For those of you who like the sound of McRockin's guitar tones do yourself a favor and get this today. Best $100 you're going to spend in a while.
Sounds fantastic! I'd love to learn more about how you developed this software suite. How you decided on features/tones/interface, what it was like communicating that to developers, how much effort went into tweaking all the sounds etc. Maybe even how it's programmed and works behind the scenes. Nerdy stuff!
wow this is awesome - beautiful interface - so much diversity in tone shaping - must have for any guitarist/composer audio production person/studio - nice job here Thomas - most important the sounds are amazing
@@matthewmp111 For me, it's the cleanness of the input signal and how it translates to the preamps. Over the years of trying Guitar Rig, Amplitube, Sansamp, Digidesign, and Logic amplifier emulators, all of them suffered from awful preamp noise and unsatisfactory overdrive. Even with an average USB preamp, Polychrome just sounds incredible, like a dedicated hardware modeller.
Back when I first heard that you were working on this, I knew it was going to be a game changer. Installed and noodled around this afternoon and I was right, it’s EPIC! I only got thru around half of the presets and they are awesome! Well done Thomas and the team! 😁👍
Nice demo and really liking the sound. I was wondering though...the latency is nice and all, but how CPU efficient is the plugin overall? Is it less power hungry than those of known competitors?
It’s around 30% lighter on resources than our competitors, it’s also Apple Silicon native and our install size is incredibly small for what’s included. 👍🏻
Hi Thomas. Amazing work on the plugin. Downloaded the trial and having lots of fun with it. Awesome tones!! One question - in audio/Midi settings, I can select my midi footswitch from the active midi inputs but I can't figure out how to 'learn' midi notes to control the elements of the plugin, like the FX. I couldn't find anything in the pdf manual - am I missing something obvious? Also, a few things that I think would really make this plugin unbeatable would be a built in tuner, a mute button, a metronome and a tap tempo on the delay. The ability to stack the reverbs would also be awesome too - like a short room (shop) and then space with a longer tail - but I appreciate that could be way out of scope! :)
I tried out the plugin and oh boy does it have well defined lead tones and flexibility! Great job! There's one thing that I've been trying to figure out. Is there some kind of auto-tune type of note definer or something? I can't understand how this digs up and details my playing much more than any amp or plugin ever before. Feels like it's almost impossible to not play clearly and with incredible precision. Sure, I can hear if my guitar is out of tune so if there's any kind of auto-tune, it has to be flexible and not limited to semitone intervals rather than microtones or quantumtones lol and the incredible gate just drops the cherry on top. Or maybe this just makes me play better. What a great plugin!
It could be because our latency is generally incredibly low VS some other plugins. The result is it feels super responsive. Especially so with 1.2. Sonic Empire. Enjoy!!
Sounds fantastic Thomas! I really like your streamlined approach to create your own custom artist based plugin. It seems extremely versatile. Just curious... did you create this plugin by using something like the Neural or Fractal capture technology to capture all of your favorite gear into custom IR's and then hire a software developer to build all of your IR's into a custom user interface?
Hey thanks! No we do not ‘sample’ or profile in any way. So every drive, and amp etc, is built from scratch. It’s more work this way, but gives a much better final result 👍🏻
This looks awesome. That said, I've never done more than plug a guitar into a couple pedals and an amp. DO you have, or can you recommend, a video or two that start at the absolute beginning when it comes to getting into software like this? I'm finding that a lot of the "introductions" out there still assume I know more than I do. (and ya, I'm searching the internet, but was also curious what you yourself might recommend.) Thanks!

I have some questions. Thomas' demo was great. I want to know if this is just an "expansion pack" and I need to buy some host for this to work or is it a stand alone plugin. Also-on the acoustic demos he just did. Is he using a piezo or split that Fishman Fluence down to a single coil. And if I wanted to use tis as a live guitar tone, is there a footswitch to buy for this to control it live? Thanks for your time!
You can use the plug-in standalone or in your a Daw such as logic, Cubase or Ableton etc. On the acoustic, Thomas used Fishman Fluence. But the acoustic sim works amazing with any single coil input. We’ve tested it with Fender, Ibanez, PRS, Kiesel etc. For foot switches, there’s lots on the market and we’re currently working with some companies to make it work great right out of the box. That update will be coming real soon 👍🏻
@@polychromedsp I also use Fishman Fluence which is why I was asking if that is what he was using here or if he had a piezo in that guitar. It will work with Protools?
A hundred megabytes or so in total for the standalone app and all of the DAW plugin formats. The standalone program is a tiny 15.9MB. Obviously beautifully efficient code.

