It’s funny how you called Carnivine the seviper of Sinnoh since in the anime Jessie had a seviper and James had a Carnivine (which is where I always remember Carnivine from)
@@matteogabusi8950 Yeah I read that after the comment But they’re only minor appearances in the latest series, so still for the vast majority of the anime we haven’t seen any others
I'd personally give Kricketune a lean towards SpAtk and more sound based moves, and give it a unique ability called "Conductor", which gives it an immunity to sound moves like soundproof, but it also strengthens itself's and an ally's sound moves in Doubles. The sound immunity would let it pull some nasty shenanigans like immunity to perish song or buffing an ally's Boomburst while remaining unharmed by it. Give it helping hand too for even more damage boosting!
We could also just make a more generic version of punk rock, and give it a bit wider distribution. Give it to pokemon like Exploud. That would be a way to fix a number of meh sound based pokemon, and give them interesting interactions with each other.
With Carnivine, I remember that several people thought that it would get access to Snap Trap the next time it made an appearance because the move would fit Carnivine better than G.Stunfisk, who only gets STAB when Grassy Terrain is in effect.
Galarian Stunfisk in general is just such a mess. Its impressive that you can improve the typing, yet add a gimmick that they didn't even feel like supporting outside of a single move
Two notes on luxray: first, no guard is more of a detriment than a buff. Sure, the elemental fangs are 95% accurate, but that pales in comparison to the focus blasts, blizzards, fire blasts, and hypnoses that you’re giving free rein to destroy your beloved feline. Second, I really do feel like a phenomenal moveset addition for luxray would be flame charge. Luxray isn’t slow persay, but it’s slow for an electric type and the fire coverage could be useful for the wormadams and steel types of sinnoh
@@PokemonWoop bro luxray has simple eyes how does Compound Eyes make sense design wise. I get the "Seeing through walls" thing could justify but he just doesnt have compound eyes like insects do
@@smargiohopefully not just a mere reskin. Boosting accuracy and also ignoring evasiveness would be nice. Heck maybe ignore barriers as well when using Electric attacks.
That 95 special attack ain't bad at all. But I actually don't like no guard as an ability becasue it's moves are generally accurate. It would only really boost the accuracy of Thunder. Which is good. But unnecessary
Custom ability for Luxray: X-Ray Vision Boosts accuracy and ignores opponent's evasion stat. Ignores screens and protection when using Electric attacks.
Perhaps it’s a bit strong. A good drawback would be that Luxray ALSO can’t use or have any evasion moves on itself or use any accuracy-lowering moves on another Pokémon.
I feel like its not that crazy. Its not like it boost power of electric moves. Its just a counter to screens which is really fun. As there arent a ton of those.@@thelanktheist2626
I've also always really liked Lumineon since it was introduced, but it's *LONG* overdue for some serious buffs. I've thought about it gaining Fairy as well, and have always imagined it as geting a serious Sp. Attack buff (I'd personally make it 96) to sort of make it a faster, (when under Swift Swim) Special-oriented counterpart to Azumarill.
I was once part of a small Pokémon group on a chat app. The bubble effect was SO real. Everyone there ran Luxray and assumed it was good. Winning battles in that group was easy and boring since they all ran identical crap…
@@Ycha_alphaWell, at leassst the generic sssinnoh team isss probably better than my team for Sssinnoh. Napoleon the male Empoleon, Crimssson the female Rossserade, Gayle the female Drifblim, Ssskippy the female Lopunny, Cccynthia the female Garchomp, and Anubisss the male Lucario.

