Just imagine how many veterans could have competed and attended if they had paid for the veterans instead of private jets, multi thousands per night on the best hotel suites available, and wardrobe for the wife. I can see where your comming from about Harry and climbing the steps of st Paul's alone, everything is pr, and if he does get paid for doing all this he's certainly not thinking of the veterans he is there for, it really sickens me that they think of their money of what they can get out if it, poor megs needs to keep her wardrobe up as no freebies🤔. Although Harry, I thought looked happy being on his own 😂, but did wonder if this would backfire on the King not seeing his son. The papers are always there to backlash before getting all their facts right. As the King's engagements are made well in advance and am sure with him he picked the ones he would attend, as surely he would have known that it was 10 years of invictus games was coming up? (perhaps he didn't want to upstage his son?) 🤔 and Prince William has Princess Katherine to think about so I don't blame him for not going even if he still has a grudge against his brother.?.
Your views make a lot of sense. The publicity is hurting the Monarchy. But what can be done to stem the tide? We know the Royals ( the real ones) do lots of work behind the scenes. We also "know" there isn't a lot going on charity or humanitarian wise behind, or indeed in front of, the scenes involving the Harkles. It seems Meghan's experience with "celebrities " and publicity is coming in handy....she knows how to play that game. That's never been what the Royals are about. Stripping the Harkles of all Royal titles now would seem like jealousy. What a conundrum.

I don't know for sure, but it's my understanding that everyone who works for the Warrior Games is a volunteer. They receive no compensation and pay their own travel expenses (unless a generous donor prove does free travel/lodging.)

The Duesseldorf games showed they “earned” about $8 million between appearance fees, travel expenses including private jets, a big personal entourage, and HER clothes!! The Canadians were told her “expectations” and knew the Whistler games would be in the red from the beginning and (allegedly) spoke to Trustees at IG. Harry insisted on their dismissal despite their multi-year involvement in winning the games.

I’m a disabled American veteran and I think Harry should step down.
1) the games have become about him and his wife rather than veterans.
2) Harry and Meghan like to stay close to the games because people globally care about wounded soldiers. But we aren’t props to be used to improve disgraced celebrities’ public image
3) A year ago when I started trying to share my views with Invictus, I would post on Invictus’ social media (they make mailing them a letter hard). The Sugars viciously attacked me on the Invictus thread. The organization never once reminded the posters that the expectation is respectful exchange or that Invictus won’t stand for abusing veterans on their page.
4) Invictus is largely run by civilians and they don’t understand the people they serve or the military culture which is why the permit Meghan to march a formation of vets (wearing shorts and sandals). They insult and disrespect vets themselves because the civilians are more impressed by celebs.
I do not support Invictus. I would never attend. I would never encourage my friends to participate.

What a shame that Invictus gives no regard to the feelings and opinions of the veterans who, I Gatter, are increasingly fed up with Harry and Meghan being front and centre and, if true, are getting their expenses refunded by Invictus whereas the veterans are expected to pay their own way. Personally, I find this despicable. After the IG in Duesseldorf, Germany, I sent a message to IG, expressing my displeasure of Meghans Maschine in front of the athletes. Not totally unexpected, there was no Response, no acknowledgement of my message. Reading that the sugars came after you, I guess I had a lucky escape as I didn't get harrassed nor harrangued. The veterans of Invictus are being ill served by their patron , all we have heard about is him, I don’t think I’ve seen or heard from any veterans this whole time. They aren’t even an afterthought, they are utterly forgotten, they deserve so much better, better from Harry, from the media, the services and the government. I have even had to read such rubbish as the King took Harry's title as head of his old regiment away from him and gave it to William. Not true. That position is always held by the Prince of Wales. It was never Harry's or meant to be Harry's. Also, the date of the investiture of this title was announced last year and NOT to coincide with Harry's visit

I have given up reading anything in the UK MSM because of their constant promotion of PH and MM, as well as the despicable way that they treated Catherine, not to mention the lies that they tell, and the way that they distort the truth. I have never been a particular fan of the RF, although I have a great deal of respect for HMTLQ, but ever since MM came on the scene, they have had my heartfelt sympathy. I rely on a few trustworthy sources on YT to find out what is actually going on.

