    This is totally unrelated to the video, but I just wanted to thank you, Thomas. Five years ago the algorithm recommended your video about the 718 Cayman to me, and that was the moment I became a "car guy" for lack of a better term. That silhouette has been burned into my brain ever since and I knew that I had to own a Cayman within my lifetime. Fast forward to New Year's Day this year, and I finally have the keys to a 987.2 Cayman PDK. Every day I go into my garage, see that magnificent profile, and feel just a little bit more joyful. So thank you for igniting my automotive passion. Best of luck in 2022!

    I am so with you on the topic of A/C control unit, Thomas! Had 2017 A4 for over 3 years and this classic layout is honestly the best. No voice control or displays (boo Audi for recent A6 interiors) will ever come close to this one. Also would it be possible to check consumption while in battery charge mode? How much does the electricity generation tax the fuel consumption? Or did you say it and I have just missed it? Thank you for another great review, Thomas! 🙏🏻

  • @harshvardhanagrawal

    First, I cannot believe that you made a video on this car. Its not so high up in demand that people would need to know about but I am really happy you did it anyway. I work at Audi hence I have for myself a leasing offer and got a 55 TFSI E of this car. I have been using it for 2 months now and can second everything you said. Priced at 95000€ my car also has cheap hard plastics (unacceptable exactly at this price), since mine is a 55 version, the power is more but also is the fuel consumption. The range shows 45 km or so, haven't charged it to full yet but the actual range is may be 30-33 km within the city. The petrol range is always 490 km on a full tank. When the battery is empty never below 15l/100km. I have got in my log 17-22l/km in City when the battery wasn't charged. Also the lane keep assist is not really automation side as you stated, it's more of guiding you. On the contrary, it's a big and bold and comfortable SUV. Does pretty good acceleration and has a very neat top speed. Thank you for the video again.
    Editing the comment to add something - The automatic boot closing and opening sound is very cheap for a car of this price range.

      @lrd669 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      €95.000 for a car with a plastic interior, a (very) thirsty engine, a electric range of 30-33km which is useless, no really new high tech stuff, and a look like a Chinese brand. Wow, you must be a big fan. I am an Audi fan to, my first one was a 100GL, but this is over the top price-wise.

    • @harshvardhanagrawal
      @harshvardhanagrawal 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lrd669 well, as I said, I work at Audi and this was a private leasing offer. We must use the car only for 6 months and give it back at the end of the tenure. For 650€/month on top of which I get paid for the fuel, its not a bad deal. I would actually drive all the top models while I'm working here.

    I always enjoy your videos, Thomas, and your attention to detail is excellent (e.g. clicking on the heater controls to hear the sound) which a lot of other reviewers miss. This helps to get a better sense of quality and whether the vehicle offers value for money. Something that I miss from your original TH-cam format is the 60 seconds or so at the end when you provide your final thoughts when standing by the vehicle. In this latest format, you fade out at the end while driving which always makes me wonder if there is more to be said. Overall content is always superb, of course, so in all other respect your reviews are the best and deserve an audience of over half a million subscribers. Note to self: must get some of your Noah shoes!

    Thanks for another great Audi video. Yours are the best! I have a 2021 Q5 in Navarra Blue. Love it. I prefer my standard Q5 to the sportback, looks better and is more practical. The Q3 sportback, however, I think does look better than the standard model. Totally agree about the climate unit in the Q5. By far the best ever. Seems to be something Audi adds on when using 255 tires on the current gen Q5, Q7, and A4/S4 (though only on the front for the A4/S4). Other models don't use them as they already have extended fenders relative to their tire sizes, I presume. They are held on by three clips. Can't imagine what they accomplish, but that's regulatory bodies for you.

    It's certainly more expensive in Germany than the US. Highest trim fully loaded is $69k in the US before tax credit, but $61,500 after credit. (Sales tax excluded, around $5k in most states ) Some states will offer additional incentives. That's versus $56k for the 40 TFSI and $59,650 for the 45 TFSI... so not much more than the 45 TFSI. Not sure why you'd say this isn't more fuel efficient than the ICEV version. In EPA, in hybrid mode it's rated at 26 mpg combined versus 25 mpg for the ICEVs. In electric mode it's rated at 61 mpge, and gets 23 miles of range. Certainly not the most efficient PHEV, but nightly charging will absolutely result in better fuel efficiency than the ICEVs, lower fuel costs, less maintenance, and less brake wear. I imagine Europe is really pushing to install chargers at workplaces, which could effectively double this vehicles daily EV range. Whether this car justifies its price is debatable... but then it usually is when it comes to luxury vehicles.

    After 4 months my Q5 sportback broke down completley due to battery failure (affecting brakes, gearbox and pretty much every functionality of the car) It shall be really embarassing for Audi. Surprisingly it is not ;(((

    Too much chrome and that HIDEOUS iPad “info-entertainment” popping out in the middle of the dashboard. It is atrocious that my Q8 got the new cabin 3 years ago and Audi can’t bother to do update the Q5 which is their highest sales SUV.

    They should replace the hard plastic with animal skin.

      They can use leatherette for that.

      Please tune in to what the animal leather industry tried to do here with our channel: th-cam.com/video/nP_CvLlaFlI/w-d-xo.html
      In general, depending on the animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat would be the reason no.1 in other cases, the hide remains one of the most profitable body parts. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you accept it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and destroys the environment, you make them more profitable. Also, if you turn the argument around "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize how biased the argument is. After all, would you care for which exact body part you would be murdered? Or imagine someone robs you on the street and beats you to death - would it matter to you if it was for your Smartphone or for your purse?
      The animal agriculture industry occupies 2/3 of all farm land on this planet which cannot be used for direct human nutrition then. That is extremely inefficient. The no.1 cause for deforestation is the animal industry. It is also one of the biggest contributor to climate change. The amount of land, resources, energy and water being used is beyond imagination.
      If you are interested in how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: th-cam.com/video/tkjCAmq1_8E/w-d-xo.html
      Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally.
      For the alternative, you can either use artificial fabrics which can be made from recyclables (we have already shown a lot of vehicles that use great fabric seats from PET-bottles etc.) or more and more also from plant-based materials (like Pinatex). And even if you would create a seat completely with petroleum without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is nothing in comparing just to once fueling up your car.
      In practical reasons, fabric or microfibre seats are just more useful. You do not sweat in summer and it is not cold in winter. And if you want the slick look or something to wipe clean easier, that is possible with animal free leatherette.
      And there are also new leatherette materials available which are superior in every aspect: th-cam.com/video/u94YXJ72UTA/w-d-xo.html
      More and more natural materials are rising: th-cam.com/video/nRSsXEnwHDo/w-d-xo.html
      Using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all it is just common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. We cannot change what we have bought in the past (that also counts for ourselves of course!), but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.

    Honestly it looks outdated on the inside (practically unchanged since the previous generation of A4 / Q5, except for a larger screen) and the more affordable brands have stepped up in material quality as well as infotainment and security features that are already included in higher trims, for the most part. This Q5 (not specifically the hybrid, all Q5's) makes absolutely no sense price-wise and is an overpriced car for badge snobs. I would take the new Lexus NX or a DS7 over this any day, and save money doing it.
