    Hi!! So I just wanted to say that rabbits shouldn’t have any seeds etc. They do need A LOT LOT LOT more hay since their diet is made out of 80% of hay. And unless your rabbits are babies they shouldn’t have that many pellets. They should only have like 2 tablespoons, but they don’t even really need pellets but yeah. And make sure you give them a bowl of fresh nice veggies (do your research in what they can and can’t have) you should give them about 3 bowls a day (depends on your bowl size tho) one in the morning in the evening and right before you go to bed!! I don’t know if you’ll see this since this video is quite old but for anybody seeing this I hope you learned something.🥰 (watch Lennon the bunny or 101rabbits if you want to learn more about bunnies)

      Yes that is way too much pellets.

    lionhead rabbits (and just rabbits in general) should not be eating that many pellets. they are supposed to avoid all seeds and wheat, barley, and grain products. even certain rabbit treats aimed towards rabbits are unhealthy/lethal for rabbits. since lionheads are so fluffy they should be inside pets or kept in very cool dry outdoor areas with plenty of shade. also they need to have TONS of water and TONS of hay. rabbits also need plenty of fresh veggies. however, with veggie, it's good to avoid ones high is sugar such as carrots. fruits should be given sparingly (as a treat) I suggest doing some serious research on rabbit nutrition and safety, it's very easy to obtain rabbit information and might add YEARS to your rabbits lives.

    Not enough hay, too much pellets, fine when younger. Rabbits to be healthy should have hay greens, maybe pellets quarter cup though. Now way would give rabbits seeds and cereal

    I'm getting a lionhead or jersey wooly mix of some sort, (probably mixed with hotot Netherland or polish to reduce the fur like my old rabbit who was a Netherland jersey wooly mix)
    Questions:
    1: how are lionheads temperament, are they calm and okay with being held for long periods of time? But also are smart and like to play?
    2: what's the best breed for good intelligence and tolerance?
    3: what would be the best mix? (Are hotots and polish generally friendly?)
    4:how large do polish grow?
    5: do you know how fast white rabbits get dirty and if they clean the urine colour off their paws, because I know bathing is never an option.
    PLEASE FEEL FREE TO INPUT YOUR OPINION!!!
    (I'm naming her either Willow, Meadow or Cleo.)

The lass is very shy and I'm trying to get her accustomed to her new home but I've read somewhere that they do not like to be handled or held, so I'm a bit confused and could really use some help.

    I read that sun flower seeds are not good for rabbits because the oils in the seeds counter the nutrition they would get from their food, unless these kind are different, I feed my adult rabbit as a treat carrots, and she always gets hay,
    they do like oats,
    a few times when i ran out of rabbit feed, i gave them whole oats and they loved it, so thats good to know that they can be fed that on a regular basis, they love celery and romaine lettuce but I only feed that to the one adult rabbit I have, she is old now and I'm expecting her to pass away any time, my little ones are just getting 16%, mixed with 18% pellets, and hay, right now.

    Our Lionhead is about to be 2 years old, we lover her but she hates us (our other bunnies love us and enjoy coming near us and like pets). She won't let us touch her at all and it makes grooming very hard. Mostly she just seems afraid of everything around her, and we think that she might have too much fur around her eyes and maybe can't see, but she also has whiskers everywhere, including in the fur around her eyes and it concerns us. Sadly there is no pet groomers near us who do rabbits who could help us.
    This video was great, but I am wondering if there is any tips for trying to keep that area around the front of the eyes clean of hair.
    Thanks!

    • @hibitch2974
      @hibitch2974 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Zack Virgo Hair in these areas can be trimmed with scissors (carefully) or with (electric) small animal clippers. You will generally need a second person to help keep the rabbit still. One person can hold the rabbit straight up and down against their chest - one hand under the front legs, the other supporting the back legs and keeping the rabbit's back nearly-flat against you - to prevent twisting and kicking out, which could break the back

    Hi, just wondering why fresh greens aren't part of your recommended diet?

    • @zoya3284
      @zoya3284 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bunnies can't eat fresh greens until they are 7 months old, it gives them digestive issues which causes dehydration, which could be fatal.

    • @whisperingpinesmicrofarm1564
      @whisperingpinesmicrofarm1564  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zoya is correct in their reply - I do give some fresh clover on occasion but rabbits digestive systems are fragile and they do not like their diet messed with :-)

    • @shondarae1
      @shondarae1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My vet told me to give my doublemane lionhead fresh greens daily at 2 months old. No clue why anyone that isn't a vet would say anything different. I was told to give my bunny a variety of green veggies (2-3 kinds) as a part of her daily diet. I highly recommend following a vet's advice over a random pet owner on TH-cam.