I agree. I’ve never liked Diana since hearing stories about how she used William as her confidant and not protecting him when he was a young boy, her penchant for married men, and how she used to leave her boys to pootle off on holidays with various men, amongst other things. I think a lot more people have now come to realise that she wasn’t as perfect as perceived, and yes, largely due to Harry’s behaviour being compared to his mothers.
I was a big Diana fan but not necessarily because of Harry I’ve heard and read over the years of her behaviour but Harry has done nothing to improve but rather highlight his mothers worse nature. It’s a shame

When they broke away from the royal family, I’m fairly sure one of their demands was they had to have complete control of Invictus. Hence the royal family stepped away and now have absolutely nothing to do with the games.

The facts that TnT talked about on her channel came straight from a serving officer. He stated that Harry was not liked, failed the exams, failed his pilots licence, and didn't see real fighting. They put on some staged scene where the media filmed, which was just an excise. So NO Harry does not deserve to be head of the Invictus Games. It's just so sad that the media is so busy playing this game and not reporting on the actual truth.

I am absolutely with you there Shauna, Harry and Meghan should not be associated with the Invictus games any more because they simply are not being good patrons for it. The games are not growing or thriving and that pair have chosen to turn it in to the Harry and Meghan show with a bit of the Invictus games on the side.
I don’t think the Royal family should have anything at all to do with removing Harry as patron though , I think that should come from the games themselves. Something along the lines of “ we are grateful to Prince Harry for his work as patron but it is now time to have a patron who will devote more time to promoting the veterans themselves and free up more money to help more veterans attend.
Or even from a charity investigation where they announce that having looked at the running of this Charity and have found the balance of fundraising has not been used to its best use and so they are looking for a new patron who can help more veterans get involved in the games.
He needs to be removed , as for Meghans involvement that’s just shameful how she has turned it into her show , marching in front of the veterans in Düsseldorf in flip flops and shorts was just shameful and so time deaf it was unbelievable .
As Lady C reported , the games were given to Harry so that he could show he could make a success of his of his life outside of the immediate circle of the Royal Family. He hasn’t , he has simply sought to make them into a cash cow for himself which as I keep saying is so unnecessary. Prior to the 100 million Netflix deal the couple were already as wealthy as they needed to be , it’s just that they have chosen to live above their means with that foolishly big house , the massive security guard issues and spending such foolish amounts on designer clothes for Meghan that do not suit her and don’t make her look good.
Lots of Royals form else where in the world choose to live in America on quite moderate amounts of money , they didn’t need to live there at all , had the rest of the cheaper world to choose from and could easily have lived a life that did not need a huge security staff nor dresses worn once to non events. They could have retained power and prestige without all the stupidity of the Oprah interview, Netflix Drama and Spare. They made themselves unwelcome in celebrity circles . If they will tell such lies about their own family how ever could they be trusted not to tell lies about them.
Anyway to go back to the point, Harry needs to be removed as patron , but not by the Royal Family, they should step right back and let the charity or a charity commission remove him to let the charity grow by getting more veterans involved.

As for Harry walking up those stairs alone he was stupid enough to slip out the back door by himself so those stairs reek of manipulation and it simply takes to seconds to think, why didn’t he come down the stairs if that’s the only way into the cathedral. The British news media have noticed that and called out Harry for slipping out of the back door and immediately mingling in a crowd of his well wishers, no need for any security there Harry? It looked off and hypocritical and stage managed and is being called out by the British press , I hope it gets picked up world wide too.
Invictus don't actually need to remove H. They could, I think, simply appoint an additional Patron or Patrons - there is no rule that says charities can't have more than one, and many do, to represent different aspects of the charity. If Invictus appointed a female patron, for example, or one who represented the gay community among the veterans, or a (properly) black or other ethnic minority one - or, let's get wild - a differently-abled one, they would do a lot to reflect diversity in Invictus in a way that neither H nor M can do, and it would stop it from being the Harkle show.

I am german and searched for information about Invictus and the first result is always Invictus Germany. After the Games in Düsseldorf Germany has carved its own way. It is now called Invictus Germany and will hold Games EVERY year in Düsseldorf and will feature not only veterans but also " Blue Light Troops" which means police, fire fighters, and others. It comes after there was a big discussion in the german parliament over the 40 ! millions the ministry of defence fundet the games with are worth it.

Canadian taxpayers are contributing $30,000,000 towards next year’s Invictus Games. Where does it go? Don’t think anyone knows. Would like to believe it assists the athletes but after watching the Harkles parading around the Whistler venues (along with wardrobe changes and merching), I highly doubt it. I want transparency. The organization needs to produce an accounting of how the funds are allocated and offer it to the public. Our government should demand it!

