Since you asked for feedback, I'm with Michael: There's much to be said for a finished job done with your usual care. Restoration is an admirable goal but need not be an unshakeable rule. Thanks for another interesting video, Billy.
I tend to agree with Michael as well. Although you'd like to restore it to its original beauty, I don't believe the amount of work and money it would take would be completely worth it. I think that could be put toward fixing other items that are much more important. If it's not broke, don't fix it, so to speak 😏 Crack on to more worthy issues 🥰
I agree with Michael on the room. Remember to clean the glass before reinstalling. Are you still a fan of EcoFlow, haven’t heard you speak of them in a while.
You have so many rooms to finish Billy. I would leave the room as it is; the wall being removed is also part of the chateau history. Looking forward to the wallpaper. It’s going to be lovely!
You know, the removal of the alcove is also a part of the chateau's history. I assume that you have no shortage of alcoves elsewhere in other bedrooms, may as well leave this one alcove-less. I think Michael has the creativity to decorate around the loss.
Billy, the bedroom is coming along well. The Bedroom next door is nice as well and will look amazing with that wallpaper! I love it! So, I would just let Michael go ahead and wallpaper it. Period. As a guest room it will be perfect and no one will thing negatively if you don't put that feature back. Too much work!! How happy Gwen will be to see these two rooms completed! Crack on!💕
Since you are asking for comments on the bedroom I would suggest just paint the wooden area and put up that beautiful wallpaper. The room will look absolutely stunning. Don't mess around with the layout, it will look amazing as it is, and you really don't need to add any more work for yourself just yet than is necessary. You are doing a fantastic job. I am sure Gwendolyn will love having it completed and it will make a beautiful guest room. 😊
I think the room is fine as it is - it sounds like it will be a random guest room. Once the beautiful paper is up and furniture added, it will be a very cozy, pretty room!
Michael has the best idea, just paint and wallpaper and leave the room as it is. It'll look lovely and Gwen will be really pleased to be able to use the room for guests.
I also agree with Michael. Just paper, paint and decorate. The room will look beautiful. No need to tear things apart when it will be lovely as is. On another note both you and Michael are looking great.
Billy and Michael, Old houses are quirky. I love the quirkiness of the room AS IS (structurally). I say go ahead with the current plans and move on to the next project. This saves you some time and money now, and you can always change it in the future if needed.
Leave the room as it is, just paint it and get that lovely wallpaper on. You have other rooms with alcoves, this shows a journey of change and adaptation, it’s part of the narrative of the house.
Leave it as is. Make do with what you have to create a lovely room. You can also put a railing up and drape a fabric alcove if you want an alcove. Billy, you look amazing, Michael to. Dont know what you did but you both look healthy and happy!
I also agree with michael. It's subtle enough that no one will notice without looking for it. Get the room done and move on. It'll always be there if by some rare chance, you are in need of a project
Leave the room as it is and finish it. As for the differences in paneling, put furniture along the walls and no one will ever notice. Thanks for putting out a video. I so enjoy them. Hugs!
Leave that second bedroom as is. It's much more spacious than with a closed in alcove, plus you are likely to damage something if you start trying to alter the panelling. And it will be finished more quickly (which might please someone)!
Leave the room as it is - no one will notice but you and the family. Anxious for you to get back to the convent and the library project there. Keep up the great work! And looking forward to Simon returning. Also you were going to show us the progress on Simon’s house in France. Wish Simon would start his own channel! Please suggest it to him!
You look so slimmer Billy makes you look younger .Glad to see our Michael back I have missed him he is so charismatic. Can't wait to see the decorated room such lovely wall paper .x
I agree with a lot of viewers and Michael leave it as it is, plus it makes it more open. With that great choice of wallpaper it will make it cozy with a boudoir feel. With the deco you can still do a canopy style top above the bed. We know Billy you are a perfectionist but you have to limit yourself no one will complain if it’s not back as it was. There are many projects a head. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Leave it as it is Billy. That is part of the home's history and it will be fine as it is. You have more than enough to tackle. No need to add to it. If anyone should complain, place them on the other side of the front door. LOL
Leave it as is and finished it. Finished is better than perfect. Don’t point out the flaws. If I were a guest in the room I wouldn’t care. It’s going to be beautiful ❤
The wallpaper is beautiful and will carry the room - no one will notice the anomalies. The open layout is more flexible for furniture layout and the random coving will give guests something to think about while lying in bed! Billy, you're looking healthy!
