Very helpful seeing everyones different mods. Hiker looks like the small unit Im considering. Done with big RV's. Looking to customize the heck out of it once I get one. Mind is screaming with ideas. Thanks for putting out the videos.
Ya know, I camp a lot and mods to camp are a big thing. I like it so much that the best people can come up with is a solar panel or some lights… says a lot about what you’re buying. I so want one.
Matt and Wendy. I picked up my Hiker Camper last Friday! I'm excited to get out with it. I want to thank you for your videos. I got the burgundy color because of you and its awesome. and I am going through your amazon stuff right now. I need to deck this thing out! lol. I found some bins at target that fit perfect on the second shelf in the galley. again, thank you for your videos! maybe ill run into you guys in Petoskey sometime. I go there every year and now it will be so much better being off the ground.
When you rent out your trailer is there a roof top tent or is there a tent to attach to the trailer cause we are thinking of renting one out to see if we like it . We would need a shower area and a tent area attached to the trailer cause we have a son and sometimes he likes to take a friend with so it would be nice to have a tent for the kids but attached to the trailer. And I love your videos and your newest red trailer. Thanks Kelly Rizzo
We will have a shower room attached to use as a changing room. We do not have a roof top tent, but offer a Gazelle ground tent (quick set up) for additional people. Glad to hear you are enjoying the videos - please subscribe if you haven't already :-)
I love these videos! We live within an hour of Hiker (Indy), and strongly considered one, but ultimatly ordered a Runaway Rangerunner. We're traveling to Florida next month to pick it up. Earlier this week we ordered a roof tent for my daughter to have her own space too. I think from one of your other videos I'll get one of the Moon shades, but I can't decide between that or something like the ARB retractbile awning - which we could add an additional room to.
The moonshade is more compact and takes up less room. it has optional walls at a great price with easy setup. The ARb awnings you have more of a two person setup , make sure you taper a side for rain or you will break with with ponding water. We know after a renter forgot and broke it. The setup is easy with two and having it live on the trailer is very convenient.
Thanks for posting these vids! They have provided my wife and I ton’s of ideas. We have a build on order. Hoping to get delivery notification anytime now. I am in to astophotography so naturally one of our camping objectives is to get to dark sky locations. In a few of your videos I’ve heard owners talk about how bright the factory exterior lights are. Red lights are best to use as they don’t affect your eyes. Does anyone in this community know of lamps that are switchable between white and red that I could replace the factory exterior lamps? Thanks for any suggestions.
Evening Matt and Wendy.. I stopped by Hiker Trailer today and talked to Kyle and he and I have a question on a mod? So on the AC prep vents you guys use the 90° elbows w/screens on the XL. Would those work with the frige box and upper rack on the XL? Hoobilly
You can put the vent covers directly on the AC vents if you want. We add the 90 elbow to prevent water to come in when there is a sideways rain. You could also have the 90 elbows go sideways -towards side of the trailer/towards each other vs down towards the toolbox. We have not personally tried the 90 elbow with the fridge box/upper rack, so can't say for sure one way or the other.
How deep is the standard Hiker optioned shelf? If you have the 5x9 or 5x10 the Amazon items on the floor might work but I still need that floor space for my mattress.
I'm slowly working my way through all your videos as I'm going to be purchasing a hiker trailer soon. Is there any specific forum that is for the hiker trailers or a mailing list of owners?
Once you put your order in, you can be added to the FB owners page. There is a lot of information and mods people have done to their trailers. A great place to ask questions of other owners (1st search the archives as many times newbies ask questions that have already been answered). Hiker Trailer can get you added.
Cool ideas 👍. I've been searching for a tongue jack with wheel (preferably 2 wheels,) that will fit (and stow/rotate horizontal) for the tongue on a Mid Range XL that has the toolbox and front tire mount. Not a big fan of the flat "foot" device that comes with the trailer.
@@MWDAdventures True. I've searched lots of websites with not much luck. It'd be nice if Hiker could come up with a design, and have it as an option for the various trailer tongue variations they have, and/or make it available for order in their "store". Fairly sure they'd have some buyers for that item.
Anja sent me links the the various bins she is using. BIns on the top shelf: amzn.to/3fhbujg Bins on the middle shelf: amzn.to/3DGpcFP BIns on the bottom shelf - dry goods: amzn.to/3FtNIex
WoW how fricken spoiled people really are today , this is by far not what camping is about , a coffee maker really & also making food where you are sleeping is a VERY BAD thing to do as you attract animals like bears which is not a good thing but people are stupid to be polite about it
Thanks to all who shared! I love the black and red curtains. Think I'll go with a plaid!
Very nice content,people & ideas
A special thanks to Bob for taking time out to explain the solar system to me! Thanks Matt&Wendy another great VIDEO.
Again, thank you so much for your time and energy in doing these videos.
Glad you like them!
Some really cool setups.

We have not seen two trailers exactly the same. Everyone has fun making it their own.
Thanks for the ideas. Makes me wonder if it wouldn't be better to order it stripped so I can build it how I want vs a factory build.
You are correct. If you have the skills you can save money and build it out yourself.

Congrats on the new trailer!! Glad we could help. Great choice in color :-). Love Petoskey!

We have a video where I put a film over the factory lights and switch them to orange. If you prefer the film can be bought in red.

I'd like a link to that front storage Wayne has a 10:47.
I have been looking into that too!! I have found a couple options on Amazon:

Having the front tire makes it more difficult to find a wheel that can stay attached in transit.

Great video. Can Steve and Anno (about 19 minutes into the video) share where they got their galley bins/drawers? Thanks!