I think the one overriding factor which makes H unsuitable to be the Patron of Invictus is that as such, he represents people who suffered life changing injuries because they swore allegiance to their monarch and their country, and were prepared to pay the ultimate price. H, by contrast, bailed out on his service to his monarch, who also happened to be his own grandmother, in order to promote his own personal commercial interests, and not content with that, has spent the time ever since in persistently discrediting, sniping, criticising and lying about the monarchy - again, for purely personal reasons, to satisfy his ego - and in so doing has brought the country that these brave veterans gave their everything to, into disrepute. Not only is he not helping, he is actively hindering everything they stood for, and believed in. This is why his military patronages had to be removed, because he couldn't represent people who were still actively serving their colonel in chief when he had chosen not to. The fact that he could not understand that and bitterly resented it shows how entirely unsuitable he is for this role, too. H brings media coverage because he also brings notoriety, but NOT all publicity is good publicity.

I truly believe the Royal Family is playing the long game. This is not the first time such things have happened. I can remember back in time when Elizabeth the Queen was seen as frumpy and boring and compared unfavourably with her fashionable exciting and "prettier" sister Margaret. Diana often overshadowed most of the Royal Family, she was the IT girl on every single cover. After her death, many petitioned for Diana to be made a saint. Unfortunately, Harry and Meghan's behaviour has made many revisit the actions of Diana, and her image and memory have been damaged. We look at her behaviour in a new light, as you say, her pictured alone (Taj Mahal) is compared with Harry alone (St Pauls/Corination) and finally we can see the manipulation at play. Why didn't his wife support him, why didn't Spencer aunties and Uncle Spencer Charles hold his hand? Pure Bullcrap.
Meghan is today's IT girl, disliked and notably infamous. In the end sister Margaret, who ended up scandalised for her romantic affairs, Diana's is affairs with married men now get mentioned. Wallace Simpson and Edward are mostly remembered for their German war friends. Harry and Meghan will eventually find that "this too will pass". The Royal Family has time to wait them out, and the passage of time will put them in the "villians" chapter in the bottom of British History. Most people can see through their games, (wrote a book, did a show and sold their families for gold) they are disliked, and the Royal Family actually profits from this in sympathy and increased jam sales.
I agree very much with all that you say, a very interesting comment - and much does pass, in time. My only caveat would be that the media scrutiny and in particular the online bullying/trolling aspect now is different, and makes the situation so much worse because it is inescapable. Not even the RF are immune, as the Catherine pile-on and the 'where's Kate' rubbish demonstrated, not to mention the Sussex Squad trolling their children in the most disgusting way. We've seen the physical effect this can have, in the health issues that both the King and Catherine are currently experiencing, which in my view are not coincidental. It is toxic to be subjected to this level of abuse and stress. So my concern is to what extent the RF will feel that the game is worth the candle, if this is how they now have to live, long term. If William and Catherine decided that they do not wish to continue, it would trigger a referendum on becoming a republic - not least because the government of the day will see that the obvious successors, H&M, are highly divisive and unsuitable. But that in itself is an almost unbearable pressure on William. He is literally having to choose between the health and welfare of his wife and children, or the future shape of the countries of which he would be monarch, and changing them for ever.

Shauna, somebody might be being creative with spectator numbers for Dusseldorf because at the time there was lots, really lots of photos showing completely empty banks of seats with people being moved to get them to sit together to make images from the playing courts look better. There have been a tsunami of puff pieces it feels like in the lead up to the Invictus service. During the night (I rarely sleep anymore these days, right now it's a little after 6am and I haven't been to sleep yet🙄) I watched a video by Stef the alter nerd where she reads an article hinting how upset Harry was (even mentioned tears I think) that King Charles had decided to award the rank of Colonel in Chief of the Army Air Corp to William.
The article hinted that this position had been taken from Harry, who had served in one of the Regiments in Afghanistan, only to give it to William. This is so irritating because not only was it NOT taken from Harry, but the position has been held by King Charles for the past 31 years (while he was Prince of Wales) and is now being awarded (on the 13th I think, so this week?) to William, the current Prince of Wales and our next King. This is only happening because our King has decided to step down (and no one could grudge him this, he's still battling illness and the position would be Williams some day anyway) but the article made it sound as if it was being done to slap Harry? As you said Shauna, there are too many stories, such as this one, being used to try to make everyone (just my opinion, nothing else) feel very sorry for H & M, just like that long, lonely walk up the stairs which all of the press are using of course. But I have the opinion of all Patrons or Staff of charities. Most charity staff (especially management) get paid vast salaries. I feel this is wrong.
