The wonderful paradox about this channel is that you get to see and hear the most vicious, disturbing things while these guys radiate a sense of wholesomeness and charm that makes evil somewhat bearable, sometimes even weirdly light. Ironically, this is my go to channel when I feel bad about humanity.

All I can think is ‘I’d hate to do something wrong and get interrogated by these guys’… I think Greg would be the most overtly scary interrogator to face. Scott, Chase and Mark would lull me into a false sense of security and I’d think I was safe, having a nice chat whilst unknowingly giving it all away, Greg’s stoic fixation would unnerve me like no other. You guys inspire me to keep learning, I think your discussions and observations are fascinating ❤

All I can say is that over 30 years ago, I thought my son had wandered off when we were at the park. I turned around and he was gone. I immediately panicked and started SCREAMING his name. He was actually about 10 feet away from me behind a tree. To this day, I still remember the horrific panic I felt. These two adoptive parents were casually looking for them? B.S.

But instead of running right to the open gate and yelling up and down the street, he says he went back inside to check the house again. If I was worried that they had gone out the open gate, I would run out the gate screaming their names !!

I’d like to see an experienced trauma / CTPSD psychologist on the panel, as well, to respond each time the panel says, “If it it were me, I’d (fill in the blank)”. As someone who suffered severe childhood trauma, I still find it difficult to not over explain, find it a challenge to put verbal sentences together coherently, and to show emotion according to how society in general ‘decides’ how people ‘would’ be displaying emotions under certain circumstances. Being told I ‘would ‘ feel this, that or the other thing if I were genuine, makes me withdraw even further. I had to watch a lot of movies to learn how to show emotions (not necessarily’ feel’ them, because I shut off at a very young age) and to learn when these are deemed suitable to show and to what degree. On his channel, Patrick Tehan talks about how and why some people like myself display habits that have nothing to do with guilt, being uncaring, being a ‘monster’, etc. We seem to break all the rules, not fitting other people’s moulds.

YES!! I noticed/thought that exactly! He’s blaming them-he’s criticizing them. The emphasis on playing with chalk and not just playing on the patio bothers me, too.
And aside from all the other stuff, the police told you to stay home so they could reach you. They didn’t tell you that you’re not allowed to take coffee to the searchers or thank them or anything else; they didn’t lock you inside your home as they would a prison cell. That’s not the intent behind “stay home so we can reach you.” I can’t imagine staying home and not searching, but if they convinced me to do so then I *really* can’t imagine not offering drinks, snacks, whatever to the people looking for my child!

