    Riley Chamberlain ran such a smart race. Patience but made all the right moves when they needed to be made. Comes from great coaching.

    Wow Riley! 4:27 mile split for BYU’s anchor leg! That is 2 seconds faster than the BYU indoor record and 3 seconds faster than her PR! She is killing it this year and in the record books at BYU for 800 m -3000 m!

    This is fun to watch! Chamberlin could hardly have run the last leg better but then all the team ran very well, well enough to win! The football and basketball teams could take pointers from these ladies.

      Yes, Riley was amazing. I bet she focused on the outcome and didn’t whine about the announcers. Maybe you could learn something from her?

    Congrats BYU! Wow, Riley Chamberlain is only a freshman. Great race!

    • @samanderson7745
      @samanderson7745 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not really a freshman though. I'm pretty sure she graduated high school in 2021 but looks to have went on a mission, as is typical for a lot of BYU athletes. So, she's sort of a super freshman because I think she's around 21 or so right now.

    • @Kimmer
      @Kimmer 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@samanderson7745 Actually, I was mistaken. Riley is a sophomore this year. I don't believe she has served a mission. Serving an LDS mission isn't conducive to training for Cross country running anyway and puts nearly every athlete behind physically upon returning. If missions were such an advantage, every coach in America would be encouraging it, but in fact the opposite occurs where they often will pull scholarships if LDS members decide to serve a mission. Certainly, there are maturity and mental benefits that comes with being older, but it's not fair to insinuate a big advantage because of this. Also, BYU has had many outstanding athletes who did not serve missions.

      @@Kimmer I understand what your saying, but you're missing a big point here, and that is physical growth. The amount that a human body develops from their late teens to their early twenties is not trivial. As anecdotal as this is when I graduated high school my 5k PR was around 17:45. After I graduated I didn't train at all for my first 3 years of college outside of keg stands and some skiing on the weekends. However, towards the end of my 3rd year a friend from high school CC (who hadn't been training either) and I decided to run a marathon together. A little over a month into training we ran our first 5k's since high school to see where we were at. I PR'd down to a 16:55 and I remember he dropped around a minute as well off his time to the mid 15's. Over the next month and a half I dropped about a minute off my time to my current PR of 15:58. Those times were when I was 21 years old. There's a reason that many programs redshirt freshmen because they aren't ready to compete against those 21-23 year olds and need an extra year to get ready.

      @Kimmer 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@samanderson7745 So, what you say may have merit for some people - I'll give you that. But I can guarantee that the vast majority of coaches would never choose to send a young athlete (runners, football players, etc) whose sport requires conditioning, on an LDS mission for 1.5 to 2 yrs where, they simply won't get an opportunity to maintain strength and VO2 type fitness. It often takes these athletes at least a year after returning to get their fitness back and they often are at high risk of injuries if they push it too quickly. Redshirtting is certainly advantageous if they continue to workout, but most missionaries don't have that opportunity. Understand your point however as many teenagers are late bloomers and physically mature late. I've just seen this used as an excuse too many times to explain BYU's success without realizing how difficult it is for an athlete to return to form after a mission. Like I said, few coaches will hold scholarships for athletes serving missions and it doesn't appear that Riley even served a mission. She is just an incredibly gifted runner with a bright future.

    Does any know if the girl in the last leg for Boston College who collapsed at the finish line was okay?
    I was in the seats for the race and saw that she wasn't able to move after the race and was almost unresponsive. I don't know what happened since the employees were getting us to leave the stands as it was the last race. I really hope she is okay, she was in bad shape from what I could see. 11:01

    It looks like the Providence girl’s leg got kicked or she landed on the leg of the girl infront of her which pushed her foot onto the rail and in order to not get disqualified she dove into the inside of the track because mid-stride her left leg jolts outward suddenly.

    Woman announcer has to hate BYU or what? Went silent and didn’t say the word the last two laps. Both were clearly bias, what’s the deal?

    As it is in so many sports finishes, whether in college or professional football or college track and field. Watch how few times the black athletes will congratulate a white first place finisher. In football when a white player scorers a touchdown watch how few if any black players come to congratulate him.

      i think her left leg got kicked in the back stride which cause her to step on the rail which caused her to twist her ankle and fall over
