Id rather just have a stack of golden carrots than worry about taking up three or four inventory slots and then have to craft stews. That’s like saying you can just keep diamonds in your inventory and craft armor if you need it. Yeah, you can, but that time that I quickly need to eat I won’t have time to craft it
if u could stack them then u could differentiate each stew because of their nbt code which is op when exploring shipwrecks and pillager outposts and stuff
@THE Programming Fool! true, abs you’re right that it’s early game so you’ll have the soup effects long before you can get any sort of potions but still, i don’t think the 2 or 4 seconds of effects would ever really make a difference. Not enough to make carrying all of the ingredients and bowls around in your inventory, but I see what you mean

well, all the ingredients to make the stew are stackable - the bowls, mushrooms, and flowers - and you can craft them in the 2x2 inventory that the player has access to at all times, and you'll craft 4 stews at a time, so while it's a more cumbersome setup than having a stack of golden carrots/cooked porkchops/beef, if you're in the early game & heading to the nether, it's trivially easy to make one set of 4 bowls, grab half a stack of dandelions, and then when in the nether use the mushrooms that grow on the ground plentifully there to have near instant access to an excellent food source
as another commenter mentioned, this is why speedrunners in 1.16+ often rely on the saturation suspicious stew - all they need is a patch of dandelions which can be found in most overworld biomes, and a spare log that can be crafted into bowls, and then they are basically guaranteed enough food for their journey around the nether, and into the end dimension :D

I would like to add that an alternative to pillaring up and creating a roof so there's a dark area on the ground in which the mushrooms can be planted & grown on, you can use mycelium (if you're on a mushroom island) or much easier, you can use podzol (which is found in megataiga forests, or is produced whenever you grow a 2x2 spruce tree). Both dirt variants will drop as dirt if you don't use a silk touch tool, but podzol can be generated any where as long as you have access to 4 spruce saplings to make a 4x4 spruce tree.
With podzol or mycelium, you can grow mushrooms on them at any light level, meaning you don't have to worry about building a roof to make the ground dark.

@@aidanatkinson7717 these instructions apply for growing a giant mushroom using bonemeal, and then getting lots more mushrooms by harvesting the giant mushroom with a fortune axe. The method of getting more mushrooms by letting the small mushrooms spread over time is much slower (like, hundreds-thousands of times slower) but can be make AFK-able more easily).
For the mushrooms spread method I will paraphrase the wiki article:
"
When receiving a random tick, a mushroom has a chance of spreading to a nearby block (including even above and below diagonally) if there are fewer than five mushrooms of the same type in a 9×9×3 volume around the original mushroom."
thus to create an AFKable mushroom farm using this mechanic, you'd want to make sure the new mushrooms are flushed away with water/pushed away with pistons whenever new ones are detected/using a redstone clock timer that will trigger once every __ minutes (where __ is the average length of time for a mushroom to spread)
@@CorneliusThroatworthy unfortunately fortune does not increase the drops of mushroom blocks. Good news : mushrooms can also be grown on nylium ! Which is handy for making a farm for all 4 giant mushrooms.

i always keep 4 saturation stews on me in case i really need the health. the best part is that you can eat these when full so they're amazing for saturation stacking.
EDIT: 3:32 you can also use a lightning rod as a cheaper alternative

you can make podzol by growing 2x2 spruce tree. then you can grow huge mushrooms on it without any shade.
2:00 Finally find someone making a video stating that saturation suspicious stew is the best food in minecraft. People are just underestimating its power of regenerating health (better than god apples). What's even better is that you can still eat suspicious stew even you are at full hunger. So we can eat it after a golden apple to acquire more advantage when pvping.
They are not better than God apples lmao. The benefits are minor compared to god apples. Mad comparison. Your comparing 8 seconds or regen to absorbsion IV for 2:00, regen for 30 seconds, fire res for 5:00 aswell as normal res for 5:00. How on earth is 8 seconds of regen better

It's def nice to see there's a different way to get regen without using potions!
Pro tip: Since 1.17, the easiest way to convert LOTS of Mooshrooms at once is to place a lightning rod in a pen with many of them. The next thunder storm will cause lightning to strike the rod, converting many or all of the Mooshrooms nearby. Just remember to sleep as soon as you hear the lightning strike and remove the rod before the next storm!

I would just like to add, aside from using lightning, you can also get Brown Mooshrooms through breeding
There's a 1 in 1024 chance that breeding two regular Mooshrooms will spawn a brown one
And there's a 1 in 2 (50%) chance to get it if you breed a regular and a brown one together
I managed to get one using this method

I had my first brown mooshrooms completely on accident when I had a lightning strike on my mooshroom pen. I love my choccy moos but this takes it to a whole other level! Now I just have to figure out how to get a ready source of flowers on a shroom island early game, lol!
Edit: another way you can encourage the moo-tation to brown mooshrooms is by using the new lightning rods! I can imagine them being used in charged creeper farms for the same reason, too.