I think carnivine should get an signature ability called "swapped roles" in which instead of being resisted and taking supereffective damage by bugs and flying it resists and does supereffective damage against bugs and flying types, it just makes sense to a plant that preys upon bugs (and even rats on some ocassions) to swap roles with them, also i think that carnivine being this big could easly prey upon smaller birds and bats
For Carnivine: Instead of Arena Trap, it should have a unique ability... Bug Trap! Basically like Magnet Pull, but for Bug types. Preventing them from switching out, INCLUDING with U-turn!
What if Bug Trap turned its Bug Weakness into a Bug Immunity? The only Pokémon Immune to U-Turn would be quite the Niche especially with all the Non Bug Type U-Turners on there
Even with buffs Lumineon is always gonna face stiff competition for a team slot with all the other excellent water types in Sinnoh. It's not available til you get the Good Rod so there's gonna be competition with all the early mons. Assuming you didn't pick Piplup as a starter there's other Sinnoh waters Floatzel and Gastrodon which are available much earlier and then there's the amazing Gyarados which only requires the Old Rod and got buffed in Gen 4. BDSP makes it much worse with early access to other water types in the underground and Platinum lets you potentially get a Vaporeon right before the Good Rod.
Good improvements For Lumineon line it's pre evo is called Beutifly of the sea moves like Silver Wind and Moon Light would really suit it (Moon Light over Morning Sun because it's dex entry always refer to night and stars)
Hippowdon is only one available during the story in Diamond and Pearl who can pass them over. Cyrus has a Honchkrow with Drill Peck but nobody in the Sinnoh Dex gets it
@@tabbender1232 Isn't this supposed tio be a kids game for everyone? Why NOT make it easier? That's the usual defense for alot of Pokemon's bad game design compared to better monster collectors where AI is monumentally smarter and skillset customizing is monumentally better like Dragon Quest Monsters among other games.
A Gen 4 pokemon that needs to be “fixed” is purugly. It is SOOOOOO fast and yet it can’t do anything at all with its speed. I would ATLEAST increase its physical attack so make it a fast glass cannon. Since its defences and hp is pretty low!! If not I would MINIMUM buff its HP to make it a fast pokemon that can survive for many rounds due to its big health. However, I think the fast glass cannon concept works better to fix it
I hope this reaches you, but your sound design is absolutely amazing! The ambient music and your low pitch voice combine to create a mysterious ambience that matches that of lost media and horror videos. Thank you for your content! It's super entertaining :)
I've seen someone suggest this buff on r/Stunfisk, but seeing how Carnivine is based on a plant whose defining characteristic is eating bugs, it should really have an ability that heals it when its hit by a Bug-type move. Basically the same idea as Water Absorb. It just makes so much sense, and it gets rid of one of the Grass-type's weaknesses, as opposed to Levitate which as you said, feels a little pointless since Grass already resists Ground.
I'd prefer it boost ATK like Sap Sipper. IRL Venus flytraps tighten harder the more the caught insect struggle and hit the trigger hairs inside. Maybe it can have a partner Skill Link/Loaded Dice Pin Missile on it.
@@justspheal489 r/Stunfisk is the competitive Pokemon subreddit. Stunfisk was chosen as the mascot just as a silly little counterpart to Smogon, and their use of Koffing. Every Thursday they have an event where people can suggest new pokemon, abilities, moves, items, and other things that would be cool to have in the game, and the post I referred to in my original comment was that buff for Carnivine. I think they also made it a Grass/Dark type lol
I really pick bad pokemon to have as favorites, I think in every video you did in this series you had some of my favorite pokemon. This time around its Lumineon, I don't know why. I just like that fish for no reason
I remember during my Platinum playthrough all those years ago, I reached the Elite 4 without a Water type Pokémon. Bertha gave me hell, so I just went searching for a fish. Finneon came my way, and eventually carried that godforsaken battle. Though a random Dusclops is what got me through Cynthia hahah
Lumineon straight up needs an evolution, I did actually make one and had some similar ideas to you like the 101 speed Lumiluneon Type: Water / Fairy Abilities: Storm Drain / Swift Swim / Dazzling (Hidden) Stats: HP: 89 Atk: 49 Def: 86 SpA: 99 SpD: 116 Spe: 101 BST: 540 New Moves: Starry Sea, Moonblast, Flash Cannon, Hurricane, Moonlight, Quiver Dance, Hypnosis, Reflect, Light Screen Notable Lumineon Moves: Dazzling Gleam, Tailwind Starry Sea: Water Special (Spread, Pulse Move) 90BP 100 Acc The users body glimmers like stars in the darkness and releases shimmering mystic water that hits opposing Pokémon. This may also confuse the target (10%) Pokédex Scarlet: It floats deep in the sea, appearing as though a galaxy floating in the dark depths. Many Pokémon are led astray by its alluring light as if they’ve fallen under a spell. Violet : Having mastered control of its own starry light, it has learned to imitate the power of the moon itself. It uses this to lure prey, and to fight for territory and food with other Pokémon. Evolves by levelling up while learning moonlight (which Lumineon will get as level up in this hypothetical gen)
Idk it's bulky, outspeeds a fair amount of pokemon the typing looks good, I'm not a competitive player but a pokemon with 540 stat total in NU sounds crazy lol

This has been brought up before in other instances of someone saying Luxray should be Dark-type: Luxray has more to do with light than darkness, it was never depicted as malicious or underhanded, being black does not warrant getting Dark, and its only Dark-type moves in its level-up moveset are Bite and Crunch, which are just bites.
Dark types aren’t inherently evil though, for instance Absol warns of potential disasters, Umbreon is chill. Mewoscarada is essentially just a performer. Also the light associations already fit with the electric typing, I really don’t think adding dark is that crazy.
9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3
@@thisnameseemslegit the light connections contradict would-be associations with darkness. Absol was mistaken for a doom bringer, Umbreon has more to do with literal darkness and the night.