    I use old towelets for my bunnies to rest on and I have indoor wire hutches, with wheels so they can be pushed outside for some fresh air, and in at night, it is kind of cool still outside so I will wait for a nice warm day, as they have been indoors for all the time we had them,
    I want to know, could i show my bunnies if they have not been bought from a breeder, our's were bought from a pet store they are very reputable people, and we have always had good quality pets from them,
    will the judges, allow this or do the bunnies have to be from known breeders, with papers and pedigrees? because my little girls look to be good quality bunnies though I don't know much about what is considered quality from the rabbit club point of view,
    is there a difference between pet, and show quality rabbits? and what constitutes show quality? when i've been to rabbit shows I've had the impression, that the rabbits I had could have given them a run for their money. anyways thanks again for you informative videos.

      All rabbits go thru puberty males and females. My female who was potty trained even started marking her territory like a male and trying to ride my leg and would bite me when I would let her. Getting your rabbit neutered stops all aggressive and marking behavior. Mine did. The difference of daylight and dark. Do your research before getting any new pet!

      It all depends on how the parents was and how good you are at socialize your bunny. I have a Netherland Dwarf rabbit, he’s a skittish rabbit and took a while to make him tame. If I didn’t take it slow he could have turned to be an aggressive rabbit, scared and never wanted to be picked up or cuddled.
      He gives me a lot of kisses and always cuddles with me when I watch movies. He’s just now starting to get comfortable in the cage, saw him sleep relaxed and he’s 7 months now.
      Rabbits also go through puberty and some will get grumpy and angry like a normal teenager get. And some stay the same.

    That is to much food for a lion head I’m not trying to be rude but a lion head rabbit should only be eating a quarter of a cup every 5 hours

  • @lostghoul9576

    i know this was a while ago but their diet is completely terrible. you should never feed your rabbit any kind of seeds no matter the breed and there wasn't any veggies and way too much pellets. i can tell you don't take very good care of your rabbits. also another thing is that bananas and other types of fruits and veggies (besides lettuce of course) are mainly treats for rabbits and really shouldn't be given in a large amount every single day. maybe one-two carrots daily or something like that depending on how much your rabbit weights, etc. also, shredded wheat is another thing that shouldn't be fed to rabbits in high amounts. if you're going to give them something like shredded wheat, maybe you should fill up a box of timothy hay instead since its good for their digestive system and keeps their teeth from over growing. just my opinion on the video.

    Your feeding and housing structure looks awful. I feel bad for your rabbits

  • @MusicwithMsHahn

    This is NOT what you should feed a bunny. They should have unlimited hay and water, fresh greens, and minimal pellets. Minimal fresh fruit or carrot pieces for treats. Cereal, seeds, and oats are SO bad for their digestive system. It can cause gas, pain, and possibly gut stasis. Please look it up. Learn from your local House Rabbit Society if you are going to get a pet bunny. DO NOT follow the diet advice in this video, or you’ll likely end up with a fat, sick bunny, and the vet bills are expensive! :(

      Why not? I think she's correct. I've had my doublemane lionhead for almost four years and both of her vets said almost exactly what Wisconsin Girl wrote. I tend to believe an actual vet over anyone else.

    You should delete this video. It's very incorrect and misleading information. Rabbits should not eat seeds and they should have unlimited access of hay. Please do some more research instead of misdirecting others.

    Thank you for the advice. My daughter got a lions mane for her birthday a couple years ago and I don't think he is very happy and I am trying to give him a happier life...more space and a better diet. Just a side note, you have got to stop saying um. It really distracts from your video.

    • @thejkaz1

      On a side note when my daughters bunny Henry was young he enjoyed pellets (Alfalfa) I would assume and diced carrots, lettuce, spinach, strawberries and timothy hay but now he won't eat anything but the pellets. Is he getting enough nutrition from the pellets alone? I know that disrupting the diet norm can cause digestive issues but I want to be sure he is getting enough of the right nutrients

    Personally I think the handling of the cute bunnies are rough. Trying to keep the bunnies facing the camera by constantly picking them up or turning their heads are mean. You need to allow them freedom and not be tyrannical for the camera. Poor bunnies!!!! I stopped watching the vid beginning midpoint. I couldn’t.
