I have the 20 watt version. It has a few issues. The y-belt on the right side slips off the rollers about every 3 uses. The filter is completely ineffective. The biggest issue I have is the laser module falls out of its slot about every 5 issues regardless of how tight I crank down the screws. Lastly, performing a firmware upgrade, which Elegoo told me to do, was far more difficult and troublesome than it needed to be and there is no useful guidance of any kind. I talked to Elegoo about all of the issues and the basic response was they hoped I could fix it and good luck. The machine is about 3 weeks old.
The belt issue should be an easy fix. The way they run the belts can be challenging to get them right, it took me a few minutes even with my experience with similar machines. Was there an issue that requires a firmware update? If not, I would rock on with the current system. The slippage on the module could be caused by wear on the dovetail, maybe a file and clean up the connection points. It is possible that the machine that I got is a newer run but so far, it has performed pretty well.
@@TheClackShack Any belt help is greatly appreciated. Elegoo customer support has been horrendous. The machine became non-operational about 5 days after I received the laser. It would turn on, but not respond to any commands from the LCD or when plugged into a computer. Elegoo told me it was a known issue and to update the firmware. That was it. The firmware update procedure from their website is not remotely applicable to this machine. I will definitely try to clean up the dovetails. Thanks for the awesome channel by the way!

For me the belt system took me time to figure out since my belt came off when assembling. The limit switches should have been standard, Geeks at Large do offer a kit for it. This is Elegoo's first go at laser and it will improve over time. Their fmd and resin printers are solid. Sadly i have not received my accesories yet for the Phecda and am anxious
Is this machine still working out for you? I am thinking of buying it as my first unit. Medical issues have limited my budget and learning to laser engrave is a bucket list thing.

What would you recommend in the price range of $500-1000? I was looking at this one because I like Elegoo 3D printers, but the Atomstacks and Atezrs seem to beat this one out a little for a tad bit more money. Or what would you recommend?
Once your stainless test round has folded and malformed from the thermal expansion the focal point of your lasers' ( fiber test and diode) has now moved , completely invalidating the test beyond the point of malformity
Hi, Great video, I'm curious about your opinion whether I would be able to go 2mm deep and take out Bold letters for epoxy filling, I'm talking letters that are 30mm wide and about 10" tall. Thanks,
I have done deeper with other machines, multiple passes and you can get good depth. You could technically go up to about 5 mm deep and keep pretty good detail. Just need plenty of passes
I would probably stick with 5mm or less to maintain a smooth edge. You could do more but the edge may be rough from all the passes. You will be limited to black opaque
@@TheClackShack Alright.. Thanks for replying :) And among OLM2 PRO S2 with 10W laser and this 20W variant, which one's better overall not considering price according to you..?
I run LPI at around 200. It depends on the beam size but most 20 or 30 watt machines, 200 works well. Power and speed will vary by color and manufacturer. I recommend a power speed test
hi, i bought a 10 w elegoo phecda yet i am failing constantly)) can not cut even a 1mm craft paper higher than 100 mm per minute and 100 percent power))i use the lightburn material test and i believe i am doing something wrong ...having air assist and honeycomb yet feels like laser can not give right power. is any setup for lightburn for this particular machine or do i have a mechanical problem?
@TheClackShack S Value is 1000. I checked that part first. I believe I am struggling with the focusing.I even made a ramp test for the finest focus point, and it is how it is supposed to be. Still no limit switches, laughable magnetically attached plexi shielding, a dysfunctional smoke filter which really serves no purpose and those stilts for risers are going to do the Bill Haley shake, rattle and roll I think Elegoo should stick to 3D printers.

Yea, the belt did that on mine.
Will this machine cut 1/4" hard wood
Yes, typically

It still works, I am not using it a family member is. There are other machines that are even more budget friendly.

It isn't a bad machine but I do like Atomstack machines a little better for what I do.

Yep
I have the 10 watt version and the air filter dose help but I have an enclosure that exhausts out the window
Yea, it collects some but in my testing the cutting was a little more than it could handle.
How do you like the 10w version I'm looking at one currently, literally no reviews out there lol.

Hi, witch stepper driver used? Some TMC drivers does not need end/limiting switches, they detect the end stop without. (StallGuard)
The kind that grind if you go too far. Even on the control screen, it will not home. I am aware of machines such as xtool who use soft limits.
Can you tell me how thick black acrylic sheet can this 20W variant cut?

3mm acrylic, yes
