thanks for the video. I was working on a Briggs and Stratton 900 series pump and I needed to take off the impeller. I broke it a bit and stopped cause I didn't want to break it completely. so now I know that it's OK.

To remove impeller I heated it with heat gun for 45 seconds then threaded a 7/16 bolt into the impeller body after removing the smaller impeller bolt, the bigger bolt cut threads and pressed against shaft, impeller pulled right off. No plying, breaking, cut etc. Took 5 minutes max.

Surprised I missed this video earlier. I got my Homelite 2" for free because it was locked up - split it, removed mulch, and got it going again. Didn't even need the rebuild.

I saw this and was like, NOPE! Ain't breaking my pump. Thread a bigger bolt into the impeller hole it will thread itself in, push against the shaft and push the impeller off. I searched till I found the answer.

on removing the impeller use two screw drivers 180 deg. apart and work them gently at same time (equal pressure both sides)

have you tried an impact driver for loosing up the shaft bold? might only need to fix the propeller a little bit, rest is the magic of inertia. actually the same when doing a tire change with an impact driver. mostly no need to fix the wheel.

The impeller bolt wasnt really that tight.. just harder when all your using is a allen wrench. The Impeller was trashed anyways

Damn fine job especially since you are doing all that work that requires two hands with one one hand. You are going to have to spring for a tripod for your camera one of these days so that you will be to show what you are doing and not have worry about dropping the camera.

Hi if you take a heat gun and heat up the impeller it will come off a lot easier

Try to smear a little Vaseline or other waterproof grease on the shaft. Should make it slide off easier next time. Don't ask how I know! Those pumps are a bit of a throw away deal like most things now days

Nooooo! You don’t pry an impeller off. You put a thread less shaft, smaller than the original bolt in the hole so it bottoms out. Then you thread in a bolt the size and thread count of the outer hole. You tighten it down till it bottoms out on the thread less shaft and it will press the impeller off the shaft.
