You are 100% correct. Because of the inappropriate and harmful actions of this particular group of people from a specific part of India, genuine and hardworking individuals from India are suffering. Unfortunately, current Canadian government blindly supports this group because of they are a vote bank. Stay away from this particular group and don’t engage with them.
A malayalee man we have known for 20 years now makes somewhere between 200k and 300k per year in US. But every now and than he started borrowing small amounts like $1000 to $3000 from several of his colleagues at work and he would come up with the excuse that he was buying a property in India and he is little short so he just needed the money until his next paycheck. He gave the same excuses to all his colleagues and the same promise to return. But he would never bring up the topic for months and his colleagues felt hesitant to ask. When he asked he would pay but this would take almost a year. Later found out that he was investing into Malayalam movies and these movies flopped. The colleagues got fed up and some of them started talking amongst themselves and now no one lends him money and believes any of his excuses. He had no reason to do this, he wanted to earn more but at the cost of others hard earned money. People like him don’t end up in jail but they have criminal intentions too, just evil to core.

In our 20 years of marriage and family life, we have only had problem from people from Kerala who borrow and act like we owe them. We have lent money to people from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad and each of them would pay us back right on time and even earlier. But every time we try to help a Malayalee be it a friend or a relative we have regretted it. So now we only help we don’t lend, we give without expecting it back and only give in small sums. That said me and my husband are Malayalees we would never do that to anyone and I am sure there are many like us who care for a good, peaceful sleep at the end of our days 😊