Well, I gave this plugin a try a few days back and I wasn't so impressed ....till I realized, by using my "traditional" amp sims, that my UA Console driving my Apollo interface for some reason did mess up the usual channel strip and preamp thus giving my sounds an undesirable sparkling touch. Today I hit the button on this video and ....wow, ...it can't be that this plugin had to be that bad so I decided to give it a second try to its demo and ... I'm glad to say that it's really a beast of amp sim, covering everything and more. Yeah, I'm gonna buy it ... p.s. watch properly your tools before judging 🙂
Very well done. The acoustic amp alone is worth the price. So, the next challenge is to manufacture a very small pedal board fitting in a gigbag with the required cpu power to take your 8 favorite tones to a gig (I wrote 8 but 5 could be enough for most of us), under 500$, with all outputs required to feed the console and the stage cab, no touch screen needed as all edits would be made through laptop or phone, and with just 3 digital knobs above each switch to adjust on the fly Gain, FX volume (delay & verb to match the venue) and main Volume for each preset/switch. And this would be the dream package for 80% of guitar playing situations :p) An optional (included ) wireless transmitter would be the cherry on Santa's cake
Just wanted to drop another comment in here and rave about it some more... You can really tell how every part of this software is carefully crafted with purpose; nothing is phoned in and just there for the sake of being there.
I would like to know how to achieve 0 latency ..what audio drivers should I be using( Microsoft) or (AISO) because neither of them are able to offer 0 latency...I think its important for a new users...using this software
The plug-in runs at near 0 latency. Your interface will have some latency, McRocklin has his set at 6ms total round trip which feels incredibly responsive.
I really like it i cyber lead is my fav, things that i would like to have - a tuner -making it work with a boss fs-1-wl or midi controller for switching channels But other than that, this is my favorite pluggin right now.
Also Neural allows a FULL trial of their plugin. Whereas Polychrome will cut off 3 seconds of sound for every minute of trial AND limit your use to 10 presets without the “saving” option. In my opinion, this is a weird way to make a guitar player like your product…
Hey thanks for your comment and for checking the plug-in out. We don’t disable any features, such as amps, and effects etc. Most people seem to be loading the default patch ‘Int preset’, see how efficient and responsive it is to your playing, and then quickly upgrade to the full version. On some products ten presets is a pretty decent amount, remember the Int preset also everything setup and ready to use. Thomas did go full beast mode on his presets though! Thanks again.

Can’t wait to try this my MacBook is only 2012 but it’s running catalina & with a decent spec . My iMac is 2015 & running Monterey or Ventura I think . They both meet & exceed the minimum standards on the web page .
Thanks for an informative video
Are you serious WOW WHAT A PLUG IN...tell me I'm getting what i just heard...its nothing short of ground breaking...seriously epic stuff
Enjoy! 💜💜💜
This is a stand alone. There's a lot more answers in the Polychrome DSP discord
@@thatbaldguitarguy Absolutely, all plug-in formats are included.
Awesome!! How many devices can this be installed on per license?
You get 10 included as standard :)
Already set up my tones for my next EP :D :D feeling inspired by this amazing tool !! thanks guys !
🙌🏻
McRocklin' in a box... I like this idea. I'll give the demo a try, but my QC might get jealous!
His QC didn't 👀
can you record on fl studio with this?
Does McRocklin Suite fully function with UA Luna running on UA Apollo x6?
It certainly does, no issues at all! :)
I can confirm this, as I have not been able to put down my guitar for the past 18 hours since I installed PolyChrome DSP McRocklin Suite. Cheers!
I have a PC and an iPad. Do I have to choose a platform or can I register both platforms for one purchase?
You get both PC and Mac installs included.
This product is not for iPad. 👍🏻
I really consider buying this, but I would like to know how many GB it is on a mac? It must be taking up a lot of space.
A hundred megabytes or so in total for the standalone app and all of the DAW plugin formats. The standalone program is a tiny 15.9MB. Obviously beautifully efficient code.
The clean sound is just from the software? Clean into a interface?
Yep 👍🏻 di direct to interface.
How much space does this plugin take on the mac? Must be a lot of GB.
Just bought the plug-in. Sounds great!!!!
Can I use the midi controller to change the patch or effects in the future?
Thank you! Thomas used Ableton but native switching is coming too 👍🏻
Just got the vst amazing sounds this is the goto suite for beginners to experienced great work.
What audio interface is recommended?
Hi, our users are using anything from Focusrite Solo’s to RME Baby Face Pro, and Universal Audio products. Feel free to join the community on polychromedsp.com/discord where all of things are frequently being discussed 👍🏻
Is there a possibility to change presets without latency via an USB MIDI controller? (Something which Neural DSP cannot do without a noticeable latency)
Coming real soon :)
Phenomenal guitarist! absolutely next level
Do the plugins need some kind of software to work? In other words, is it enough to buy and download the PolyChrome DSP or do I need something else to make it work? As you can see, I don't know anything about computer plugins and I want to start using them. Thank you.
Hi, this works standalone or with recording software. So other than having an audio interface you don’t need much else. Feel free to drop by polychromedsp.com/discord many of the users as well as the team are on there to help you get started, and much more. Have a great weekend.