I'll tell you a story. When my daughter had just turned three it was about 9pm at night. It was just beginning to be a little cool at night. There was dew on the ground. She was in her bed watching a movie.
Her father did I'm going next door to see my mother and brother. I said ok and went to the computer in the bedroom. The back door was right by the bedroom door.
He went and checked on her and then went out the back door. I didn't hear the open again.
A bit later he returned. Maybe 15 to 20 minutes. He went and checked on her again. He came running in the room and said "she's missing." I said what do you mean? "She is in her room." He said "no she's not."
I jumped up and he ran, I followed him to her room. He was right there was no child to be seen. I cut the light on and still nothing. We checked the entire house calling her name. Nothing. Back to her room, I threw back the covers. Nothing.
We stood for a few seconds and then he said "maybe she followed me" I said "but I didn't hear the door open or close after you went out" he said "I wasn't looking behind me or paying attention"
I ran to the back door opened it and looked out and said 'no way she went out there in a nightgown with no shoes, this is a child who cries when her hands get dirty and the grass is wet and it's kinda cold"
He said "let's check anyway" so I went out the door and my eyes caught her little ball, one of those you get from the store that's colorful, light weight, and filled with air. It was across the street by an electric fence next to a cow pasture. The pasture wasn't very big. Just a few acres.
I ran back up the steps and yelled her ball is across the street. I grabbed the house phone and ran outside. Across the street and to the fence yelling her name.
The side yard was overgrown and a wilderness. With panthers and such, the other side a cow pasture with an electric fence, the back behind his mother's a bayou with alligators. The front a row of neighbors houses and a road that lead out.
He ran to his mothers and around her yard, I looked by the fence over into the cow field and around the front neighbors. This took maybe three minutes.
I didn't know at the time but at the same time I was in the the front yard calling the state troopers her father was in the back calling the city police and the city Marshall at home.
I started calling family members telling them come help me look, we split up without even talking to each other and started knocking on doors telling people please help, knock on doors and get everyone outside.
Maybe five minutes later cops were there and I was yelling block off the roads in and out. Call it in and block off the interstate my child is gone, she's not here. Don't let anyone who could have picked her up in the road get out of town.
The first cop said calm down, I said calm down hell my child is missing. He said we always find them within 20 minutes.
He made me go inside and tell him what I just told you.
There were so many cops inside there was no room to stand or walk. They were multiple agencies. I've never seen so many cops or cop cars in one place. As soon as the were done asking me question I was back outside and looking again. I didn't give them a chance to say anything to me. I was gone. I saw them form a line and head into the brush of the side yard with flash lights so I went the opposite direction.
Running I cleared the electric fence in one hop I ran the entire field screaming her name.
I could hear people yelling her name from one end of the road to the other, the house was full of people and every light was on.
Every single cop, neighbor and family member checked the house. We all started looking from ground zero. Which was her room.
I got to the end of the field and I hit me knees sobbing. I could see flashlights at the far reaches in each direction.
I screamed out to God sobbing.
At that exact moment I heard her uncle scream "I found her, I found her"
I instinctively ran toward the sound of his voice. Again clearing the fence. It couldn't have taken a whole minute for me to get there. I've never ran so fast before or after that day.
Before I realized where I was I was again standing in her room. I was shaking his shoulders saying where is she, she's not in here. He just pointed.
The bed was against the wall. I couldn't see anything but the bed. I looked at him and he smiled. I wanted to shake him harder. He just said look down there.
She had fallen between the bed and the wall but her lower half was folded around the corner of the bed. So she was at a 90 degree angle with her arms above her head her waist in the corner and her legs going down the other side.
I didn't know at the time but when I had thrown the blankets and sheet off the bed initially looking for her the blanket had landed on top of her.
All the lights and people, the sirens, everyone screaming her name and she never woke up. Not even when he found her and was yelling I found her from her room standing right over her. She never woke up and never moved.
That's when shock set it. I couldn't speak, I couldn't move, I couldn't breathe, as more and more people came into the room I was pushed back and out of the room and funneled down the hall. Into the living room where I collapsed on the couch. It wasn't until them that I began to sob.
Everyone who had been looking for wanted to see where she had been.
It took longer for everyone to look at her after she had been found than it had for them to get there and start looking.
I would like to go back now and listen to those emergency calls. I don't know what I said or anything. I do know I didn't cry until after she was found.
I'd like to hear emergency calls from children who have been found compared those it's known for a fact were harmed by the person who made the calls.

I still don't know where I found that strength, to keep going over all others falling apart ..irraticly blaming and then circle the wagons to blame you for the fact, they couldn't do what I did. It was my mother too. I gave her mouth to mouth, which I had never done in my life,,the ambulance drivers said, how did you do that as checking her vitals...they said you don't have to take her to hospital but I did for the family sake, that didn't appreciate I had just saved her life. That gave her another 9 yrs to her life. so much more I could carry on about..but I'm sure you know that numb feeling when it's family or anyone ..you automatically do whatever you can to find, help, save, or whatever if it means having them back in your life. Bless you for the stress you felt, what well worth it no matter what ok..hope you have continued to have her safe as well as yourself.

Not only that, if Google or whatever, if you just transfer in reset to a new phone, cuz you don't want to lose everything, just in case..your keyboard errors are remembered too, to every error you ever made..darn it all eh? I don't like trusting my eyes ot fingers to the sounds like look a like words, some I see have no problem .long nails and bigger hands, why can I do that, it's a hit and miss with me. A question I have been asking a lot recently is, "How are you feeling emotionally?" A lot of people seem like they don't even know how they feel. So the control of their emotions on their face and in their body is completely reactionary. It's all been very helpful for me.

