TY so much for thinking of us and recording this reno. I've been looking forward to it since the first time you showed us the basement and told us your plans! Also super excited about Michael's plans for the dumb waiter. The only downside to that kitchen is that you're underground so you don't get the stunning views. It's still an excellent reno and part of the chateau history. Yanis is doing an amazing job!
I agree with other viewers; the white does brighten up the space. Have a wonderful holiday Micheal!
I feel like the metal should be painted a beige or cream color to brighten up the space and tie in the warm colored flooring.
Well, once Rick starts applying actual paint, and not primer, the color options are endless. 😊

Yes it does brighten up the space. Only the tiles seem beige, so... but instead of white, the supports (etc) could be a hue of light blue.

You must still be in awe when you go back to the Convent kitchen. The Chateau reminds me of Downton Abby series. Such a magnificent building.
Priming metal is absolutely "no fun" but once done and ready for the "real" paint it is pretty easy going. Rick's doing great. Yanis - wow. I have a lot of admiration for this man--willingness to learn and ultimately quite skilled. It takes talent to do those vaulted ceilings. Bravo. Michael the dumbwaiter is going to be great fun to get up to working condition. Enjoy Beatrice and the Lake Country and we hope to see some drawings for purchase as prints.

I'm glad you guy's decided to put the primer on the bare metal. I was really cringing just watching sandblasted bare metal expose without the primer. You guys just avoided a disaster. This coming from a Journeyman Painter. Anyways have fun on your holiday Michael.

When I was a small child we lived in an apartment building in New York City. My dad was the building superintendent. There was a manually operated dumbwaiter that was used for residents to send down their garbage each evening. Dad would hoist it to the top floor. After it was filled the residents would lower it to the next, and do on. That was in the early 1950’s.
So thrilled for Yanis- a skill that can take him to so many places. A wonderful skill that patient Simon brought out in him. And Billy your gift of drawing 'team' together and bringing out the best in people!!! The kitchen already looks incredible...and Michael have a well deserved holiday in a place you love and will draw out your creativity. Well done guys

Honestly the basement kitchen is starting to look so much better already I can't wait to watch your progress over the next few weeks. Hope you have a great holiday Michael. I'm only an hour from the lake district as I live in north east lancs which is only 45 mins from Lancaster so doesn't take much longer from there. My older brother lived in Bowness on Windermere there and I have 😂a friend that lives in that beautiful area of the world.yannis's plastering is Awesome.

As others have mentioned, the white looks great on the metal. But I can totally see the black metal with crisp white ceiling and walls.
People can also use the “call bells” in their rooms to order morning coffee or whatnot. 😊

If you like horses, Greenbank Farm, Cartmel has wonderful Fresian (black beauty) horses that you can groom, have a coffee, a chat and give loads of scratches and love! Their Friendship Barn is great 😊

Like most of us, I am so curious as to why Michael stopped his videos. Whatever it is, I hope he can overcome it! Great work Michael
He had a lot of online bullying, and if you watch his old videos he had troubles with another famous chateau couple that had a TV show and it had a negative effect on him, it was quite shocking, and awful and he stopped making art. He is a very special multi talented person, but also has a very big heart, we are lucky that Billy has persuaded him to work on the kitchen, so we see him for now at least.

Loved the curved detailing by the wall and between the beams, how it looks scalloped. What a beautiful thing to see! Never noticed it before the walls were replastered.
Billy you gotta build a conservatory over the patio on top of the kitchen would be awesome place to put lemon tree and plants and will always keep the kitchen down below dry!

what you need in this kitchen i a few trays of herbs . especialy rosemarie. would looks so lovely in windows and on the island. or a big container of flowers. on the table. Because the flowers add color.

I have been thinking about the beautiful Convent Kitchen. Does it need to "Pass Inspection" before it can be "officially" used and open? November and the holidays will be here before you know it. How about potentially scheduling some pie baking classes for the 1st whole week in November? Apple, Banana Cream, Cherry, Pecan, and Pumpkin Pies. People would love it!

I don’t think Michael enjoys doing videos anymore! I think he got so much negativity that it burnt him out! His talent is behind the designing and paintings! I’m sure he could make money for the chateau that way!
