Diane, that spinach and artichoke dip is extremely easy to make! Take one package of frozen chopped spinach (thawed and drained well), or use fresh if you don't have frozen, you will need about 1 1/2 cups of cooked chopped spinach. 4 cans of artichoke hearts chopped (don't get the marinated chokes, get those packed in water), 3 cups mayo, 1 jalapeno finely chopped (more or less depending on how hot you want it, or not), 2-3 cups grated Parmesan cheese, 1-2 cloves crushed garlic. Mix everything together and place in oven safe dish and bake in oven till it is bubbling. It is amazing with chips, garlic bread, bread sticks, tortillas......basically any and everything!
I would call Applebee's the "that's fine with me" dining option. If asked, "Are you cool with Applebee's for dinner?" most Americans would say, "That's fine with me."
I hope once you’ve covered the chain restaurants you’ll do a series on local favorites in maybe some small or mid sized US cities. I always think when watching you how much I’d love to show you some of my favorite local places in my town. Love your show! Happy New Year!
I do cover them a little bit but they’re buried inside other videos or bts. Generally, people don’t click if you dedicate a video to them unfortunately, and the trips are for the channel and so people want to watch them.

Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp with a side salad is our go-to order from Applebees. It's a tasty dinner that plays to their strengths and is reasonably healthy.
I just saw your videos!! Love them. I worked for Lidl in Ireland for 5 months in 2017....and went through the culture "shocks" that you are talking about. I lived in a hotel the whole time and ate out every day. FYI....boneless wings=chicken goujons.
If you like Applebees, definitely check out Chili's when you get a chance! Especially their triple appetizer sampler with some Big Mouth Bites (cheeseburger sliders that are absolutely stunning!).
When i take my parents to eat at Apple Bee’s we all order the same exact plate which is the grilled chicken with cooked mushrooms onions mashed potatoes and fried shrimp🍤. They bring it to you still steaming hot in a skillet right out of the grill . It’s unfortunate that you didn’t get to eat that delicious cooked food.

The Fiesta Lime Chicken is sooo good at Applebees. I've literally ordered it every time I've eaten there since I was 12 years old. I'm 41 now. They have a surprisingly good French Onion soup too
You dip a celery stalk into dips or other soft food, then bite off the piece. A popular example is filling it with peanut butter. Celery by itself has negative calories - your body burns more calories digesting it than it supplies.
After not having been to an Applebee's for a number of years, I started to really miss it. Eventually I was able to go to one and was so very disappointed by the way it had gone downhill in both service and the food, or at least at that location.
I haven’t been to Applebee’s in years. Don’t really know why it’s just out-of-the-way for me I guess. Remember the snowstorm I mentioned for yesterday and today? Ended up with 11 inches of snow and below freezing temperatures. 🥶 I’ve got a lot of shoveling to do. Glad you enjoyed Applebees. Take care! 🙏🏼

I've seen a lot of people online say that boneless wings are just sauced chicken nuggets, but that is very false. Chicken nuggets are mechanically separated chicken, light and dark meat, bleached, and formed back into a nugget shape. Boneless wings are chunks of white meat(chicken b____) breaded and then cooked. I had used that b word in a comment on another video recently and my comment was auto-deleted so I'm not saying it this time...
I've been asked the potato question before. The celery is for shoveling the blue cheese dressing in your mouth, which works well after the wings, especially if they are spicy. Bonelss wings is just chicken breasts cut in the shape of wings/
Thanks for giving me the the idea to have some Applebee's for dinner and get it delivered. Iam getting a chicken burger with fries, artichoke dip with crisp tortilla chips, cinnabon mini swirls for dessert. Applebee's also owned the Irish Pub and Grill Harrigan's my mother worked there. Artichoke dip is real easy to make and most grocery stores stores have it already made in the freezer section. Cinnamon goes good in breakfast desserts and drinks with chocolate and mixes. Cimamon toast is the easiest to make. Toast, Kerry gold butter, sugar, and cinnamon.