My son (when he was 4) snuck out of the house when he was supposed to be taking a nap. First of all, I felt guilty as h3ll, because as soon as I put him down for his nap, I took a nap. So, when my alarm went off, I went to wake him and found the back door wide open. I yelled out the back door for maybe 15 seconds. Then I ran in and got my phone and ran out the front door and started screaming for him. I would not have taken the time to even drive around the neighborhood first, I was ready to dial 911 in less than two minutes! But my neighbor heard that and came around his house with my son. He wanted to watch them build the fence. I guess I felt a little dumb, but I'd still do the same thing. It's kind of hard for me to believe those guys would wait 2 or 3 hours to call the police.

I would get to the front door, have an "oh crap" moment, and would have to run back upstairs to get it.

Coming in at the end of the day we went right upstairs & took off our coats & often put them on before going back downstairs to leave. We also wore hoodies & puffy vest jackets during the coldest parts of winter. Definitely not abnormal for many with big old drafty houses.

Same. My dog got lost during a thunderstorm as a puppy. He was scared by lightning & dug under the fence to escape our yard. I called police & fire dept & was looking all over in a torrential downpour. Fire dept found him. He'd crawled under a neighbors' deck to hide from the storm. Firemen knew exactly where to look when they saw the neighborhood. Apparently, many young dogs run away & go under decks during storms. But yeah, most of us show more emotion for our lost pets than these folks do for lost kids

Sandra it's terrifying. I feel for you and all commenter and others who have been frantic in their search to find their beautiful pets.
Years ago November 1994 my tiny dog was taken from the house I was visiting, when I nipped out. I came back to find him gone. It was dark, pouring with rain, and about 8.45.p.m. I ran outside, it was freezing too. I deducted the person who did this had took him in the opposite direction to where I would walk from. So that meant he was in the direction of a dual carridgeway. I ran and ran shouting his name, and just ran along the oncoming traffic to see my little dog bewildered and disorientated walking aimlessly in the direction of oncoming traffic. I called him shouting stay still. He heard me and I grabbed him up in my arms. I was trembling and feared. And so was he. I never left him on his own after that evening. Ten years later on the 23 Dec in 2004 he was murdered, throttled by a man who snatched him up out of my garden when I turned my back for a couple of minutes. He had grabbed him, throttled him, and thrown him to the ground just up my street yards from my home. He was old and hadn't got much time left so I was staying where I was so he wouldn't get stressed by moving. Then that was done to him by an evil man. The shock of the throttling and impact to the ground caused him to have a massive heart attack, which happened when I got him home and put him on the sofa to get warm. It was all very quick from abduction to his death. I was devastated and cried for days. (I was been stalked and this is one of the evil scenarios that played out on me. I lit a few candles outside where he was last sniffing the grass and the killer of my dog called firebriggade on me. When they came out they couldn't believe there was no fire. And he was walking up to them when they stopped outside mine. He turned away when he saw me talk to them. I don't know who he was, but he did harm my dog) . I ran upstairs to get my boots on to get him off the muddy garden. Because he was a bit stubborn n wouldn't come in when I called him to. That's when he was snatched, seconds really. I took him everywhere with me. He was allowed in cafes restaurants, the library. Woolworths where he had his own special chair just for him. He was loved so much. He was my brave little soldier. So I know your pain of how you feel and all dog owners who love their pets.
SO any person who shows NOT ONE OUNCE OF EMOTION WHEN THEIR CHILDREN GO MISSING IS HIDING SOMETHING.,
This day marks the 17th year of my little dogs death, and I still get emotional and she'd tears for him and my sadness. He was so loving. I've had other dogs who also were loving. Im an animal lover. 💜💙❤️🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