Only if they change bundles to let you actually stack unstackable items to 64. Which is what they SHOULD do, dammit! Right now bundles get instantly "full" if you put an unstackable in them. Items that stack to 16 like eggs and empty buckets take up four "spaces" each in the bundle so if a bundle has 8 eggs in it it'll only fit 8 snowballs, or 8 ender pearls, or 8 eyes of ender, or 32 more of anything else.
Yes, it fucking sucks.
They're so determined to "BaLaNcE" it that they made it practically useless.
The ONLY THING the bundle is good for is condensing disparate semi-stacks into one slot, such as if you have half a stack of dirt, quarter stack of sand, quarter stack of gravel, you can have these three occupy only one inventory slot instead of partially blocking 3.

the type of suspicious stew produced by the brown mooshroom depends on what type of flower its fed with the same effects as crafting suspicious stew. Example, feeding a brown mooshroom a wither rose then milking it will always produce wither suspicious stew.
I have had a brown mooshroom “chef” in my bases for as long as they have been around. I never knew you could use a flower to make them give sus stew.

I wonder if you will be able to make a frog stew, maybe if we had poisonous frogs in the jungle biome you could milk them with a glass bottle to collect the poison and use that to make the effects of the stew last longer, maybe this could be done with a cauldron 🤷♂️ it is the wild update after all … 🤞🙏😂

Once I found out about dandelion stew, it's become a staple of my playthroughs until I get Gapples. Saved my ass after falling into lava, too, on more than one occasion.

One thing I've seen is saturation effect suspicious stew is fairly common in farmer villager trades
I learned recently that there is a chance to receive a bowl when a sea turtle is struck by lightning
Another way to get brown mooshrooms is by breeding red mooshrooms. The chances of them creating a brown mooshrooms are extremely low, with only a 0.0001% (Or 1/1024) chance of happening. You’d definitely be much better off using channeling or a lightning rod lol
Out of curiosity, I'm wondering after hearing about these for the first time. Would it be possible to give the stew that gives weakness to a zombie villager and then the golden apple to cure them as an alternative or early game method rather than the potion?

The best alternative that saves you the trip to the Nether is to level up a Fletcher villager until he trades you tipped arrow of weakness. Use a simple bow without charging your shot too much on the zombie villager and bam, you can cure him with the apple after

1 more question mate. Can you make the diamond shaped shade as high as you want? Or a specific height is needed? Like 15 blocks high?
It needs to at least be ~11 blocks up so the mushroom is at light level 12 or lower, and you have space for the mushroom to grow. You can go as high as you want I believe, it will always cast the same shadow *I think*

Well for food golden carrots steak and pork chops have good saturation can stack and are easier to farm for buffs splash potions are faster stronger and last longer
eating saturation stew means you can last longer without having to eat, because even if you go down to 8 points you just have to eat once
If you don't have a fortune axe, it doesn't matter, fortune won't yield you any more mushrooms from blocks

Just use your Turtlefarm to kill the Turtle with a channaling Trident to get the Bowls for the Suspicious Stew

bruhh i never did my research and assumed they have a random effect, saturation stew is OP
I can't consider them the best item when they eat up so many inventory slots just to make them worthwhile. Sure, you can craft them whenever, but that's 4 slots in your inventory it eats up when my steak takes up only 1. Every inventory slot matters, especially in recent minecraft which has an inventory clutter problem. The effects also being as short as 5 seconds just makes them terrible potions. The argument of them being early game doesn't hold weight either becuase the chance of a player normally finding all of this and having all of this set up will mean they are far enough along usually to be potion brewing anyways.
Even if you did get a brown restackable mushroom suspicious stew with the perfect effect, your ability to hold a certain amount of it just makes it less than ideal.

Blindness
Saturation
Jump Boost
Poison
Regeneration
Night Vision
Weakness
Wither
Can't eat them when full in Java. Or at least, it didn't let ME for some reason when I tried. Could be a bug.

Extra tip: A bundle can be used to store a maximum of 21 brown and red mushrooms and the flower of your choice for easy management of what stew you want. Allium is a good choice for tackling fortresses or generic nether fortress exploration before you get fire resistance potions.

They have to be at least 64 blocks away from each other, so you could make a few that would work at the same time, but not loads

The regen and saturation's where it's at imo. But I could see the blindness stew being useful in an SMP where you had people use it to avoid seeing where a hidden button or redstone key is to enter your base. Kind of a cool item ngl.

It's not stackable but the cake gives 14 saturation points and in bedrock edition the cake is STACKABLE