If you Wikipedia “Bennigan’s” (I don't think they started in Ireland0, you can learn where chains like Applebee’s, Cheesecake Factory, Chili’s, TGI Fridays, and Ruby Tuesday were born in the States. In a nutshell, in the early ‘80s, someone decided that yuppies needed somewhere to go after work for drinks and appetizers (an early version of “Happy Hour”), and the Bennigan’s chain was born. It was basically a pub with a restaurant around it, like all the chains I just mentioned today. They eventually made them more family-friendly and downplayed the bar atmosphere to widen the clientele pool. Then the other chains sprang up. We used to go to Applebee’s, but we stopped going to restaurants around COVID, as they became too expensive (Applebee's these days actually advertises meals between 10-15 bucks each as “what a deal!” More like steal), and we figured out we could find most of this stuff in grocery stores. Hell, all those appetizers are in the frozen food section. Much cheaper, and you can eat in the comfort of your own home.
I know they're one of those restaurants where a lot of things come in Frozen and they just heat them up for you. If I go there, I will often get a sandwich or a steak, I think the Bourbon Street shrimp works well for me. Those I know will be made fresh

My young daughter was showing off her learning-skills by discovering and learning "pomaecous" - apple-like. She would use that word and get the "you're too young to know such a BIG word" and "you're too young to know how to spell that BIG word" reaction, which was a most wonderful reaction for her. Anyway, we went to an Applebee's and she pronounced almost immediately, "This doesn't smell pomaceous TO ME-!" with a stern tone and almost accusing the waitress of tricking her, conning her into this eatery. The waitress was taken aback, but then started playing that game with her, that the Waitress HAD to give our daughter something apple-y, something pomaceous. Pie was excellent, of course, but as we left, our daughter snorted, "That's not really deserving the Apple name." So there - !! A decade later, she has never returned. Pity the poor high-school date that takes her to Applebee's for a upscale meal. "Ewww... not there - !"

Thanks Diane! We do have a few Applebee’s locations in Canada, but it has been a few years since I went to one. I personally think that boneless wings are just a fancy way of saying chicken nuggets. I acknowledge that I could be wrong though. Everything you had ordered looked very tasty. I’m hungry now. 😁
If you going to hang out in the Boston area, you need to head a little North and visit the town of Newbury Port. Some really good sea food and a great little town to walk around the shore!! And yes, Boston is a great city... The North End is AWESOME!!!!!
I best remember Applebee's in the early to mid-90s. There was one in my hometown and old high school people in town for college break would hang out there. It was the starting place for drinking before we headed to other dive bars in the area. The local Applebee's where I live now closed before the pandemic. I have no idea if there are any in the State of Georgia, but that Applebee's in my hometown is still open.
It's been a long while since I was at Applebees last... I do still miss their old Lunch thing with their soups and salads that they had for a while...an interesting mix of options and ones that weren't just the basics either. I'd get that and one of their appetizers and deal with things since I always ended up going when family was going, so they'd sit and talk about things for hours and the soup/salad was as many reorders as you wanted and could swap through the different ones.
Applebee's is one the only restaurants I decided never to eat at again. Bear in mind that was only after several sub-par steaks, my friend getting a half-raw chicken sandwich, and me having the worst food poisoning of my whole life after eating there.
We would always go to Applebee's growing up so I've eaten there a lot. Some some reason last year Applebee's decided to close all but 2 of the KC locations which is odd since their main office used to be 10 minutes from my data's house and near my high school.
My city has a dedicated app for public transportation that tells you in real time how long before the bus arrives at your location. Plus, you can plan out your trip and see where delays are.
An Applebee's opened more than a decade ago not even a 10 minute walk away and it's still there. Went there about three times shortly thereafter but haven't been back since. Many better dining alternatives in the area but none better than home. I am spoiled.
I never knew you could get 2 desserts at 1 time!! I'm gonna have to start reviewing food (I assume it's in the name of science). Thanks for my new career nudge😂🎉🎉🎉
You really can get jobs as food taster. They will buy the food and send it to you. You just have to be a good writer. I don't think it makes tons of money, but it's a living
@@LindaC616 one of my many old jobs was as a food taster, but we didn’t make it very much money because there weren’t too many jobs in Dublin and we had to go to a special laboratory to try everything
@@DianeJennings ahhh! I just learned it today on a site that was telling people different types of jobs that you can do with limited contact with people. So many of them can be done at home or you do them at work but you just don't have to talk to anyone
Diane, If your still in the boston area head about 20 minutes north of the city and ask a local for a good roast beef and seafood place to get what we call a north shore 3-way roast beef sandwich. It's thinly sliced rare roast beef made in house daily and bbq sauce - American cheese and mayo on a onion roll.
also I know your not a big fan of seafood but in ipswitch or essex mass just 20-30 minutes(with traffic) north of boston we make the best fried seafood. we don't use wet batter we use dredge method of coating seafood in crispy breading, known for our fried clams and scallops.
I cracked up at your comment about it tasting like "home food". I NEVER go to Applebee's in the town I live in and not because I don't like it but because most things on their menu (that I would order) are things my wife or I make at home. However, when I'm traveling Applebee's is my favorite dinner restaurant... unless there's a nice "mom & pop" restaurant nearby. I like it when I travel, because most travel food is fast food. Applebee's offers some basic soups, veg, and meats. They also run a pretty decent bar. One thing I've noticed is they often feature local beers, wines, and whiskey's depending on the location. I love that!
I highly recommend Diane tries America's best / biggest Chinese food franchise, P.F. Chang's. The flavors are addictive. It's global now including the UK. Personally I love their lettuce wraps and crispy honey chicken.
You seem like such a fun person. I've seen you in vids for a few years now, beginning with the Try Channel and you always seem so ready for adventure. Editor Diane is brutal but very funny. If you're ever in northwestern Pennsylvania give us a shout. Ta.

