    At my yard there's about 500 trucks I would say 400 of them have tags expiring sep-dec this year. I'm willing to bet a good amount will not be paying that $2000 reg fee again.

      @@josegonzalez4144hey man I completely understand your frustration but most truck drivers just don't know. Brokers are not in control of the market and making all this money like you think
      Shippers/customers know EXACTLY what's going on as everyone is contacting them for freight so they're not dumb. They recognize competition amongst everyone fighting for their loads so brokers aren't making sh*t right now because they have to be super competitive. They do not control the market, trucks do. I know it's easy to blame it on the big bad broker but it's not them. Don't follow the crowd that loves to Blame everyone else and act the victim. Not sure why everyone is all worked up, trucking operates in cycles so we knew this was coming. Nobody was going to pay $7/mile forever. You can make money with brokers too but that's after you build a relationship and provide a service that they can't find anywhere else. Find a dedicated run and service it perfectly and I promise it'll turn into something good. Keep going this over time and slowly you're growing. And no I'm not a broker... at all
      I'm a carrier that started with 2 trucks and currently at 105. When I started in 2001 I worked ONLY with brokers for about 5-6yrs and not only made great money as I found a niche and ran it as perfectly as possible. I was running lanes with brokers that paid more than what most were getting from direct customers. It wasn't until I had about 30 trucks where I was able to approach a direct customer and offer them more than my competitors. As we grew from 30 to 105 trucks we still used brokers all the time when we needed them. You can't cover every truck with a direct customer, just not possible. You need brokers to fill in backhaul needs as most direct customers won't just give you a load here and there. Don't have that attitude towards brokers and then you'll start seeing results

    I will say there is one thing that influenced the statistics that Miranda isn’t taking into account… there are some “people” who stay in trucking only because they love trucking. I’ve always said, after being in Truckng since 1982, don’t get into trucking to make money there are too many things that will make you hate it unless you basically love driving truck.

  • @kydon1236
    @kydon1236 ปีที่แล้ว

    100% agree, as a driver for a company. I have felt the difference. My hours went from 60 plus hours a week to averaging 47 hours a week.
    But also I agree now isnt a time to become an owner operator. So diesle prices are affected by the inflow of trucks increasing demand, ontop of the current administrations policies. This drives up the need for higher rates, but with over saturation in the market of drivers it causes brokers to be greedy, and that greed will cause those who are barely staying above water to take low cost rates, which then hurts those who are long time truck companies.
    The truth is this, unless the saturation of owner operators in the market the rates will not balance.

    Thank you for the update.
    My opinion on starting your business differ a little from yours.
    I believe From July to September is actually the best time to get into the market and has always been. regardless of the market outlook. Peak season, freight availability make it possible to survive. Worst time to get in is from mid February to end of may when the market is cooling down. However You need to be aware of what the seasonal change does for your trucking business. Save for taxes, emergencies, breakdowns, etc. Beecause you will need some of that to sustain you throughout the slow season until the next market uptick. Have a big safety net and don’t over leverage yourself.

  • @jaredschultz7358
    @jaredschultz7358 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The way this goes down just like the number of trucking companies have increased so I have in the last so those brokers are all competing for customers. So they're all telling the customer so no I can get that covered for less money just so they have something to post on the DAT board and this is helping artificially keep freight prices cuz then recall him up instead what we don't have anymore in the load so somewhat artificial suppressed freight maket

    Miranda, as others have said, be sure to take care of yourself. You were going to take the day off, and instead posted a new video. Like many of us, we want to stay busy and productive, but that can come at a cost. So just keep in mind that what you publish is welcome and valuable, and people will happily wait for good work product, even it it is published less frequently. Even popular musicians know to pace their output over stretches of time, lest they lose creativity and motivation, and the public gets spoiled with receiving too much and taking the work for granted. So, when the energy and the motivation is there, go for it, but if you need the downtime, listen to your internal batteries and take a few days to recharge. • @LuisRamos-te1hj
    @LuisRamos-te1hj ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Yes, I would get into the trucking market now, especially now. Used truck's prices have fallen and you could get a good deal right now. Remember her information is for the Spot market and not the contracted market. The spot market is just 10% of the freight in the USA. Contracted freight is $0.75 per mile more than the Spot freight rate. Think about that. If 2000 miles come from contracted freight you will make an extra $1500 per week compared to getting all your freight from the spot market. If your operation is solely getting your freight from the Spot market every day then you will have a challenge but if you could get some dedicated freight from a shipper or a broker then you could make more money per load than just spot freight.

    • @TruckingMadeSuccessful
      @TruckingMadeSuccessful  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ok a few things here. First and foremost, contract carriers are earning an average of 79 cents per mile more than spot carriers at the moment, HOWEVER- with the freight market starting to show positive indicators, shippers will likely start renegotiating rates with contract carriers and bring them MUCH lower starting in 2024. Shippers want to grab lower transportation rates as much as they can while they can. Be careful- what you said can cause people to get in mindlessly and successfully go bankrupt. The market is moving in the right direction, no denying it, but it's so unstable at the moment that every step has to be calculated 20 times before taking the next one. Carriers who have been in it for 10, 20, 30, 40 years are shutting down- not because they are tired, but because the conditions currently are primed for a purge. Again, be careful with what you recommend to people reading.

    I’m a little confused. I think I understood most of it. What I saw on your charts was lots of Carrier’s leaving the industry, meaning the rejection rate is going up. Meaning the control is slowly inching its way towards favoring the Carriers having more control, correct? So even though these are good signs of the market stabilizing it’s still too soon to get into the industry. I guess my question is at what point, or how many more carriers do we need to see leave and how much higher should the rejection rate increase before it’s a good idea to enter the industry? Thank you ma’am for all that you do.

    Regardless of rejection, rates are LOW!!! If a carrier rejects freight its because the Payout is not worth the their time to pull. The rate dosent go up , the broker just finds a carrier to pull cheap freight. No progress.

      @@garyounrou3718 few reasons. My cousin works for swift and he makes 80k per year after 8 months of working there. He loves it. My bills are coming up and they were able to get me on the road just 2 weeks after I applied. I only want to do OTR for 6 months and then go local, swift is fine for that.

    Let’s be honest, this is the worst trucking has ever been. Rates are the lowest compared to the fuel and maintenance costs that is has ever been in history. I bought my first truck in 1993. It’s really bad right now, we ate steak and lobster in 2021 and now we’re not even eating chicken, we’re eating the feathers.

    I have no love for brokers. BUT why call them out all the time when the MAIN causer of this disaster is the Government, your “fellow” carriers that haul cheap freight and the below average IQ truckers that work for them!!! If you look around at truck stops you’ll be able to see many foreign drivers, with their own authority and 3 family members inside the cab rotating as drivers with only one them that has a CDL. Indians especially do this a lot.
    As long as these carriers and owner ops are still in business…. You can kiss living wages and rates GOODBYE.

    Take responsibility folk are you taking loads that pay less then your break even it is not always better to be loaded then empty it is not sustainable. Be safe out there drivers 🙏
