The American Bladesmith Society’s guidelines for Master Smith and Journeyman Smith applicants require that (s)he cut through hanging manila or sisal rope, a minimum of one (1) inch in diameter. The applicant must sever the rope in two with one stroke to test the blade’s edge geometry and sharpness.

Keep in mind the Large model also has the exact same build dimensions as this... the XL is just longer. So you could have an even higher strength/weight ratio in that knife. Immensely impressive, boys. Great job designing this knife Andrew. It's a masterpiece.

Espada was my first Cold Steel product. It is really been a great knife. Even now, it's still my favorite of all my blades.
Watching this video while owning one of these is such an amazing feeling (it’s a different feeling watching it before you actually own one) my suggestion: GET YOURSELF ONE (or 5 😆) ASAP!!!
This knife is still my largest & most impressive folding blade knife in my collection, which includes way more blades than anybody should own. Because of your aggressive testing procedures & your confidence doing so, I have come to trust & value all of the Cold Steel products that I have collected over the decades. I will be proud & confident to pass these knives down to my Grandkids when the time comes!!!

Look at the competitions' ads in magazines, online, or even on TH-cam itself. It's been happening for ages - which is one of the reasons Lynn Thompson got started in the blade business. He wanted more for his money as a consumer, and knew he could bring superior blades/weapons onto the market for fair prices.

Since june I have been wanting to buy a Espada Xl 62nx. I mailed CS in july and said they getting new stock begining august. No stock came in in august. Mailed again and CS said begining september. Now CS is saying end october. Wondering what is the reason why CS has no idea when they getting stock?!
Already paid CS the knife now I dont know when Im going to receive it.even see that its been removed from the website.

I have several Cold Steel knives, the best on the planet. I also have a 4Max, that knife tested a max weight of 808 pounds, and has titanium components. How the hell did they get so close in weight holding with essentially an aluminum knife of such proportions? Cold Steel all the way, ps could you send me one for a Christmas present, please, pretty please with sugar on top...

Frankie I’ve owned one since 2015. It’s great in a pair of loose jeans or cargo shorts. Expect the clip to tear up the edges of your pocket though.

cdawson198600 If I may ask, do you break knife locks very often? Imo Ti locks are just unnecessary. Would drive price way up and for what, so that my folder is able hold the weight of a baby elephant? Nah.
how'd he open the thing up like an automatic?
You see the small plate on the spine of the blade? They call it a thumb plate. You can use your thumb to open it one handed like usual, but when you carry it in your pocket and pull the knife out, it catches the side of your pocket and opens the knife for you on the way out.
That's why without a shadow of a dought you buy cold steel knifes you can put your life on every day in your life. That's why I carry cold steel every day.
