      Take it to your local Nissan Garage and have them look at it. but make sure you unplug anything in the UK and 12v port so they cant blame it on your dashcam/satnav

      Lemon-Tea Leaf You know I will give Nissan until Monday and then I will upload a Rant video on their EPIC sh*t customer service I owned many nissans three decades ago and their CS was brilliant back then as they was trying to make in roads into the European market. Fast forward and this isn't the first customer service issue I have had since owning the leaf on two different occasions requesting help nobody has gotten back to me! The fact that we are having to visit two times for repairs on EVERY fault is shockingly bad and I will send james on electric journeys a PM to translate to Japanese the shockingly bad CS we have in the UK and if the parent company can do something about it! Cheers

      It's not unusual that main dealers have to order original parts for warranty claims ... So can't finish in 1 day, un like other garages which can often use generic parts from 'same day' suppliers..

    • @FancyaBevMate
      @FancyaBevMate 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      this is not what I was referring to, its about the parent company not taking the dealers word for petty claims and then having to not only visit the dealership twice but then requesting video or photographic evidence which is utter stupidity. Kia might question a dealership for information but under no circumstances was I ever requested to provide video or photos. Cheers Ps I had many Nissans years ago and their customer services was of the highest order like kia is now but because they are an "established" manufacturer in the world they feel they don't have to be on top of their game. Pps I have had THREE issues so far that the parent company hasn't dealt with these problems so its not a case of just an isolated incident.

    Must be nice to have the power folding mirror options as its not offered to Leafs in North America. I immediately concluded a motor or mirror joint issue, which for mechanical parts on any car, new or old, can fail. Based on the comments below, seems to be the case. Not a big deal at all.

    • @LemonTeaLeaf
      @LemonTeaLeaf  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seems the only have the motor mirrors for Europe and japan as some of the tight parking sport needs it. Definitely a minor but annoying issue.

    My 30kwh Leaf does exactly the same, noise coming from first the offside mirror then the nearside one started. I thought that it might have been the hot weather of late, as when it’s cool it’s not so loud.
    Will speak to my Nissan dealer to see if it can be fixed, but I’d imagine it’s our of warranty now as it’s about 18 moths old ☹️
    EDIT: Just been to my local dealer, and they are going to replace both wing mirrors next week under the warranty 👍

    Just put my 2019 leaf into the local dealer for the exact same problem. They are replacing the whole mirror but just phoned me to say its a lot bigger job than they thought because the car has pro pilot which has to be recalibrated. Quote...they said " we have only done one of these before and it was a nightmare".... doesnt fill me with confidence!

    • @LemonTeaLeaf
      @LemonTeaLeaf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @colin1517 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LemonTeaLeaf Yes all done, They were given two and a half hours to do the job by nissan wheras an ordinary mirror is done in less than half hour. They had to clear an area around the leaf and place targets in various places for the pro pilot to recognise and calibrate itself. All this for a creaking mirror!, Now lovely and quiet...

    I have the same noise, also on the right side with my left hand drive Zero Edition 2018 Leaf. I think silicon spray will solve this squeek. I will try that first rather than the hassle of bringing it back to the dealer more than once for this issue... After only 2 months I already had a defective distance sensor and had that replaced/calibrated under warranty. That took 3 visits in total but I got a Nissan Quasqai loaner twice for that so I was able to go to work.

    • @LemonTeaLeaf
      @LemonTeaLeaf  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Let me know how the silicon worked for you as it would be better than visiting Nissan Garage.

    • @Erwinhooi
      @Erwinhooi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just applied some silicon spray and as expected the squeeky noise is gone. Most probably caused by washing the car too much at the first months😆😆😆 Time will tell how long that squeek will stay away but at least now I know how to fix it very fast and easy. I don't think they lubricated it at the factory so the left one will start having the same issue sooner or later...

    My Nissan dealer said they would have to order them from Japan 9 weeks, however it’s not the motor it’s the point were they twist I showed them photos of how to grease it which they did and they put on my documents if the grease didn’t work they would replace under warranty, however after 18 months no issues, my dealer now grease all mirrors that come in.

    @imho7250 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @0:40 the motor sounds fine, as can be heard at the start of the extension cycle, but the bushings that the mirror swings on seem like they need some grease. Do you hand wash your car or use a high pressure sprayer like at a car wash? It would be nice to see what was really going on inside, which might lead to how to prevent it or how to maintain it.