Personally, I never understood why Carnivine had such a high SpAtk and Luxray was so slow… it never made any sense to me. Carnivine would benefit simply from redistributing its SpAtk to every other stat. Drop it by 70 to 20 and add 20 to HP, 15 Defense and SpDf and 20 to Atk and it’ll be a lot better. As for Luxray, just buff its speed, even just by 15-20 and No Guard is a great ability for it to have. I’d also recommend Compound Eyes, Reckless or Guts as well.
@ I don’t think so. I do love that’s it’s basically a signature bug ability but I feel it’d work for Luxray well, especially since I love running Ice Fang and Snarl on mine’s lol
Notification gang!!! Never thought of No Guard on Luxray... I would've gone with Compound Eyes so the accuracy only works one way. Also a revenge killer Choice Scarf Arena Trap Carnivine would be so redeeming for the poor guy!
I think the only reason lumineon isn't a fairy type is because they literally forgot it existed It literally has fairy wings. And if a stupid beachball can be a fairy. A beautiful glowing butterflyfish can too
Something I recently discovered about Wormadam Sand Cloak. It can learn both Skill Swap, and Fissure It's niche, but pair that in a double with an Ally with No Guard, and if you can stay alive, you've got a sweep machine...
Carnivine has a special place in my heart since I had a carnivine figurine as a kid so it featured heavily in a lot of my make believe stories even though I was never able to catch it in the great marsh.
Kricketune will always have a special place in my heart. First shiny I ever found on my first play through of Pearl when I was a kid. I didn’t even know what a shiny was before then.
Don't know if you'll ever see this, but I just started watching these videos and they've given me quite a bit of inspiration for my work on Gen 10 rebalancing! In particular, this actually helped me pull together some missing pieces for Lumineon and the 3 Wormadam forms in particular, so if you ever see this, thanks for that! Your gen 3 video was also a help in reminding me that I completely neglected poor Masquerain and Surskit, and that I'd forgotten movepool updates for Tropius, so thanks for those too! And here I thought I'd be bored tonight. :)
As a wormadam enjoyer I agree they just need a base stat boost. Depending on the gen they can be taught signal beam/quiver dance, but even with that, and max ivs and ev training barely helps with such low stats overall :(
@@PokemonWoop sadly that's true, hopefully they can get some buffs in the future. But as someone who's favorite Pokemon isn't too mainstream, I understand lol
You are right, i always forgot Lumineon exists. It doesn't help it's a pokèmon that you find near the end of the game and it has a bland design, bland typing and horrible stats. Why does it exist?
@@mrttam Yeah Finneon is the pre-evo of Lumineon if i remember correctly but it's a waste of exp to evolve it because even after you evolve it it's still pathetically weak. Speaking of Alomomola, i'm still disappointed that GameFreak did not retcon it into being Luvdisc's evolution. So stupid.
I used Lumineon and Mothim on a team solely because of how forgotten they are. My cousin used a Carnivine too. I think it’s fun using obscure Pokémon even though they aren’t the best in battle.
Lumineon is one of my top 3 favorite Pokémon so it always makes me sad hearing people talk down on it all the time, love your ideas for (much needed) buffs for it!
I’d give Kricketune, Lumineon, Carnivine, Wormadam, and Mothim evolutions. As for Luxray, I’m thinking I’d sacrifice some bulk and a lot of Sp. Atk for Attack and Speed, expand its movepool, and give it Frisk as an ability (which kinda makes sense).
Just a thought I had when you mentioned that Swarm is a generic ability they give to bugs when they don't know what else to give them: Swarm itself should be reworked to function like Plus/Minus, so each pokemon on the field with Swarm buffs each other pokemon with Swarm. Mono-Bug doubles!
In Pokémon Rejuvenation theres a shadow finneon that learns quiver dance which was a HUGE buff to the pokemon. I'd also potentially give it either the Flying or Fairy secondary type and Moon Blast for extra coverage. It also used to get Tail Glow in earlier versions but either way it was super helpful!
@@yurei4414 You sure? Primarina and Incineroar are perfectly fine. Only issue is Decidueye, who despite being supposidly the "fast" starter out of the three only has 10 more base speed, which puts him at a pathedic 70, with mediocre offenses and defenses and for some reason they made him mixed...