I was really deeply invested in this as I find hubby and I quickly decide with TV interviews that we either feel dreadfully sorry for the family involved, or just as quickly say that doesn't make sense! It's awful to think how quickly we judge people, but it's very true, and quite human. As an Australian, I couldn't believe you mentioned the last guy was Australian. I thought that I must be absolutely clueless and not even slightly observant if I can't recognise an Aussie accent! I went back and rewatched, and the mention of Jill made me realise this was about Gillian Meagher. Her and her husband were Irish. There was an almost immediate social media search for her, as she had been out to drinks with work friends, phoned her brother as she left the bar, was walking the few minutes home ... and just disappeared. This area of Melbourne city is vibrant, lots of restaurants and places to meet up, brightly lit and you would feel safe there. CCTV in a dress shop just briefly captured her walking by and a bloke in a hoodie, and that lead to the case being solved. Yes, her husband behaved exactly as an innocent person would, and in great contrast to other examples used. Jill has never been forgotten here in Australia. RIP Jill. Always see friends safely home.

There was no description, names, habits, clothing, height, age, weight, not a damn thing out of the mouths of those parents to help find them, only some nonsense of THEIR steps that was totally useless info considering the context as this was supposed to be getting help with the search. It was more, "look at all the stuff we did, so you don't have to think we did this."

Years ago one of my dogs got out of the yard & I had taken off his collar to brush him right before he needed to go out & was going to finish we he came back in. The thought of my little dog being out on the streets with no identification I was absolutely beside myself. Omg, I was shaking and a nervous wreck. That is with one of my pets, God FORBID if one of my sons were missing…. No one can truly say how they would react in such a devastating situation and that’s a key word, “devastating” you see no devastation, no desperation for finding their “LOVED” one. I would think one would go through a cycle of adrenaline, denial, shock, & being distraught. They would have to sedate me at some point to keep me from being in hysterics.

I lived in northern Arizona and my Pittie "Budder Boy" ran off, I was devestated, I ran through pastures with my other dog, calling and calling, searching the rural neigborhood properties.... made signs, begged for help, talked to anyone outside I could find... I ran until I couldn't run anymore.... then I drove around and stopped and hollered.... so afraid he had gotten hit by a car, or someone had taken him, or the coyotes had gotten him...
..... I found him 6 hours later.... but I was a basketcase !! He was my Budder Boy! My best baby dog! I don't know how a child or a person could be lost without panic and devastation.....I know everyone's reactions may vary.....but, seriously??

Oh, every pet parent knows this.. you can literally taste the terror in your mouth, and the relief feels like a drug high when it's all over.
Missing Kids...??? I doubt I'd be in a rational mental state, I'd probably be admitted in hospital and sedated.
I remember this time I was dating someone really toxic and he threatened to kill my dog to hurt me. The next day the dog was gone to my mom's (but I stayed, financial reasons)
To date, I shudder to imagine if I'd have called his bluff. I think I would have destroyed myself with guilt.
I think that's why I struggle to understand psychopaths. It takes a whole lot to harm someone or something that trusts you with it's life.

I agree. Our gut instinct is so innate and powerful. It's a shame that we, particularly women, are taught to question our instincts from an early age.
We're "being paranoid" or "too sensitive" or whatever ridiculous, gaslighting phrase we're given to make us second guess strong impressions.
There's a really good book, that you might like, on the subject regarding instincts called
"The Gift of Fear" by Gavin de Becker. I've heard several former FBI agents refer to, and recommend, it. It's the science that's rather amazing.

Rushing to the front of the store to make sure nobody could take him out. It was another mother who calmed me enough to think. By that point, he'd been found. To this day, my heartrate goes up when I remember that time. I don't understand being calm when a loved one, especially a child is missing?

Exactly. I’ve literally lost site of my son for less than 5 minutes and automatically felt like I was about to throw up my actual heart any second, just thinking about it makes my stomach flip, I honestly think id literally die due to the stress and panic wondering how scared my child probably is, what could be happening to them at that very moment, if they’re even alive anymore, if some sick bastard is hurting them while you’re desperately searching, I’ve imagined it many times before and I don’t even know what I would say if having to plead for my child’s life through the media, but I SURE af KNOW I wouldn’t be calm about it. I understand everyone handles stress different but if I’m basically a hysterical mess just picturing it, then I don’t see how an actual loving parent could be anything less than hysterical actually living it.
