I was able to get this to work using the Metra 70-8114 harness, hooking up to the atoto unit as you directed. However I think I have a software/hardware issue within the atoto unit, because only 3 out of 5 buttons would program.
It turns out you have to wire in two resistors. The seek- and mode buttons have too low of a resistance and it wont register on the Atoto unit. Wire two resistors INLINE with the wire. I wired in a 220 ohm on the yellow/black wire, and a 2k ohm on the violet/white wire. Atoto confirmed this was the correct way to fix the issue.
The Atoto a6 only has 1 ground wire and 2 steering wheel control wires. Did you plug the ground one into the steering wheel plug harness or the same harness as the power connectors?
TLDR: Atoto Steering Wheel Control # (+) to Toyota PURPLE AND WHITE (middle one) Atoto BLACK GROUND to Toyota White/Red stripe Atoto Steering Wheel Key + to Toyota Yellow/Black line
@@thenextceo go to settings, find steering wheel controls, On the atoto - select the button you want to program (IE Volume up), and then press the corresponding button on the steering wheel (IE Volume Up)
I've tried this on my 2015 Tacoma non JBL and it does not work. I've heard that I need to add a resistor to the wires for it to read the right voltage.
I will appreciate if you can share the harness connecting to the two main connectors. Are you using 70-1076? I can see the small connectors has 5 wires including yellow and red, but the 70-1076 has 4 wires purple , green out, how does that work? Thx!
For anyone who was in the same boat as me, I got my 2011 Toyota Tacoma buttons to work with the ATOTO A6 this way: First, I bought this harness: www.amazon.com/dp/B0064J4LOM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_DlAOFb57N53Y4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 You don't need the harness but it makes it so you don't have to cut wires on the car harness and it also doubles as a way to keep the AUX input your car came with. When you get this adapter cut the 6pin jack with the AUX wire off, and strip the end of those three wires. For the wire on the adapter that plugs into the yellow and black wire of the car harness, you need to cut it and add a 220 ohm Resistor INLINE. For the wire on the harness that plugs into your violet and white wire on the car harness, you need to add a 2000ohm resistor. Without the resistors the Mode and one of the Track buttons won't work. Once you do this, wire the ATOTO Steering Wheel + wire into the harness wire that is tied to the yellow and black wire and wire the ATOTO Steering Wheel +# wire to the harness wire that is tied to the violet and white wire. The remaining white and red wire is the ground. It is the black wire on the harness. The harness has a secondary wire split off in it, I cut this away and fused it back together as one wire. Cut the Chasis Ground wire on the ATOTO and fuse it back together with the harness's black ground wire joined in. If you want to use the AUX input on the harness just plug the white and red RCA cables into the R and L audio input jacks on the ATOTO unit. Once you finish all of this wiring all five buttons should work. If you have the right side steering wheel controls, I'm not sure if that's just part of the same 3 wires or not.
Hey I got a 2010 tacoma and same radio. I'm having issues with the SWC and its bugging the crap out of me. I wired it the same way you did but still nothing. Any suggestions?
Alexander Calpo this is super simple. Return that metro access module and wire it directly like I show from head unit into the factory steering wheel harness. It’s literally 2 wires
You have to go through the settings to find steering wheel controls and select the function of what you want each button to the steering wheel to control. Each button can only control 1 function. Select function and press steering wheel button to sync.
Thanks.The door beep though. Aahhhh!
Sorry bout that. First video

renuco612 the ground can be plugged into a common ground. Any will work as long as it is a verified ground
So the "chassis ground" out of the atoto harness can be used?
TLDR:
Atoto Steering Wheel Control # (+) to Toyota PURPLE AND WHITE (middle one)
Atoto BLACK GROUND to Toyota White/Red stripe

Hey, great information! May I ask what is the exact model number of your Atoto head unit? Did you have to buy the Metra "dash" kit?

What are the volume control voltages and maximum voltage to Atoto?

Plug your seat belts in (and/or duct tape your 'door ajar' switch) and it will eliminate that beep...

No sir. No programming. Just used wiring from head unit and went directly into the wiring harness on factory steering wheel controls. Super simple