I agree with Michael, the room 13:42 like Billy said not going to be used often, also will save you a few £££. Can't wait to see how the terrace is getting on. The outdoor kitchen is going to be fabulous once complete.
Much as I am in favour of historical accuracy, and I personally love the idea of the bed tucked into a sleeping alcove; it seems like a lot of work for a room that is already quite lovely and flexible for decorating. I suggest just adding trim to the spot you indicated to mat h the rest and move on. Beautiful job on both rooms Billy and Michael! I am sure your Gwen is very pleased to see the progress.
I would choose to leave it - carry on with what is there and save a lot of work The integrity of original design is not important in a guest suite, they will likely never think of the original design.....decorate on !! my handsome duo
I have to agree with Michael. Get the room painted & that lovely wallpaper up etc & job done. It will look splendid 👍 .. don’t give yourself any more work Billy ☺️
I agree with Michael.. I would not tear that wall out and take a chance of opening another can of worms! No more than it will be used it is not noticable. I also noticed that you look thinner. I hope it was a choice and not because you are ill? Take care. I so enjoy all the family in this utube channel.
I suggest Michael paint the illusion of the missing panels to match the rest of the room and call it done! Michael did such an excellent job of painting feaux panels in Stephanie's LaLande. He can do it again.
My vote would be to fix up the paneling and coving as best as you can to make it appear like the room was supposed to be that way. Don't bother building back completely. Just finish the half assed job that was done before.
Love that red wallpaper. Normally I'm not very fond of dark wallpaper but that is stunning. Forget the alcove. Way too much time and cost. While I like alcoves it is nice to have some difference in the rooms. They can have continuity without being cookie cutter. Looking forward to the rest of the week.
I definitely agree with Michael. The room is already prepped & ready to be finished. Tearing out floors, rearranging pipes & building new walls seems unnecessary. I am sure when Michael gets the wallpaper up & the decorating is done, the room will be absolutely fabulous without the bed alcove, in much shorter time and much less work. Just my humble opinion.
Billy, I would not get into another reconstruction job in the bedroom. I would use that beautiful wallpaper Michael found and paint the paneling. I know you are a perfectionist but I think Qwen is probably more interested in painting and decorating the bedrooms so she can use them for her work shops etc. As long as Qwen is happy with how the rooms look that should be enough said. I think the wallpaper is beautiful that Michael showed us and just painting the paneling should complete the room along with the furniture, don't give yourself more work to do than you have to do already. Best wishes, Kathy USA 🇺🇸
Hi Michael and Hi Billy- love the wallpaper color and the painted wall- it makes the room stand out and contrast- one thing about wall paper- you don't have to worry about repainting the room. :D
How I wish I were clever enough to offer a solution but my eyes aren't trained to see what you brothers see. And both of you have great insight, strengths and intelligence to figure it out. I'm just a simple gal who likes to see projects completed rather than left unfinished. That bothers me the very most and makes me dread projects my beloved old man starts. I just want to see things finished and I go from there. YOU CAN DO THIS!
Little quirks and anomalies are what make a building, a bedroom or a home more interesting. You are doing an amazing job, no need to make it more complicated at this time.
Complete the room with wallpaper, once everything is done you can go back but these rooms, kitchen and hallway need to be completed Proud of the work being completed so far and glad the family is supporting you.
I would leave it. Having a darker wallpaper, and an addition little partial wall will only make it look smaller. Both rooms are looking great. I am excited abt how you'll decorate them. Crack on guys! 🤗
Decorate and finish Billy. You can then if you absolutely need to, in many years from now, reinstate the missing wall, great videos as always Billy, thank you.
Phew…. That as a fast click! Lol. Happy wife….. happy life! Really enjoying the chance of venue for restoration, seeing the Château being worked on is uplifting!
