to yell at the screen😂. I am so glad you did not hurt yourself when you fell 🙏🥾🥾
Yes, yell at the screen. I do it too!
You remind me so much of myself. Love your videos...stay safe...
awh, thanks. Happy to have you here.
Water, shelter, fire. You guys are scaring me with what appears to be a lack of preparation and knowledge to safely navigate a very challenging enterprise.
They will be fine.
TH-cam comment enhancer.
13 miles, third day. Impressive. 12 hours of sleep helped.😅
It sure did. When I have gotten less hours it makes the hike day harder for sure.
If it gets cold enough for frost sleep w your water filters. They won’t work if they freeze
I think we got lucky the first time, but now we sleep with them. Thanks!
Is your son using the ula cdt ?
ULA Ultra Circuit!
@@WorldTowning I have one of those thinking about the cdt for my through hike of the AT
I’m literally laughing out loud!🤣😂🤣. Loving your blog.
Thanks. You should be out here with us, even funnier on most days. The craziest stuff happens when the camera isn't even on.
Keep a credit card handy to help open bear can when it’s cold.
Good idea. Thanks. Hoping the cold goes away soon.
lol 😂❤❤❤❤ 8pm AKA hikers midnight
Exactly! And we are so ready for bed by that time.
TIP: On the Trail is NOT the time to be trying new gear for the first time !
Time was not on our side since we decided to do this hike only a couple of months beforehand. My thought process on it was that if something was not working out there were plenty of places to replace it in those first couple of hundred of miles on the trail and I was correct. Is it ideal, no, but it was the cards we were dealt.
Deodorant can attract bears. Safer to stink. Definitely wise to keep all essentials in your sleeping bags at night in sealed units to avoid freezing.
What bears? I've hiked 2600+ miles between Amicalola and Harper's over five years and never seen a bear. A lot of wildlife has disappeared from trail areas cause there's just too many hikers these days.
@@chriskelly6559 I know nothing and defer to your expertise. If you are correct, all will be well.
Largo already saw one. I hope we are one and done. Ha
Switch to the CNOC bladder. Will hold more water and easier to fill. Also loosen the water bottle from the connection to get better fill. Just loosen about a 1/8 to 1/4” turn. Makes a world of difference on flow.
Yep! Too tight and it forms a vacuum.
We did! You will see it in a future vlog...we love it. And we learned to loosen. Thanks for the suggestions, if you have more we welcome them.
Finally learned that. Ha. Thanks.
I keep thinking… that water filter was $45… holy moly. Loved watching you ❤
And worth every penny. It is small and easy and used multiple times a day.
Worldtowning motto - fall down, get back up - onward! 🤣
And lots more of that to come, apparently I love falling down.