Treat Yourself to some Shortbread Cookie/Bisucits and Your favorite Dinner.
Happy Monday Diane. It’s been quite awhile since I’ve been to an Applebees. Celery is pretty good dipped in ranch sauce. If I was a potato, I would be an Irish potato lol. Usually White potatoes are called Irish potatoes, because they were the ones brought by the Irish immigrants when they came to the U.S.A. But any kind of a potato is a good potato. 🥔
Your experience at Applebee's was better than mine. In recent years, anyway. They used to be better many years ago, but have declined in the past 15 to 20 years. Unless the one in Boston was significantly better than the franchises in my area.
Every time I come to believe that you couldn't possibly be more delightful, you up the ante and prove me wrong. OK. I get it... delightful is NOT just what you do for work, it's who you are. Ya can't turn it off. Nice!
The "boneless" wings aren't wings. LOL They are chunks of chicken breast. They can get away with calling them wings because both the wings and breasts are white meat which is all the FDA cares about. For example, New Jersey has a meat product called Pork Roll. Before the FDA was a thing, Pork Roll was called Taylor Ham. North Jersey still calls it Taylor Ham. But FDA stepped in and said that Taylor can't call it ham because there wasn't enough "ham" in it. So after that it became Taylor Pork Roll. Besides, boneless wings sounds better than chunks of breaded chicken.🙂 The size seems to be the deciding factor between boneless wings, popcorn chicken and chicken tenders. Same breaded chicken in each case LOL
My favorite potato joke: Potatoes are the hardest working veg. It makes french fries, crisps, tater tots and Vodka It's like the rest of the veg aren't even trying!
I've generally enjoyed Applebees. It's kind of in the "generic family restaurant chain" range, but they usually have a nice variety of options and in my experience, pretty tasty. One of the better "generic family restaurants".
Hello Diane. Jim Wilson here. I LOVE APPLEBEE'S! That appetizer tray is one of their signature items. If you take a second trip to Applebee's, you need to try the pub pretzels with the two dipping sauces. For an entree, a quesadilla burger is an excellent choice, but so are the baby back ribs with the honey BBQ sauce. You can save enough room for dessert and box whatever is left over. Oh yeah, soft drinks refills for free is never a bad thing, either. You seemed to enjoy your first visit. And now, I want to go to my local Applebee's.
Sadly, Applebees is one of a breed of suburban family restaurants of a type that are slowly dying in the USA. Every shopping mall in America used to be surrounded by restaurants like Applebees, Bennigans, Olive Garden, Outback Steakhouse and Ruby Tuesday... and many more. They were aimed at middle-class families and although each had their own theme, they had generic menus that always included a selection of burgers, a chicken dish or two, mac & cheese for the kids and the food was generally carb rich and inoffensively bland. But, as people have gravitated away from shopping malls, and healthy eating becomes more of a priority, such restaurant chains are fading into oblivion.
I cooked at Applebee's for 6 years. All of their proteins are frozen, along with much of their menu. You notice a difference once you've gotten your pallet accustomed to fresh proteins.
YAY? Fast family food. I don't mind Applebees but like when I went to Sydney for business, I only got Starbucks coffee. I went to lunch and dinner at every hole in the wall or recommended restaurant from my client. Even like food, pizza or pasta for example, was like going to New York except better quality. Everything was more to scratch and fresh ingredients.
I’m at Applebees almost every Friday. I almost never have dessert. For me,most don’t mix with the beer I have. I have try almost everything Applebees have. But not seafood food. Don’t care for it. Most that work there know me. Sometimes I see freands there too. You can always find me at the bar.
I don't know if you're allowed to be so offput by that guy asking the potato question after it directly inspired such a deeply introspective monologue, lol.
I would like to unofficially, cause why be so official, invite you to visit Fargo, North Dakota. We do have a few Irish Bars. Not really pubs, but the owners are of Irish descent. There is Duffy's and Dempsey's, and The Blarney Stone. Although, there is a Movie called Fargo and a TV series, they have little to nothing to do with Fargo. Fargo is all about agriculture and NDSU. North Dakota State University. It is a Large University that has won 9 National Championships in American Football. It is playing tonight for its tenth. It is on the border with Moorhead, Minnesota. If you do decide to visit, the best time to visit is Summer during the Street Fair or the "Red River Valley Fair".
I remember going with my Dad when they had the endless boneless wings, shrimp and ribs. It was a pretty good deal. If you’re ever in Upstate New York, I would definitely recommend trying Lanie’s Cafe.
Diane went to Applebee’s, boneless wings, blah blah blah ED did some fact checking about dips, yada ya ya ya Is my full attention on this poem, not really, no, nah I got distracted by potatoes, I need another verse, aahh! Sweet potato casserole with the marshmallows, because you don’t expect at the main course
I would be a “loaded” baked potato. After I drank too much. 😂