Honestly Luxray's coverage is good for an electic, ice fang allows it to deal with grounds which is very rare for pure electrics. If anything the lack of a good physical electric stab is a bigger issue
Even though a large part of me wants to see Lumineon wreck shop with a special attack buff and Tail Glow, I think it'd work better to make it a support mon. It already has some good support moves in u-turn, encore, icy wind, and tailwind; Just give it +20 to HP and +10 Special Defense, as well as access to Wish, Light Screen, and Reflect. I can imagine getting a decent amount of mileage using that version of Lumineon.
Maybe Lumineon could get an ability that makes "light/ ray" moves priority? I know it's not a thing, but i think it would be a cool addition to it and make it unique.
Hey so I'm just here to bring up a cool and neat point about Luxray. Maybe haveing a bad move pool was the way it was balanced so you would have a reason to use the more underwhelming patchirisu for its weird amount of coverage and support moves with the tms it learns. Or, Pikachu + Light orb because Its broken af but you get it a little later then the other two.
I'm just sick and tired of pokemon not having these kinds of balancing thoughts and instead just throwing 60 pokemon in the wild area it's getting really annoying.
I watch a lot of poketube, but something about your videos in particular always makes me want to boot up the games within moments of starting them! I really appreciate it!
I'm surprised to hear luxray is in this video. The shinx line is downright OP in pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of sky, which came out just a year after platinum.
I’m glad that you adjusted these Pokémon like you did based on law and not just based on oh this would make them broken competitively. Luxury is a shiny example of making logical decisions that can actually flush the Pokémon out.
For some Pokemon I just feel like Gamefreak hates them. Like Luxray, Kricketune, Lumineon etc. I love Kricketune. It would be so cool to use it in Gen 9 with Technician Pin Missle with the Loaded Dice. But it doesn't even get Pin Missile. Like wth man.
Edit3: STOP THE LUMINEON HATE. MY LUMINEON PLUSH IS LISTENING WITH ME. As goes for any Pokémon, Lumineon thrives on a team built for it. And Lumineon is not a singles mon. I’ve got a competitive Gen6 doubles team featuring StormDrain Lumineon. The team revolves around shutting down enemy water types and enforcing the Water/Fire/Grass type triangle and playing strongly through it. Maintaining a strong focus on enemy steel/fighting types. Even modest Lumineon outspeeds most and is an amazing setter. If my Lumineon “Kite” can catch a storm drain increase, coverage icebeam/psybeam starts hitting like a truck. You would be smart to keep the opponent from getting a clean hit in on Lumineon, but you will be surprised the hits it tanks. My Lumineon holds a brightpowder>.< and my instaswitches are Sceptile and most fast electric types. Lumineon does not thrive in 4v4 doubles, but manages much better in the ‘switchier’ 6v6 doubles meta. Thank you for coming to my TEDtalk Edit2: paste from my shinyhunting notes: Finneon:✨🔵 (alpha sapphire) •30 eggs until 5iv modest dive ball female with modest nature •+30 +28 •shiny dive ball finneon with swift swim (ability capsuled to storm drain) at /88 eggs/
Up until a few years ago, I thought that Luxray was an electric/dark type. I was honestly shocked it was a pure electric type when I played gen 4 for the first time.
Luxray's issue is it didn't get a good reprint in later gens. It's postgame locked in G5 and G6 (though would have been good to see alongside Pyroar in XY, probably was gonna be in Z), island scan in G7 and DLC in SS
Regarding some of the mons mentioned, I got some buff ideas for them Luxray doesn't need a type or ability change but rather wild charge needs to be 120 Base Power just like Double Edge and Luxray's Special Attack Stat (95) should be swapped with its Speed Stat (70) and now it's a fast Guts pokemon Lumineon, maybe swap its stats around, HP (69) with Defense(76)?, Special Attack (69) with Special Defense (86) and buff its Special Attack again by 10 (96). Give it Quiver Dance because butterfly/moth-like Pokemon all learn Quiver Dance and Lumineon a literal BUTTERFLY Wormadam, agreed with the stat buffs, give them some abilities too, Wormadam Grass= Grassy Terrain?, Wormadam Sand= Sand Stream, Wormadam Trash gets idk Iron Barbs? Wormadam Sand should also get Spikes and Shore