    In 2022 Pat (27) developed Depersonalization Disorder, triggered by a panic attack at a concert.
    He struggled with DPDR and its symptoms for about 7 months. As he described to me in a recent email: "I thought that my life was over and there was nothing I could do about it. I still have anxious moments and stressful days like anyone else, but you helped me get through the symptoms of DP that lasted for months."
    Fortunately Pat has since made a complete recovery! In this brand new extended interview Pat tells me all about his experience with and recovery from Depersonalization Disorder.

      @@panterwakanda4ever uhm, it feels normal haha how do I put it? It is very anticlimactic…because recovery happens so slow that you do not notice it. And you have to be consistent in letting the fears be there because anxiety can be a bit of pain in ways that it can trick you into thinking you have not recovered. This is the most sinister part of anxiety recovery.
      Emotional numbness. Well, your mind plays tricks on you when you are on overdrive and fearful at the same time! It happened to me, I thought I lost all my emotions, but now I am me hahaha. Still me. There are days when I am relieved that I have recovered, others when I do not care at all because there are more important things to worry about.
      So yeah, just do not overanalyze every little detail that is changing and you will be fine! Hope it helps.

      thats the cycle of how dpdr works. You are worried about "input symptom here" and the brain wonders how to get rid of it. When you cant figure out a way out you keep the cycle going. The way to recover is to accept what is happening for what it is. A sensitive nervous system. Everybody goes through trauma, everybody has been depressed, everybody has had difficult times in their lives. The way to recovery is to not victim blame and to move forward. No matter how hard it feels. No matter how useless it feels. Feelings are just feelings, you have the ability to do and move forward a little bit at a time. Every day a little bit better. This is simply an issue of fear of the unknown and we get better by exposing ourselves to the things we are most afraid of. Theres nothing wrong with being depressed, the body is just exhausted and you are rushing it to get better. How mad would you feel if you were super tired and someone was forcing you to work out every single day no matter how tired you felt? Its basically the same thing.

  • @dimetrodon2250
    @dimetrodon2250 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Since DPDR puts you into a dissociative state. Is it possible that I’ve been convinced myself of all sorts of things all the time? Is it possible that I’ve hypnotized myself out of enjoying my interests? Just a random thought that popped into my head, since I feel so different every single day.
    It’s so hard not to follow these thought rabbit holes. I know I’m not supposed to keep looking things up all the time, to keep looking into things all the time, but I’m scared that I don’t know how to undo this whole mess. I know it’s all just anxiety covering everything else up, or something like that, but even when I’m calm I don’t feel right. This just… blanket of wrongness over everything.
    I’m scared that I’ll never be the person I was a mere few weeks ago. I just want my life back. I don’t know if I’m depressed, going through autistic burn out, going crazy, becoming another person, feeling broken, lost my personality, having memory issues, or what.
