I work there and am on the field daily. That is definitely Runway 4-22. I'm glad I saw this video, in all the years I've worked there, I've never witnessed an aircraft use it. Thanks for posting.

"4" is visible on the runway between 1:37-1:44.

It's common now, have seen quite a few of them. Even went to the DCA webcam to confirm it :)

It's due to a lot of the restricted airspace and all that fun stuff. Flying into or out of DCA requires strict approaches that pilots can't deviate from or else it's big trouble.

Rwy 4 is pointed straight towards the national mall which as Dan mentioned is in restricted airspace. Lots of steep right turns to avoid the mall area.

Something you don't see every day. I've seen planes land on 33 in the past. No takeoffs, though.

they use 33 ALL the TIME FOR both takeoffs and landings 15 they hardly ever use anymore.

I was on a plane that did approach to 1 then circle to land 33. Pretty crazy sharp left over the Potomac. Sadly, I did not think of filming it.

I think because there are places in DC under restricted airspace that pilots had to turn, especially White House.