Up, makes sense for Sandy Cloak specifically, and give all Wormadam forms U-Turn. Mothim Atk (94) and Spe (66) swap and we add 20 to the Spe and SpA (both 94->114) Carnivine is perfect, I'd let it learn Toxic tho and maybe make it have a signature ability where it's immune to bug moves and resists Poison (not sure if venus flytraps can handle types of poison/acid but since it uses acid as mentioned I think this decision makes sense) I like the Kricketune buffs the ideas are solid but I got a makeover of my own Stats: HP 77->57, Atk: 85->75, Def and SpD (i forgot but it's gonna be kept the same), SpA: 55->95, Spe: 65->95, Base Stat Total: 384->424, I'd make it Bug/Normal as well, unused type combo along with it fitting as a musician. I'd give it a signature ability where it's immune to Sound-Based Moves and when it uses Sound-Based Moves, it gets boosted in power by 50%, I'd slap Boomburst on it, Bug Buzz is sound based and give it U-Turn to pivot
it give kriketune a unique ability, i was thinking on diferent concepts like "Melomaniac" Sound based moves by this pokemon have 100% accuracy "Duet" In double battles, if a pokemon uses a sound base move, pokemon with ability Duet uses it as well (like oricorio) "Grand Entrace" The first sound based move when this pokemon enters the battle, has +1 priority
IDK why you would ignore kricketune's intended design like that. It's a musician. In the anime, a rather powerful one too. I think any good revamped Kricketune would make it bug/normal & lean into the sound aesthetic with moves like hyper voice, bug buzz, etc. My revamped Kricketune has a spread like this: HP73, ATK75, DEF61, SPA88, SPD61, SPE75, is bug/normal to get stab from most sound moves which are normal type and a new/old ability called cacophony. It's been coded since gen 3, but never used, likely intended for loudred & exploud. All sound moves get an extra 30% chance to confuse the target. Not too busted, but works with the idea of an orchestra where you lose the individual sense of each sound as it combines together. It fits with the line's design too. I do think your fixes are otherwise pretty good, but my boy kricketune needs some love.
In Gen IV, Luxray can very easily get the fangs by breeding, specifically from Hippowdon. Luxray is my go to, all purpose, type coverage Pokemon in Sinnoh playthroughs.
I was wondering what you were going to cover with Luxray at first, but changing it to an Electric/Dark type or changing its moveset would honestly perfect a fairly solid Pokemon.
giving dark to luxray is the most overused trope, it would be more interesting to give it a psychic type since it haves fire and dark coverage to deal with bug and ghost types and stab zen headbutt is quite nice
i would personally give lumineon a secondary electric type, it's a more unique combination having just lanturn and rotom wash with the same type and would match the neon theme of the mon + swift swim 100%accurate stab thunders or hurricanes in rain would be a nice way to use it
Keep Luxray pure Electric-type. Instead lean into its name and theming; give it tail glow, access to more coverage with moves like signal beam, dazzling gleam and ice beam. Swapping out Rivalry for Infiltrator (you can't hide). And finally redistribute its stats, lower its health and attack, and put those points into speed, swapping out Guts for Quick Feet in the process. Intimidate doesn't need any attention as it's already phenomenal.
I actually did use carnivine on my first diamond playthrough when I was a kid! I distinctly remember that I had no good counter against Crasher Wake as I had gone for piplup as my starter, and had neglected shinx since I had a habit of skipping early game pokemon in favour of trying to raise ones for the mid game. It got me through Pastoria's gym but I ended up dropping it some time before the league, ironically not because it was bad, but because I loved evolving pokemon and pokemon that didn't evolve were always kinda boring to me.
The thing that sucks about carnivine is that a Venus flytrap Pokémon could look really cool but instead they went for a really goofy design. I would’ve used one on my team if it didn’t have those weird cartoony eyes stuck weirdly on the top of its head. I hope they go back and use a flytrap as a design inspiration again and carnivine isn’t all we ever get from that
I love your videos, but I never watch them late at night. If I do, I'm afraid I'll be... *checks notes* ... forever forgotten as a failure, deep in the bottom ocean of a distant planet, surrounded by the sheer emptiness of my non-existent life achievements.
