Volkswagen Beetle R-Line review : A more brutish Bug?

- A couple of years ago, Volkswagen pretty much admitted what the rest of the world knew: the Beetle, once the people’s car, had become a bit of a girl’s car.
So it went to great lengths to make the new one more masculine, giving it a few sharper lines, making it much better to punt around, and ditching the vase for your gerbera.
Now it’s injected another dose of testosterone to create this: the Volkswagen Beetle R-Line.
So, has Volkswagen made a more brutish bug?

Oh pls ....This is not a girls car is a people's car.... People need to get over the VW beetle stigma. This car looks great handles well and is a great competitor to the mini and fiat 500. Not to mention great fuel economy and relatively comfortable quiet ride.
Have a 2018 beetle dune in sandstorm yellow. No problems in 3 years with many compliments. It's a people's car. Love my bug!
I dare ya to call my Beetle R-Line a girl's car to my face.......I'll 60 ft ya hardcore. LMAO. With Apr tune you can be brutal with this car. Drive one for yourself and see. Wait, so in Australia the Beetle R-line is only aesthetically different and has the same engine as the regular bug and not the 2 liter turbo?
Yeah unfortunately, but at the least the 1.4 TSI twincharged engine they used for it from the golf gt is about the same power (approx 10hp difference) as the US 1.8 4 cyl and 2.5 5 cyl. The supercharger makes it feel like driving a 1.8 in lower rpm. Would have been nice if they did a 2.0 GTI engined one though, missed opportunity.
"Beetle's don't have the best reliability".. I've spent over $8k on repairs in the last 2 years... reliability issues is right.