Applebee's reminds me of the late 90s. They used to sell $1 Long Island iced teas.
In the 90s, I probably would have put them out of business😅😅
Hahaha 🥴
@@DianeJennings I'm not kidding. I used to do 5-7 pints on a weekend night
@@LindaC616 me too
@chipparmley 🤣🤣 the sad part was that in those days, Brandy was the only thing that would give me a hangover
Happy Monday! I love Applelebees.very good food. Have a awesome week.
Thank you! You too!
Thanks for reviewing it Diane!
It was fun!
If you going to hang out in the Boston area, you need to head a little North and visit the town of Newbury Port. Some really good sea food and a great little town to walk around the shore!! And yes, Boston is a great city... The North End is AWESOME!!!!!
I did!
@@DianeJennings Did you get to eat in the Black Cow, really nice place with great food.
Being from there originally I concur.
Id love to see you visit a Bennigan's.
I think I speak for everyone when I say that you really don't need to speed through your ramblings...they are very charming.
That’s cool! You need a spot like that when you’re in university for sure
Chili's and Applebee's are both underrated. Good food at reasonable price
Applebee's is one the only restaurants I decided never to eat at again. Bear in mind that was only after several sub-par steaks, my friend getting a half-raw chicken sandwich, and me having the worst food poisoning of my whole life after eating there.
Diane you are truly a candle in the window on a cold dark winters night listen to the song to find out the meaning
That Blondie is fabulous! And the artichoke dip is good too
We would always go to Applebee's growing up so I've eaten there a lot. Some some reason last year Applebee's decided to close all but 2 of the KC locations which is odd since their main office used to be 10 minutes from my data's house and near my high school.
That is odd!
Spoiled rotten I’m jealous
@@DianeJennings You have an open invitation to come on over for some home cooked Chinese food next time anytime you're in town :)
I like getting that same appetizer dish you got. It keeps me full all day.😊❤
I never knew you could get 2 desserts at 1 time!!
Right?! the whole grown-up card has been a game changer. They let you do whatever you want! You just have to pay the money.
Too funny Diane, especially that you seemed to like most of what you tried, good on you!
I highly recommend Diane tries America's best / biggest Chinese food franchise, P.F. Chang's. The flavors are addictive. It's global now including the UK. Personally I love their lettuce wraps and crispy honey chicken.
The celery is meant to be chased by the wings and dipped in the ranch or buttermilk dressing.
Boston brings out the Irish accent from Diane.
Diane, you should have messaged your community sooner. We could have gone and eat with you, I mean, you did get enough food for all of us. 😊❤
You seem like such a fun person. I've seen you in vids for a few years now, beginning with the Try Channel and you always seem so ready for adventure. Editor Diane is brutal but very funny. If you're ever in northwestern Pennsylvania give us a shout. Ta.
Today is Apple Tree Day, Epiphany Day Also known Three Kings Day, King Cake Day, Shortbread Cookie/Biscuit Day a new tin full of some Shortbread Cookie/Biscuits sounds really good, Take a Poet to Lunch Day, Bean Day some Ranch Style Beans with Potato Salad, Mac & Cheese, BBQ Brisket and BBQ Chicken sounds good, Technology Day celebrating how Technology improves quality of Life, Cuddle Up Day. Since it Cuddle Up Day give Chewies some Extra Cuddles with Snacks. I think Ireland has the Best Shortbread Cookie/Biscuits and I like the Shamrock tins.
Yes, equal rights for all potatoes
Deep fried or microwaved, that pretty much sums up their menu.
Nice!
8:32 "Candied" is just the process for the pecans. Not a separate nut...