Give mothim +54 in speed +10 sp. Atk and atk give mothim tailwind icy wind swords dance feather dance dragon dance water pulse and infestation instead of bug bite Also give it wind rider
I would give Lumineon another evolution. Make it water/fire or water/fairy and make it really use it's luminescence/light with offensive attacks, maybe even its own attack.
If you gave Carnivine Regenerator, it would be a very decent Mon! Uts move-pool lends itself well to being part of a Fire/Water/Grass defensive core with Leech Seed, Stockpile, Sleep Powder, Toxic, Synthesis, Knock Off, Gastro Acid, and Protect
I felt bad 4 kricketune for being useless so i used it in my pokemon diamond playthrough (the new one) and i made it champion, dunno why i did this to my self lol
Thank you for the lumineon mention. I've always loved this fish! It was the very first sitting cuties plush I ever bought! It reminds me of some beta fish I used to own. Its poor stats and coverage break my beart so much
I have an idea for a new ability of Kricketune that fits its definition a little better. Kricketune can compose melodies ad lib. To reflect this ability, I bestow Kricketune with the ability Spontaneous Melody. This ability gives Kricketune's sound based moves priority. This will allow Kricketune the chance to use Sing and Perish Song. Alternatively, it could be used to revenge kill with Bug Buzz.
I wiuld love if - in addition to the level up elemental bites - Luxray could get strong jaw as an ability as well. Stab strong jaw crunch and thunder fang could make it more useful
I like a lot of what you said. Below will be some of my thoughts. To help with Luxray, I would offer up these changes in addition to what you said: -Rivalry should be replaced with either Strong Jaw, Tough Claws, or Compound Eyes. I agree with fellow user @TaLeng2023 with X-Ray Vision as a signature ability in place of Compound Eyes. -I would've given it access to Flame Charge, but then Gen 9 introduced Trailblaze. I agree with making Lumineon a Water/Fairy type. Finneon and Lumineon are among a list of Pokémon that I wish gained the Fairy typing in Gen 6. When it comes to Wormadam, please review sites like Serebii and Bulbapedia when making these kinds of videos, as each form already has access to Giga Drain and Sucker Punch. Sandy Cloak Wormadam already had access to Earthquake, Sandstorm, and Stealth Rock. Trash Cloak Wormadam already had access to Metal Burst and Gyro Ball. The other moves you listed for Wormadam are not moves that they have been able to learn yet. I do agree with updating them with those moves. Strangely, each form share the move Quiver Dance. I also like the idea of Mothim learning Sleep Powder and replacing Swarm with Compound Eyes. Giving Wormadam the abilities Thick Fat or Magic Guard would be very interesting. It may or may not help in the lower tiers of competitive battling. I can honestly say that I've used a Carnivine on an in-game team for either Diamond or Pearl. I forget which. I believe I was playing them before Sword & Shield came out. Here's what I'd do to help Carnivine out: -I'd either give it the Strong Jaw ability or give it a unique ability that it would share with Bellsprout, Weepinbell, and especially Victreebel. Its name would be called Insectivore. This ability allows the user to inflict super-effective damage to Bug-type Pokemon when using biting/fang moves, Leech Life, Bug Bite, as well as Poison-type attacks. -I would also give it access to Jaw Lock, Grassy Glide, Trailblaze, Psychic Fangs, Super Fang, Sucker Punch, Gyro Ball, Foul Play, Leaf Storm, Sludge Wave, Clear Smog, Belch, Venoshock, Terrain Pulse, Tera Blast, Grassy Terrain, Strength Sap, and Curse. -I'm not sure if I'd give it Fire Fang Thunder Fang, given that it's a Grass type. However, Arena Trap as an ability would be pretty neat. I agree with fellow user @shiny9690 in increasing the Special Attack stat of Kricketune as well as gifting it more sound-based moves and the Conductor ability that they designed. It would give players a reason to either run a Modest or Timid set or a mixed-attacking set, and it would work fairly well as a support-based team member.
I love these videos and honestly it just makes me love Legends Arceus even more--what other game has you hiding in tall grass terrified of the cries of a Parasect or Krictetune nearby
I feel like making Kricketune's BST go to 440 would be even more thematically fitting, since tuners are typically set to A = 440 Hertz as a frequency.