    • @LemonTeaLeaf
      @LemonTeaLeaf  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've got a pressure spray now but did take it to the car wash places before as I was living at a flat.

    • @jimgassor8473
      @jimgassor8473 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      James, were you folding the mirrors in when using the car wash (automated right, not a hand wash?) or leaving them in the normal extended position? As mentioned by other posters, the US edition does not come with the folding mirror option, even on the top of the line (SL) model. Nissan seems to have skimped out on several features in the US release, including the auto park feature and rear heated seats. Really annoying cut backs to make the car cheaper.

    • @LemonTeaLeaf
      @LemonTeaLeaf  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jim Gassor It was in the extended position as I had the car on so i could get it in N mode as it goes pulled through the car wash. I didn't realise that you guys in N.american didn't get the extras we do in Europe. What we are missing in Europe is the Japanese rear mirror camera which looks cool.

    • @jimgassor8473
      @jimgassor8473 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lemon-Tea Leaf Going into N mode makes total sense James, I didnt think about that. That Japanese rear mirror camera does sound like a great feature. I am sure some of these features are either budget cutbacks or dropped for regulatory reasons within each Country. Thanks for the feedback :)

  • @Rhaman68
    @Rhaman68 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Of course it’s a warranty item. There is a motor, hinge, etc. fault. The camera electronics excuse is a rather lame one. Glad it was repaired. As to the folding mirror feature, aside from being one more item to fail, what is the purpose? My 2001 AUDI TT has manually operated folding mirrors taut I have no ever had the need to use them.

    • @LemonTeaLeaf
      @LemonTeaLeaf  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      In Europe we have a lot of offset parking on tight roads and it fold them back to stop them being knocked off by passing cars with their wingmirrors. But in japan they have very limited space and parking cost more for wider cars so folder the mirrors compacts them so they can park at a cheaper rate.

      Nissan won't fix in current model, will have battery cooling in the 60kWh version of the 2019 LEAF. Best battery temperature strategy for a long trip seems to be (1) don't run below 40% and then recharge to about 90% and (2) don't drive faster than 60mph. In distances that translates to 90Miles first leg, 70miles per leg for rest of journey. And thanks to James for doing the research :-)

    • @LemonTeaLeaf
      @LemonTeaLeaf  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nissan said its "working as intended" so dont think they'll be doing anything with that. I wish they marketed the car properly and told buyer about this. good thing the ASA in the UK has made them pull their ad for charging to 80 in 60 mins as they said it was misinformation.

  • @IanRawlings
    @IanRawlings 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    On my car, the mirrors would fold in but when I started the car again they wouldn't fold out. After taking it in to my local Nissan dealer for a warranty repair they spent almost two weeks pulling it apart then phoned me today to tell me that it doesn't have a problem if I unplug my phone charger from the 12v DC port -- and as a result of this they won't honour it as a warranty claim and want me to pay at least for the labour charges.. Not impressed. I've pushed back on this and they're going to do some more investigation and contact Nissan. It seems the wing mirrors are a bit of an issue.

    • @williamlorimer8380
      @williamlorimer8380 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Can’t believe you didn’t know the 12v DC power point is not for charging phones or powering anything its just for show next Nissan will be saying if you use the car the tyres won’t last Ba!?

    • @LemonTeaLeaf
      @LemonTeaLeaf  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They tried to blame it on my dash cam they just need to replace it. Dealers are shocking sometimes them with Nissan it's like the left hand doesn't know where the right is with them. From what they said it's a design flaw... We shall name this #wingmirrorgate !

    • @jimgassor8473
      @jimgassor8473 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That definitely sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen to me Ian. Its a design flaw if you cannot operate your mirrors when a customer accessory is plugged in to the 12v socket, and in this instance just a phone charger drawing a few amps. You may have to pay that invoice in order to get your Leaf back but then consider legal action.

    • @IanRawlings
      @IanRawlings 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They tried the adaptor in another Leaf and it didn't cause any problems. Well that's that over and done with I thought. But no, apparently it's still the adaptor and just because it doesn't break another identical car doesn't mean that it won't if it's driven for a hundred miles or so.. They also said it's probably not CE marked, and if it is then it must be a fake CE mark. So basically any evidence that they're wrong is waved away. Pretty poor.
