Ok so here’s my story about this song…. Whenever I here this play it brings me back to my youth of the 1980’s. Laying on my parents living room floor watching the great sitcoms of yesterday, covered up in blankets all snuggled up, warm, secure, protected from any outside worries. Spending everyday with my family, going to church on Sunday morning, waiting for the telephone to ring from your friends, playing outside no matter the weather , going to the mall in Sandusky, Ohio where there really was a bar named Cheers. Just a little song can trigger so many vivid memories. It makes me sad though, as I miss those days and people that used to be in my life. God bless.
It just makes me want sing the version I wrote. My mother grew up around alcoholics & worked in more than a couple of bars so this show never really played in my house...
@@doaa757 not my life. She never drank, and her first couple of jobs were also in bars so she just doesn't watch anything centered around them or drinking
I first heard this on AT. I think a lot of people have. And I listened to it, thought it wasn't bad, just a regular song I didn't love. Now listening to it a couple more times, it's making me pretty happy. I felt sad today and it was the one song that would cheer me up. I don't know if this is because of sentimental value or what (the episode), but now I love this song.
No matter how many times I listen to this song, I never tire of it. Thank God for Cheers existing, without it this song wouldn't exist, at the most fall into obscurity....
I feel like the meaning of this song is a longing for community. " You want to be where you can see our troubles are all the same" and " You want to be where everybody knows your name". In a way it's like if one had a community they would be able to understand each other struggles and relate to the problems one goes through. The second part " You want to be where everybody knows your know" kind of feels like a reference to how no one knows each other it's like you want to be in a place where people know you and it's like in a sense where you know people in your community. It almost feels like this song predicts the problems gen-z has been going through and our struggles with a lack of community.
Oh man! You're missing something. Go watch it if you haven't by now. It's as good as it's theme, if not better...and matches it perfectly. Lots of TV shows don't really match up well with their theme song, but Cheers and its song are perfectly suited for each other.
@@fun6264 I can think of a Parody Of a Villains Pub where Anime and Cartoon Villains would be hanging out together, Like, Sartorius (Yu-Gi-Oh G X) Playing a Game Of Darts With Guzma (Pokemon Sun and Moon Ultra Adventures). Giovanni (Team Rocket Leader, Pokemon) having a beer with, Valtor (The Winx Club), Cobra Commander (G.I. Joe a Real American Hero), Hordak (She-Ra Princess Of Power (the old school cartoon show), Mr. Sinister (X-Men The Animated Series). Carmen Sandiego (Where On Earth Is Carmen Sandiego) Playing Poker With Narissa (W.I.T.C.H), Natasha Fatale (Rocky and Bowinkle Cartoon Series), Hunter J (Pokemon Diamond & Pearl), Duke Igthorn (Disney's Adventures Of The Gummy Bears), Cruella De Ville (101 Dalmatians Animated Series), Prince Lotor (Vultron Defenders Of The Universe (Old School One) ). etc. etc.

this song is a lot more depressing than cheers made it out to be
Not really, everyone in Cheers kind of embodies the kind of sadness often found in bars, and the same kind of witty humor