The room looks better opened up. You don't need to put the alcove back. Leave the paneling as is and paint it. The quirks are interesting and add to the history. Billy, you are looking great. Keep it up.❤ I love that wallpaper.❤
You make renovating a window look easy! Fascinating to see what was happening with the second room in the past (and I love history) but I agree that it could take a long time and damage the woodwork. If you decorate as is, the story is still there but you have the usefulness of the room and the extra sunlight, too, without the extra hassle. Happy days❤ 🐿 🥰 Always enjoy your videos, as I'm thinking how quickly I can DIY in France on a smaller scale. Take care, H
I agree with Michael. The room looks fine and will look lovely wallpapered. Why make extra work, and you can always do it later if you chose to, if you ever decide to redecorate in there. The yellow bedroom is lovely so far, and I am looking forward to hopefully seeing it furnished? Would also love to see the green bedroom you began months ago. If it is finished and furnished, would be great to see the end result, and talk us through the furnishing, as it sort of got lost once the convent took over.
Love the wallpaper Billy . I would agree with Michael and don’t make too much work for yourself. You’re making both of those bedrooms beautiful 👏👏xxx💕💕💕
Billy, I love how much you love and tend to the buildings. 💖 If you want a flat ceiling, I would just create a drop to level it out, and leave the alcove the way it is. My 2¢, for what it's worth in haypennies.
I agree with Michael. Leave the room as it is. No matter, I am sure Gwen and Michael will make it beautiful.
It would be the rare person that noticed any of that. Make the finishing touches extra nice.
I also agree with Michael. Leave the room as it is just redecorated with that lovely wallpaper. Keeping the room as it is, is part of its history.
Michael
I agree with Michael on the room. Remember to clean the glass before reinstalling. Are you still a fan of EcoFlow, haven’t heard you speak of them in a while.
Agree with Michael - the room looks nice as is and getting it papered, painted, and decorated would result in a wonderful room - LOVE the wallpaper
The room is fine, no reason to do something about it. Just get it decorated. I would prefer the larger room, so leave as is.
Agree with Michael. Paper, paint and finish!
Leave the room as is. Just paint and paper.
Billy and Micheal are looking great. Love seeing Micheal helping Billy again.
So agree.
I agree with Michael. Not a room that will be used much, no need too.
Leave the room the way it is. It's part of the history of the home.
Leave the room alone, don't change it.
You have so many rooms to finish Billy. I would leave the room as it is; the wall being removed is also part of the chateau history. Looking forward to the wallpaper. It’s going to be lovely!
Just decorate it. Once it is furnished you will never notice the inconsistencies. ❤
The ceiling is a problem, that's what I would address!?!
Once the room is furnished you won’t notice unless you’re lying in bed staring up at it!
It's only a problem if you consider it to be one.@@TomTomicMic
You know, the removal of the alcove is also a part of the chateau's history. I assume that you have no shortage of alcoves elsewhere in other bedrooms, may as well leave this one alcove-less. I think Michael has the creativity to decorate around the loss.
AGREE with Michael....leave the room. Great to see Michael join in as he is so talented. Would love to see his Gardener's Cottage and the Greenhouse!
I'd leave the room as is and not reinstate an alcove. The "oddities" will just be a witness of the evolution of the layout over time.
Well put! I agree 100%
Crack on!💕
I also agree with Michael. Lots of effort for very little reward. No one (maybe except for Billy) is going to walk in and say “where’s the alcove”.
Don’t fuss with it-someone staying there will never notice--put a small dressing table along the short wall and you will never see it again!!
Just paint and paper. No need to recreate the original design which was originally used to keep the bed area warmer. You got heat !!! Love your blogs
How interesting Thomas! I did not know that. So, they used alcoves to keep the heat in around the bed area? Tell me more…😊
Didn't they used to hav doors next to there beds so noone see them naked . I see it in a video on bordeaux life with Ed and Anna
Don't waste time on ripping that room apart for something that short-term wedding or retreat guests will never notice!. Great Job!