"Using Kricketune as a trump card" is something I NEVER thought I would hear.
Lumineon is my favorite water type due to its design as well as its cry
It also has roost in legends arceus so it was fun to use

That's actually a genius idea!
YES. PERFECT FOR THE POKEMON THAT'S LITERALLY WEAK TO BUG!!!
Maybe even add a trait where it does 1/16 hp of the enemy if it makes physical contact
While that's a unique idea, it doesn't help carnivine in the slightest, seeing as it's weak to bug.

For Lumineon line it's pre evo is called Beutifly of the sea moves like Silver Wind and Moon Light would really suit it (Moon Light over Morning Sun because it's dex entry always refer to night and stars)

Yeah. No guard is a huge downgrade from intimidate, especially on Luxray
the 3 elemental fangs are egg moves for Luxray

A Gen 4 pokemon that needs to be “fixed” is purugly. It is SOOOOOO fast and yet it can’t do anything at all with its speed. I would ATLEAST increase its physical attack so make it a fast glass cannon. Since its defences and hp is pretty low!! If not I would MINIMUM buff its HP to make it a fast pokemon that can survive for many rounds due to its big health. However, I think the fast glass cannon concept works better to fix it
Shouldn't it have high defense considering it's a big fat house cat?
Give it the fur coat ability is a simple fix

Thanks a lot for the kind words!! I'm glad you enjoy it
I've seen someone suggest this buff on r/Stunfisk, but seeing how Carnivine is based on a plant whose defining characteristic is eating bugs, it should really have an ability that heals it when its hit by a Bug-type move.
Damn a grass type that can heal off u-turn spam is wild

This has been brought up before in other instances of someone saying Luxray should be Dark-type:
Luxray has more to do with light than darkness, it was never depicted as malicious or underhanded, being black does not warrant getting Dark, and its only Dark-type moves in its level-up moveset are Bite and Crunch, which are just bites.
Good point. I never thought of it that way
Dark types aren’t inherently evil though, for instance Absol warns of potential disasters, Umbreon is chill. Mewoscarada is essentially just a performer. Also the light associations already fit with the electric typing, I really don’t think adding dark is that crazy.

Has any non-Bug ever gotten Compound Eyes?
@ I don’t think so. I do love that’s it’s basically a signature bug ability but I feel it’d work for Luxray well, especially since I love running Ice Fang and Snarl on mine’s lol

Im surprised nobody ever decides to give luxray GLARE when its whole thing is having visual powers.
only snake pokemon learn that and luxray can paralyzed already
Something I recently discovered about Wormadam Sand Cloak.
It can learn both Skill Swap, and Fissure
It's niche, but pair that in a double with an Ally with No Guard, and if you can stay alive, you've got a sweep machine...
Carnivine has a special place in my heart since I had a carnivine figurine as a kid so it featured heavily in a lot of my make believe stories even though I was never able to catch it in the great marsh.
I used carnivine on my first ever play through of Diamond as a kid! It was one of my faves back then and I still have a soft spot for it today
I love how he uses a tourist spot from my region as a background to Luxray
The “Soloist” ability is a very fun idea, really enjoyed the video!
As a wormadam enjoyer I agree they just need a base stat boost. Depending on the gen they can be taught signal beam/quiver dance, but even with that, and max ivs and ev training barely helps with such low stats overall :(

If you do Alola is going to be fun, considering that even two of the starters are underwhelming in a story playtrough.

Kriketune not getting encore is a crime
Honestly Luxray's coverage is good for an electic, ice fang allows it to deal with grounds which is very rare for pure electrics.
If anything the lack of a good physical electric stab is a bigger issue
In my first time playing platinum i saw fineon and thought it looked cute, captured it to use as my water type...
And oh boy did it dissapoint me
Even though a large part of me wants to see Lumineon wreck shop with a special attack buff and Tail Glow, I think it'd work better to make it a support mon. It already has some good support moves in u-turn, encore, icy wind, and tailwind; Just give it +20 to HP and +10 Special Defense, as well as access to Wish, Light Screen, and Reflect. I can imagine getting a decent amount of mileage using that version of Lumineon.
Whats wild is that most of the moves he gave these mons were ones I had to go, "Wait, they didnt have that before??"
Luxury is a shiny example of making logical decisions that can actually flush the Pokémon out.
as a musician, your redesign of kricketune sounds really exciting. I would totally use it if it had those ability/stats/moves .