@@polychromedsp Thank you! Likewise...
Ok, finally I bought the software. Let's see how it sounds... 🙂
will there be a hardware version?
No plans.
@@polychromedsp cool, means I don't have to spend more money lol
I was thinking how it would be possible to use this in a live situation is all.
Loving the plugin BTW.
Dos it have a IR loader in it?
It's had lot features added since this release. We have a lot of production ready speaker chains in the latest release. It's likely 1.7 will include IR loading. Check out the free demo 👍🏻
@@polychromedsp I bought it 2 days ago and I really enjoyed how it's sound and for all of features in it, they are great. But I just realized it's doesn't have a IR Loader, I hope it will include in the next update soon👌👌
I'm having trouble getting my Polychrome to play into Garageband. Any suggestions? I'm using a Scarlet 212 into Garageband.
Hey, we've not had any issues of Logic/GarageBand not picking up the McRocklin Suite, or any other plugin. If you are still experiencing issues, please drop us a support ticket on the website, or feel free to pop on Discord at polychromedsp.com/discord where members of the team, mods and other users can more easily help out. Thanks!
I’m in love. Absolutely love it.
🙌🏻
Dude this is KILLING 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Check out the latest 1.6 release 💜
such an awesome guitarist!
Wohoo! I would love to buy you a beer sometime and talk about that time in Hollywood Bowl 1993 when you opened for Joe Satriani, ran out in the audience and almost gave me a high five! We could also talk about women, cats, and why there is night in one spot and daytime at another at the same time and the sillyness why flat earthers don't get it. Cheers from Sweden! :)
Haha sounds like an epic moment. (Thomas here) I believe my mum flew over for that gig, so it was a very special show, as it was the first time she’d seen me play live at that type of venue!
We must connect on that high five some day 🙌🏻
Just bought this. Sounds amazing
Thank you! : )
please share how to external midi control!!!! already bought one
Thomas uses Ableton currently, native midi support is coming in an update 👌🏻
What hardware connects the guitar to the PC or Mac?
An audio interface 👍🏻
@@polychromedsp Thank you.
@@polychromedsp I bought a Behringer U-Phoria UM2 interface, plugged it all in, installed the ASIO driver, turned off Mute on the input - no sound. Not sure how this is so easy for everyone. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
@@CelestialStudiosUS be sure to have the latest available version of the plugin installed. If you are running the demo, download the updated one from our site, otherwise the full version from your account. If you need support, contact us via our site or on our discord channel here: polychromedsp.com/discord
Very cool. I really wish you would alter your demo though. Doing a one or 2 week trial of the FULL plug in is so much better, getting access to all the presets , etc to see if I really want to drop the money on it.
Is this not the case ? So what do you get with the demo ?
@@roryt1985 you get access to around 10 presets out of hundreds and then every 60 seconds it mutes it for 3 seconds. It’s really bizarre.
All the features just minus the presets are available, happy exploring 👍🏻
how will you use it live?
Thomas will use it via Ableton, but standalone will have more features soon too 🤘🏻
i don't understand how this with latency works, i downloaded the demo version, used ASIO4ALL set the samples to 64 Samples ( 0.4ms ) and i still get hearable latency. Does everyone just play with that latency or am i doing something wrong ?
I would love to buy the PolyChrome DSP but i am still better of with direct audio monitoring and my MXR pedal at the moment :(
Hello! It sounds like your audio interface doesn’t natively support low latency asio drivers. Feel free to pop in to our community Discord for done advice, we’ve a lot of users that recently got up and running. That’s here:
www.polychromedsp.com/discord
We’re so happy you gave it a chance and figured out your issue, thank you! 👋🏻
This looks very cool...zero delay you say? oh my, got my attention now
The plug-in runs at 0.045ms. It’s very VERY low latency :)
Thank you! : )
Sounds great
Just wanted to drop another comment in here and rave about it some more... You can really tell how every part of this software is carefully crafted with purpose; nothing is phoned in and just there for the sake of being there.
Thank you Sean! So happy you’re enjoying it as much as we are.
Exciting!!!
🤘😎👍 Nice work dude!
Thank you! : )
I just found my next birthday self-present :D sounds amazing, I also love Thomas' style!
💜👋🏻
You're going to love it! I do.
I really like it i cyber lead is my fav, things that i would like to have
- a tuner
-making it work with a boss fs-1-wl or midi controller for switching channels
But other than that, this is my favorite pluggin right now.
Thank you! : )
Also, those will be included soon.
Neural DSP Quad Cortex: Differences?
This doesn’t have foot switch?!
QC is hardware this is software, and a lot less money.
@@polychromedsp This was part 2 of my comment below regarding the user interface which I did not like
I bought it earlier during the launch.
Thank you!!
Dude I just found you ❤….lets Go 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
