When I was listening to Konnan's podcast, Perry could be over as a heel (just like Guevara had with his wife Tay Melo) if he was paired with his gf Anna Jay. A wealthy son of an actor who's got it all and act like a condescending prick like Dominik Mysterio. The Jericho match vs Shibata looked silly. FTR was over when they fought the Briscoes and the spark is gone. The show seems to be content. Nothing that stands out at all or worth watching and seems to be the case with the viewership and ticket sales.
Who else doesn’t watch or care about wrestling at all yet watches every one of Shannon’s wrestling videos? Same with all the TV shows he talks about, I literally don’t know or care for them yet I like to watch Shannon talk about them.
There are three major problems with the EVP angle: 1. Why hasn't Tony fired the Bucks/Perry/Okada yet when he fired Punk for less? 2. The main heels in this angle are people the audience does not care about. When the Bucks are on TV hundreds of thousands of people change the channel. 3. Who is going to be the Steve Austin to go against this corporation? MJF is the closest thing, but he is injured.
Because it’s stupid. The EVP’s are meta heels basing their characters on internet hate against them. Jack Perry is still as bland as ever and needed Tony Khan to show CM Punk footage for some cheap heat. They should move on from the Punk stuff or taking shots at WWE. It makes them look small time when they have an amazing roster and great matches.
AEW caused the self destruction of their tag division. The trios titles did a number on the tag division, but the Bucks were a big part of it as well. Not only do all their matches feel the same (as you said), but their biggest rivals have actually gotten much worse since adapting to their style. Lucha Bros and FTR used to be my favorite teams. Now Lucha Bros are Young Buck clones and FTR are stale as can be.
Another issue is way too many titles. All the AEW champions, the roh titles show up. CMLL titles. Then after swerves big you have them have mox talk about winning the big Japan title. Completely makes the titles feel ordinary and not special when every segment had a title.
Exactly. I mean, we get it, Moxley is a bigger star in the business, yes, he just won a title with certain prestige, yes, but their focus should be on protecting their brand new AEW World champion, why put the idea in people's heads that Swerve is not really that big of a deal? 😮
It really doesn't help that their biggest draws are all hurt. MJF looks to be gone for the year with surgery, Kenny is still recovering, Adam Cole still isn't 100%, Britt Baker still has back issues, and Jamie Hayter is still hurt. Not to mention Sammy G is still suspended because he can't stop tripping over his own dong. Sting retiring doesn't help ratings/attendance-wise either. Everything just seems to be going wrong for them all at once and CM Punk is still hanging over them like a dark cloud.
That's been an excuse for years. AEW is constantly dealing with injuries at the top of their roster due to the indie style they allow. They've failed to adapt everytime. Look how that stupid devil storyline was handled.
The Young Bucks are not Main Event guys. They're the kind of guys who can have an absolute show-stealer match on the undercard, and niche personality draws (that should mostly be confined to short segments or web-exclusives). They're just not top of the card draws.
At least you are rational and make good points. Trashing AEW and saying "they suck" is a sure way to get clicks. Just easy copy. It's an industry of people rehashing the same points without using brain cells.
House of Black started out interesting, but none of Malakai Black's ideas ever end up going anywhere sensible. Just like Bray Wyatt. It all ends up being just rambling nonsensical promos. I'm sure some of that is due to the way AEW handles their storytelling and booking though.
The Cm punk footage airing really damaged AEW in the long term a lot of people have been turned off because of that and its gonna be a real uphill climb to gain that trust back
Mjf is out, Adam Cole ruined a good thing, cm punk cheap heat, TK is a clown, nobody cares about the Evp title after all out. FTR is being jobbed, swerve is being booked horribly, the womans division is horrible, the belts mean nothing, Jerico needs to retire. Darby tried to fight a bus and lost. Edge is just meh, the hardy boys have CTE and the old japanese wrestlers are no longer worth watching and obviously cant do english promos on American TV. Millions of dollars are on the IL, and half of the storylines are convoluted partially due to bad booking and partially due to the aforementioned spontaneous injurys. What did i miss?
Hardys aren't in AEW anymore. Adam Cole is injured, I don't understand what good thing he ruined besides his ankle 😂. What you missed is that Kenny Omega is still out & he's probably their most important guy. Besides Swerve, they need to start booking their big 3 free agents better: Jay White, Okada, & Ospreay. Ospreay is actually booked decently but the other 2 don't feel nearly as important as they should
@@peteg2715Adam Cole ruined MJF's title run with those goofy PWG skits and horrible devil storyline. MJF looked like a total idiot when he ended up being so obviously betrayed by Cole.
The fact of the matter is AEW isn’t gonna gain a lot of traction as long as WWE is hot. Also, going up against nhl and especially NBA playoffs isn’t gonna help. Not to mention the fact we’re only comparing AEW to itself and a hot WWE . Shows that we’re keeping up with AEW a few years ago are doing much worse than AEW right now.
@@bradleyminoski2020 Yes, the are the exception to the rule on tv right now. They are very hot. And they would be doing even better if they did not face said competition. Not to mention WWE has been established being on tv for 30+ and existing 60+ years.
I just went to Dynasty and I really liked the show. Haven't watched AEW since though. Showing the Punk footage was a bad move. Perry and Bucks come off as dweebs, not the good type of heat. Tony being involved has Foxcatcher vibes. He just wants to be one of the boys, but he is the boss and doesn't have "front of camera" charisma. He's fine in a limited role, ala Bockwinkel as WCW commissioner. But needs to be less friend of the talent and more boss. Swerve was white hot with the audience, and he's 8th fiddle in Tony's eyes to Omega, Danielson, Cole returning, MJF, Ospreay, etc. He's a mini McMahon when it comes to his favorites and losing interest with shiny new toys.
The angle is still too campy and comedy oriented to really grab the more casual or lapsed fan. Khan should have disappeared completely and the bucks shouldn’t be basically winking at the camera
I like AEW but I don't like Tony Khan. The reason why everyone tuned in for McMahon in WWE or Bischoff for WCW was because they were the asshole boss that you wanted to watch get their butts kicked. TK is the Shane McMahon that comes from money but thinks he's one of the "every day people" so you put up with him just so you can enjoy the rest of the party. TK had that guy who could have been the biggest heel GM in Punk but let him walk away and now Punk has a good relationship with the guy who hated his guts and is on his way to learning that exact role.
@@bradleyminoski2020Dixie listened to every criticism & tried to appease everyone. TK refuses to hear any criticism & pretends he’s got it all figured out.
I'd watch aew if it was on a streaming service next day like raw and smackdown on hulu. I don't have cable and I'm not gonna pay for it to watch one show. TV is dead. Aew needs to get with the times.
My issue with AEW is they do limited pushes with their younger talent then just kill it. MJF was the exception and to a point Darby but aside from that its thr ex wwe flavor of the week kinda thing. A company that was going to change tag team wrestling look had it stagnate 3 years ago. How many times can Jericho "reinvent" himself and be relevent? Moxley was a catalyst but he is also stale. They need to really change things up.
Great video! I'm really liking these wrestling videos. I'd love to see an WWE update next.

Konnan was fired by AAA because his booking was killing the company. He's just Disco Inferno with a different voice.
Even The Hockey Guy can book better than Tony khan 😂😂😂
Gotta love this cat and bunny channel

Me, kind of.
That’s how you become a great content creator, make the audience care about you not what you’re saying or doing.

they fell for the hype of how 'stacked' it was. the Trios watered it down and no one cares for either.