Leave it as it is, that wallpaper will be fantastic no need for anything else, you boys are looking great, and its so nice seeing Micheal
If you put the alcove back and have a bed in it, you aren't going to be able to see much of the paneling. Leave it the way it is.
Leave the room as it is, just paint and wallpaper
Billy and Michael,
Old houses are quirky.
I love the quirkiness of the room AS IS (structurally).
I say go ahead with the current plans and move on to the next project.
This saves you some time and money now,
and you can always change it in the future if needed.
I like Michael's thought. Leave the room as is and decorate accordingly.
Leave the room as it is, just paint it and get that lovely wallpaper on. You have other rooms with alcoves, this shows a journey of change and adaptation, it’s part of the narrative of the house.
I think the alcove will make the room small and dark. As it is now there is a lot of light which is lovely and will show off that gorgeous wallpaper.
Sometimes you tend to over think & overdo things Billy. Micheal is right. Keep it simple.
🙏❤
Leave the room as it is and finish it. As for the differences in paneling, put furniture along the walls and no one will ever notice. Thanks for putting out a video. I so enjoy them. Hugs!
I would not re do the alcove in the bedroom. Like Michael said, it’s a lot of work for no benefit.
Leave that second bedroom as is. It's much more spacious than with a closed in alcove, plus you are likely to damage something if you start trying to alter the panelling. And it will be finished more quickly (which might please someone)!
I agree to leave it. Don't add the alcove back. I like it with it open feel. Wallpaper is gorgeous!!!❤
I'm with Michael on this one. You definitely don't need any more additional work.
I’d leave it as a possible improvement in the future, it’s lower priority because the room works fine as a bedroom anyway.
You look so slimmer Billy makes you look younger .Glad to see our Michael back I have missed him he is so charismatic. Can't wait to see the decorated room such lovely wall paper .x
I agree with Michael... Just get it done so you can do more at the convent too...❤
I agree with a lot of viewers and Michael leave it as it is, plus it makes it more open. With that great choice of wallpaper it will make it cozy with a boudoir feel. With the deco you can still do a canopy style top above the bed. We know Billy you are a perfectionist but you have to limit yourself no one will complain if it’s not back as it was. There are many projects a head. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
PG Tips leave the room as is !!! The wallpaper etc will carry that room alone !!! Great colour 👍👍👍👏👏👏👏🇬🇧🇬🇧
Leave it as it is Billy. That is part of the home's history and it will be fine as it is. You have more than enough to tackle. No need to add to it. If anyone should complain, place them on the other side of the front door. LOL
The wallpaper is stunning. I would paint the panelling in the lighter colour of the wallpaper.
I agree with Michael. Just forget the alcove restoration and get on with the decor. That paper is very bougee….love it
Keep it simple, it's also part of the buildings history
Yes, I totally agree.
I agree with Michael. The room is beautiful without creating more work for yourself and the wallpaper is lovely.😊❤
I agree with Michael, the room 13:42 like Billy said not going to be used often, also will save you a few £££. Can't wait to see how the terrace is getting on. The outdoor kitchen is going to be fabulous once complete.

I suggest just adding trim to the spot you indicated to mat h the rest and move on.
Beautiful job on both rooms Billy and Michael! I am sure your Gwen is very pleased to see the progress.
Yes, a bed tucked into an alcove would be idelic, but for now and probably from here on, best left as is. Much more to do.
I agree with Michael. It is lovely as it is and not worth all the extra expense and work to put the alcove back in.
Rooms will be beautiful when completed! I wouldn't rebuild the alcove..leave it alone and just paint and paper it. Keep up the great work!!!
I would choose to leave it - carry on with what is there and save a lot of work The integrity of original design is not important in a guest suite, they will likely never think of the original design.....decorate on !! my handsome duo
I agree too with Michael just getting it done and put a nice big wardrobe in that area
The room is fine rhe way it is and I'm sure once the wallpaper is up it should look great. Always a great volg and I enjoy watching it.
I love the color Gwen and Michael chose! Warm and cozy. Looking forward to the bathroom renovation. Great work, everyone!
