No man, it’s tough enough dealing with people who don’t really want to be there. It would be terrible if we were surrounded by people who don’t want to be in the military. No way.
This is crazy from so many angles, starting with the financial and logistical angles. This generation is nothing like the generations that got drafted decades ago.
Not to fight wars for other countries.
Iraq and Afghanistan combat vet here: please don’t bring back the draft.
I don't think this crowd could fight there way out of a wet paper bag.
@@outdoorlife5396More to the point, what does that say about US Military leadership that can’t get a bunch of people who can’t fight their way out of a wet paper bag to fight for their military?
It says they’re greedy beyond words can describe.
The video’s title might as well be “Bloodthirsty maniacs want you to fight for their yacht money”. Even if we don’t have the core developmental skills to learn what taxes are because we’ve been taught how to do the Pythagorean Theorem instead of any basic life skills. We got our own issues to deal with.
Are we unprepared as a generation? Yes.
Is the US Military unprepared and unwilling to house and compensate us as soldiers? Yes.
Is it realistic to expect our service? Absolutely not.
The government in D.C. has gone so far into wokism that re-starting the draft is a legal impossibility.
Eh… I don’t see that as a bad thing. You know what I see as a bad thing? Knowing the soldiers who are fighting for your freedoms know in their hearts that the only reason that they’re there on that battlefield is because they’ve been forced to be there and when they get home they’ll be forgotten and left to deal with PTSD, alone and cold.
It sounds like they’d be dealing with mutinies instead of global conflicts. Or the prisons would be so full of inmates that anyone who was arrested on the condition of “draft dodging” would be let go with light fines and community service. Also, companies would probably take financial hits so they’d probably start ignoring peoples’ criminal backgrounds on grounds of draft dodging, too.
It’s just a bad idea all around.
Perhaps we needed a “woke” military to show us where our priorities are at right now so we can learn to rectify it, like growing pains.
They're going to have to since few people want to fight in yet another war started on a false premise and that's saying a lot for me since in case you can't tell I'm patriotic
I think a great alternative to the draft (although its not something where youd see immediate improvements to the recruiting figures) would be to have different levels of rotc as mandatory curriculum nationwide throughout each grade level. itd potentially be a huge boost in employment opportunities for veterans as well for veterans and active duty service members alike to be able to be more involved in their local communities.
I did rotc through high school and although i didn’t go on to join the military, it instilled things into me that i did not receive at home. Discipline, camaraderie, sense of duty and patriotism etc etc . Which are all things that i think have otherwise been lost today but are absolutely vital in securing the future of tomorrow..
Mandatory draft for two years from 18 to 20! Young people would be healthier, mentally and physically, if this were the case!
Now if you were actually 18-20 years old, you’d see the problem with that. Here’s a better argument: Mandatory service for anyone above 18 years old. 18-end of a person’s life.
Old and frail? You can spend your golden years trying to raise money for recruitment or spend your time helping the MP or Coast Guard or whatever.
You see something wrong with that? It’s easy to say that a certain age group should deal with everyone’s problems when you won’t be dealing with them yourself. But when you remove that factor, you start thinking of how little you owe anyone.
The same applies to us. We’re not entitled to safety, high-paying jobs or empathy in this country. Why should we be forced to serve it if we don’t feel any duty towards it? Because a bunch of old people want to enjoy their yachts and martinis? We’re too busy trying to be able to afford kids. We can’t afford to eat most months.
Why should we owe America servitude if America won’t owe us anything?
I'm guessing this wouldn't affect you, right? Doubt you'd be singing the same tune if it did
Full disclosure here... i am prior service.. I don't think it's too much to ask of a high school graduate to give the country 3 or 4 months of their time and then be on an inactive reserve list of some sort. I think it's a great idea.. This way, in case we ever had to really go to war. It would save the country a lot of time. We'd be already ramped up and a lot of these young people may and choose the military as a career after they get out of basic and m o s school
I personally did this in high school - joined the Arizona National Guard in 1965 when I knew I needed boundaries and initiative. Worked. In college my old friends were still partying, drinking acting stupid. 18+ months civic or military duty best grow up medicine. I've met young Israeli sabras. They were far ahead of their American counter parts; force these eternally whining adult children to put on their Big Boy or Big Girl pants and contribute. I personally don't want more American military youth in international conflicts unless our allies also commit their young adults to the same commitment and risks. We cannot sustain sole combatant obligation.
It’s easy to say that when you’d be free to walk this world instead of being forced to give up 3-4 months of your life and then be on military reserve.
Let’s edit this; Everyone should be forced to serve 18 and older, no exceptions. You’d be forced to do 3-4 months of active service and if you’re disabled there’s jobs you could do to serve the country while it’s at war.
When you put everyone on the line instead of just a select group of people, you start to realize how little anyone owes America. Maybe a cup of peace is in order?
@@HoopsMacabre It's difficult to express how morally, ethically, intellectually bankrupt and delusional those sentiments are in an American citizen. You need to be in the front rank.
Completely disagree, we have one life and nobody has the right to tell you how to use it. If you can't find enough volunteers then perhaps the organization itself is the problem.
I agree, graduate high school and go to basic training for 3 months to teach them real life, not the crap from high school. Maybe they would learn something useful which is not what they are getting in school.
Not to deploy for the military industrial complex. Only to defend the nation of foreign invasion, like what is happening in the southern border. This guy is speaking for war machine interests.