Diane, since you’re in the Boston area, you must go to Route 1 in Sharon and try Mick Morgan's Irish Pub & Restaurant. 👍
Applebee's is chain food; decent, not spectacular. Mick Morgan's is really good food, and a REALLY cool room. Cool pub vibes.
You just picked my favorite meal! 🥰
My favorite potato joke: Potatoes are the hardest working veg. It makes french fries, crisps, tater tots and Vodka It's like the rest of the veg aren't even trying!
😂
I've generally enjoyed Applebees. It's kind of in the "generic family restaurant chain" range, but they usually have a nice variety of options and in my experience, pretty tasty. One of the better "generic family restaurants".
I live right down the street. I love the Five Below and Ulta .
The $10 burger is good last minute bite.
That’s cool! I did another taste test in this area. Stay tuned. Loved the TJ Maxx there.
She's blocking the sign. Dorchester?
Hooray!! you’re the second person to mention the ribs. Maybe next time.
I would be a loaded baked potato. Maybe Au Gratin
The riblets are by far the best and most unique thing on their menu. I always fear Applebee's closing because nobody else has them.
Oh dear! Someone in another comment said that they filed for bankruptcy. But forever 21 did that like 10 years ago and their shops are still around?
The reason for the celery sticks is to calm the heat from spicey food.
Ohhhh that’s interesting. You learn something new every day.
I’m not using Amazon anymore. I bought some grain for my chickens
When it came, they sent an email, asking for feedback
😂
I cooked at Applebee's for 6 years. All of their proteins are frozen, along with much of their menu. You notice a difference once you've gotten your pallet accustomed to fresh proteins.
YAY? Fast family food. I don't mind Applebees but like when I went to Sydney for business, I only got Starbucks coffee. I went to lunch and dinner at every hole in the wall or recommended restaurant from my client. Even like food, pizza or pasta for example, was like going to New York except better quality. Everything was more to scratch and fresh ingredients.
Just keep in mind, that a Chain restaurant will Usually not equal in Quality of a Mom & Pop Restaurants! Yes I do Like Appelees also.🤔
I guess it depends on your perspective. Glad you like it!
Thank you, E.D. I immediately said baked potatoe. It took her 7 minutes to arrive at the same conclusion.
The celery is to help cut the heat From the boneless wings. I think it works pretty well. Just saying
0:58 it’s better they misunderstand based on what you ordered rather than just looking at you. 😂
I really love Applebbbee!!
Me too!
Applebees looked great! (Made me want to run for the pantry!😂😂) loved the looks of tha cinnamon dessert too!😊😊😊
Sooooo good! Yum yum 😋
Sounds good
Diane went to Applebee’s, boneless wings, blah blah blah
ED did some fact checking about dips, yada ya ya ya
Is my full attention on this poem, not really, no, nah
I got distracted by potatoes, I need another verse, aahh!
If it’s not Thanksgiving, this potato gets overlooked
It’s tasty and healthy and so many ways it can be cooked
If I had to pick one tuber that represents me
The underrated Sweet Potato is the one I would be
2:29 yes, whenever I hear someone say they don’t like mozzarella sticks, I wonder if they’ve been body snatched
Diane, since you're in Boston why don't you shoot through the tunnel tomorrow and go get a pizza at Santarpio's in East Boston or go to Belle Isle Seafood. You'll love it!
I’m all pizza’d out since Chicago 😂
@@DianeJennings those are not considered pizza in Boston. Too thick and soggy! 🤢You haven't lived till you had a real thin crust Italian pizza. 👍

I didn’t like cheese growing up. I did like pizza - so yes I did like Mozzarella.
But I don’t like stinky cheese especially or sharp or blue.