Up until a few years ago, I thought that Luxray was an electric/dark type. I was honestly shocked it was a pure electric type when I played gen 4 for the first time.
Honestly, Kricketune is really slept on with X-Scissor and fell stinger in like the Gen 4 remakes. That bug could do some nasty damage.
Luxray's issue is it didn't get a good reprint in later gens. It's postgame locked in G5 and G6 (though would have been good to see alongside Pyroar in XY, probably was gonna be in Z), island scan in G7 and DLC in SS
Regarding some of the mons mentioned, I got some buff ideas for them
Luxray doesn't need a type or ability change but rather wild charge needs to be 120 Base Power just like Double Edge and Luxray's Special Attack Stat (95) should be swapped with its Speed Stat (70) and now it's a fast Guts pokemon
Lumineon, maybe swap its stats around, HP (69) with Defense(76)?, Special Attack (69) with Special Defense (86) and buff its Special Attack again by 10 (96). Give it Quiver Dance because butterfly/moth-like Pokemon all learn Quiver Dance and Lumineon a literal BUTTERFLY
Wormadam, agreed with the stat buffs, give them some abilities too, Wormadam Grass= Grassy Terrain?, Wormadam Sand= Sand Stream, Wormadam Trash gets idk Iron Barbs? Wormadam Sand should also get Spikes and Shore Up, makes sense for Sandy Cloak specifically, and give all Wormadam forms U-Turn. Mothim Atk (94) and Spe (66) swap and we add 20 to the Spe and SpA (both 94->114)
Carnivine is perfect, I'd let it learn Toxic tho and maybe make it have a signature ability where it's immune to bug moves and resists Poison (not sure if venus flytraps can handle types of poison/acid but since it uses acid as mentioned I think this decision makes sense)
I like the Kricketune buffs the ideas are solid but I got a makeover of my own
Stats: HP 77->57, Atk: 85->75, Def and SpD (i forgot but it's gonna be kept the same), SpA: 55->95, Spe: 65->95, Base Stat Total: 384->424, I'd make it Bug/Normal as well, unused type combo along with it fitting as a musician. I'd give it a signature ability where it's immune to Sound-Based Moves and when it uses Sound-Based Moves, it gets boosted in power by 50%, I'd slap Boomburst on it, Bug Buzz is sound based and give it U-Turn to pivot
it give kriketune a unique ability, i was thinking on diferent concepts like
"Melomaniac"
Sound based moves by this pokemon have 100% accuracy
"Duet"
In double battles, if a pokemon uses a sound base move, pokemon with ability Duet uses it as well (like oricorio)
"Grand Entrace"
The first sound based move when this pokemon enters the battle, has +1 priority
Woop! That's essentially what I say whenever we get a new Woop video.
Some good words of wisdom: wooper is life
IDK why you would ignore kricketune's intended design like that.
My nostalgia insists there are no bad Gen 4 pokemon
In Gen IV, Luxray can very easily get the fangs by breeding, specifically from Hippowdon. Luxray is my go to, all purpose, type coverage Pokemon in Sinnoh playthroughs.
Gen 5 Maractus, Zebstrika, Monkey Trio, Audino, Drudigon
I was wondering what you were going to cover with Luxray at first, but changing it to an Electric/Dark type or changing its moveset would honestly perfect a fairly solid Pokemon.
I feel like dark doesnt actually help Luxray. Tho giving it Strong Jaw would be alot better for it
Fun fact carnavine is a great early game Pokémon in Pokémon conquest.
Since It can fly and attack 3 Pokémon in a row
giving dark to luxray is the most overused trope, it would be more interesting to give it a psychic type since it haves fire and dark coverage to deal with bug and ghost types and stab zen headbutt is quite nice
THEY ARENT BAD, THEY ARE JUST SPECIAL!
Can you please not type in all caps?
@@Amelia4111 I LIKE TO LIVE THE LIFE AT 100%
i would personally give lumineon a secondary electric type, it's a more unique combination having just lanturn and rotom wash with the same type and would match the neon theme of the mon + swift swim 100%accurate stab thunders or hurricanes in rain would be a nice way to use it
Keep Luxray pure Electric-type.
Might as well give Kricketune a Supreme Overlord reskin. A gradient over an absolute.
The thing about making Luxray a dark type is the fact it has LIGHT in its fucking name. Lux is latin for light
Luxray should get night slash level up too, super strong STAB attack w/ high critical hit ratio
Atk and atk give mothim tailwind icy wind swords dance feather dance dragon dance water pulse and infestation instead of bug bite
Also give it wind rider
I would give Lumineon another evolution. Make it water/fire or water/fairy and make it really use it's luminescence/light with offensive attacks, maybe even its own attack.
We don't use the word its as a pronoun if there's an apostrophe in it the first time!
Seeing my boy Luxray on the thumbnail makes me extremely sad, even though it's kinda true
I am honestly shocked Carnivine was never able to use Sucker Punch, yet Wormadam can.
Its poor stats and coverage break my beart so much
I agree! I love its design, but it's just not that good unfortunately
To help with Luxray, I would offer up these changes in addition to what you said:
-Rivalry should be replaced with either Strong Jaw, Tough Claws, or Compound Eyes.
Here's what I'd do to help Carnivine out:
-I'd either give it the Strong Jaw ability or give it a unique ability that it would share with Bellsprout, Weepinbell, and especially Victreebel.