I’m with Michael just paint and wallpaper, job done !
I'm with Michael. Do a lavish bed crown with fabulous draperies to create the alcove ambiance.
Slap on paint and wallpaper then turn it over to Gwen and your brother to do the drapes and bedding, all done and dusted.
I’d love another full tour of the chateau with all the unfinished bits aswell so we know what to look forward too!!
I have to agree with Michael. Get the room painted & that lovely wallpaper up etc & job done. It will look splendid 👍 .. don’t give yourself any more work Billy ☺️
I vote with Michael. You have more than enough work to do. It will look very nice.
I agree with Michael.. I would not tear that wall out and take a chance of opening another can of worms! No more than it will be used it is not noticable. I also noticed that you look thinner. I hope it was a choice and not because you are ill? Take care. I so enjoy all the family in this utube channel.
Michael is right, its not perfect but unique. The red color is amazing, give the room an sweet love theme 😅😊
I'm loving the color of the bedroom, very sophisticated
I suggest Michael paint the illusion of the missing panels to match the rest of the room and call it done! Michael did such an excellent job of painting feaux panels in Stephanie's LaLande. He can do it again.
Woohoo! Enjoy seeing the Pethrick brothers working and explaining plans and ideas.
Michael looks great! So nice to see him!
My vote would be to fix up the paneling and coving as best as you can to make it appear like the room was supposed to be that way. Don't bother building back completely. Just finish the half assed job that was done before.
Very smart using the lift as a safety catch! I love the room as is. I vote to leave it open.
My vote :Leave the room as it is. I enjoy projects which are completed quickly. I love to see you both back working together. 😉😍

I am sure when Michael gets the wallpaper up & the decorating is done, the room will be absolutely fabulous without the bed alcove, in much shorter time and much less work. Just my humble opinion.
I think it would look nice by painting the paneling and just hanging the wallpaper.
Hi Michael and Hi Billy- love the wallpaper color and the painted wall- it makes the room stand out and contrast- one thing about wall paper- you don't have to worry about repainting the room. :D
Michael is right, it’s a lot of work for a room that isn’t significant. Use the energy and time to start something else that NEEDS to be done!
Just paint and paper. It will look great!
I recommend leave the panelling and layout as is, repaint and wallpaper. Replaster the ceiling to level out the inconsistencies.
Complete the room with wallpaper, once everything is done you can go back but these rooms, kitchen and hallway need to be completed
Proud of the work being completed so far and glad the family is supporting you.
I would leave it. Having a darker wallpaper, and an addition little partial wall will only make it look smaller. Both rooms are looking great. I am excited abt how you'll decorate them. Crack on guys! 🤗
I love how fresh and sunny the colours are
Such a magnificent wallpaper! Nobody will ever look at the ceiling anyway with that wallpaper, so let Michael do his magic with the room 👌
I agree with Michael why fix it if it not broke . a lot of work would be needed . Lots of painting to do with Yanis Billy so looking forward to that.
Keep it up.❤
I love that wallpaper.❤
You make renovating a window look easy! Fascinating to see what was happening with the second room in the past (and I love history) but I agree that it could take a long time and damage the woodwork. If you decorate as is, the story is still there but you have the usefulness of the room and the extra sunlight, too, without the extra hassle. Happy days❤ 🐿 🥰 Always enjoy your videos, as I'm thinking how quickly I can DIY in France on a smaller scale. Take care, H
I’m with Michael. The average person won’t spot the difference. Love the wallpaper. Y’all are moving right along now. 😊❤
Making progress Billy & Michael... You two are a great team 🤗
I agree with Michael. Just fix the cracks, sand, paint and paper so it’s finished. Love the wallpaper ❤❤❤❤❤
Billy, you & Michael are dropping the lbs congrats! Ozempic?
Ah I wouldn’t put the wall back, to much work for very little reward. Cheers Kirk
I hope it's not Ozempic! Plastic surgeons are raking in the big bucks undoing the damage it does to people's faces: it makes them look years older!
I would leave the room as is. It's a nicer size, visually, as it is. Love the wallpaper!
