We need Mario & Luigi back.😢
Exactly
it's actually the best and most consistent Mario rpg series
Nahh I care more about paper Mario
Paper Mario isn’t bad but compared to Mario and Luigi, paper Mario stands no chance
No
I think an important thing to note here is that just about none of the promo material has called this a remake. Theyre marketing this like its brand new, giving it an equal chance to something like Origami King or any other new game. Its like they're saying "fine, if you think it'd do so well now, we'll give it the best chance we can. Prove us wrong." I'm excited to finally play this game
NSMBUDX sold 3 times more than the actual Mario U, and I'm sure that was advertised as a remake, despite it essentially being a port. Also everyone is already stating that this is a remake, so newcomers might already be told. Regardless, this is likely to get many more sales than the original, much like SS and OK.
@saltendo2177 yeah, I'm not denying that people *know* it's a remake, but the fact Nintendo isn't *treating* it like one shows they want it to have the best chance possible
@@retrorebootmusic ok, that was where I was confused
Paper Mario should DEFINITELY go back to being an RPG.
💯 percent
It was always an RPG though- well, outside of Super Paper Mario anyway- but I agree that it needs to be more of a PM64 and TTYD-style RPG than a Sticker Star/Color Splash/The Origami King-style RPG!
@@BigAlvideos101Sticker Star wasn't an RPG. I skipped Color Splash cause it was looking more of the same as Sticker Star but there were no RPG elements in Sticker Star. It may have been turn based but that was it, there was were no stats you just use stickers which is basically attacking with items and since you gained no experience from battles it was worth avoiding most battles to just to keep your best stickers for bosses.
@@ChrisMS0815 Yes it was. It was just a different type of RPG- being more of an action-adventure strategy RPG, but it has turn-based combat, which is something that only RPGs have! I've played the game at least 15 times since it released, and I've never skipped a battle in all my playthroughs!
@@BigAlvideos101 No it's not, being turn based doesn't make it an RPG. Your taste in games is trash if you played it 15 times, I couldn't even get through it once and your lying if you say you never skipped a battle. Who are you trying to fool?
I hope they keep the art style of stuff like origami king, but add memorable characters and a meaningful story again.
Exactly origami king mastered the visuals but God is the gameplay lacking
@@StrudlAnimationsOrigami king perfected the sticker star formula gameplay wise. Sadly sticker star formula can only go so far, compared to the one from the first 3 games
PD: There is still potential though, like the paper mache enemies. If they didn't want to come back to the RPG roots, then don't put half-baked elements into it and ditch it entirely, embrace the action adventure combat instead, since it fits that formula much better.
I like the blend of the TTYD and TOK styles in the TTYD remake more than either of them individually
Yeah nah I rather have the ttyd and super paper artstyle
Yes,artstlye of Origami King is the best in the series
I should clarify here that the survey was NOT officially released, but leaked on the Paper Mario subreddit and fans got ahold of it. The likely reason that Nintendo closed it is because they were getting waaaaay more responses than they hoped to. Unfortunately, I can see this being a case where Nintendo doesn't use the data here due to being flooded with potentially biased responses (the reason the email was so spread out to begin with was probably to avoid all that) and the tendancy for surveys that have been made public to end up botted to the extreme, rendering said survey useless.
There’s not enough time for the boys to bet set up so I doubt it either way they’ll see the majority want more paper Mario rpgs.
Kinda like what happened with super paper marios survey.
@@KurumithespiritnightmareYeah. If People actually cared about Super Paper Mario’s Story and Writing, we could’ve gotten better stories in the Modern Paper Mario Trilogy, and I don’t hate the Modern PM Trilogy but their stories in those 3 games could’ve been better.
@@AquaNeptun3 Agreed i definitely think they could've been better with their stories in the modern games, and yea it wasn't really nintendos fault that they thought people didn't enjoy super paper marios story imo. if people weren't so upset with it over shadowing the game play in the first place they wouldn't have gone in this new less story like direction.
@@Kurumithespiritnightmare yeah I know it’s not Nintendos fault if people didn’t enjoy the story, it’s more of the peoples fault than Nintendos ngl
As long as they don't make another sticker star I'm happy
FR
Facts
ngl i love sticker star and pretty much all paper mario games as they are really different from eachother but i can see why thats a problem and i agree with not wanting this to keep going
or another color splash and OK then we are good. 64 ttyd need another spiritual traditonal rpg successor
@@alphy8268Color Splash was another Sticker Star. It actually made some things worse even. Origami feels like it was a weird in between that didn't know what it wanted to be.
Rawk the hawk? I've never heard anyone call him that.
I wish that was his name.
Sounds like a sonic character name
I think he was trying to avoid saying raw kawk
Feel the RAWK!!!
What the Rawk...Is Cookin!
i got a heart attack from the thumbnail, i thought it was gonna be something bad 💀
Lmao same then ive read the full titles of the videos lol. 😂
I’m super excited to relive this game! Really hope we get an original rpg-esque sequel too!
I mean the other games somewhat have their place. But 64, Ttyd & SPM all just have that spark of something so unique and immersive
The survey scares me, purely because we got screwed over last time by one. Plus, depending on the answers people give, it might give Nintendo the wrong idea about what players want since some of the questions are limited to a certain selection of answers(they have an 'other' section but who knows if they'll be reading all of those).
Praying that we get a true successor to the classic Paper Mario games that can deliver not only the gameplay and creativity we've all been waiting for, but also deliver on the dialogue and overall vibe the originals gave us, which is what Im scared for the most tbh.
I can't believe I never got the chance to do that poll.
Also, it's about time Nintendo actually listened. If only they knew the words, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" when it comes to Paper Mario.
ikr
They're not fixing ttyd, they're improving it while giving people more opportunities to play it
@@ddlcfan2763 They don't mean TTYD. They were talking about the Paper Mario Formula as a whole. Nintendo tried to fix what ain't broken and they broke it, giving us at least two TERRIBLE Paper Mario games and RUINED the crossover between two of the best known mario rpgs
@@sora654able1Two implies that either Super Paper Mario or Colour Splash were bad. Comment voided.
@@cooljrgaming9729super is worse than colour
I wish Nintendo would bring Dimentio and Count bleck back
Ain't Dimentio dead?
As much as i Love dementio i like dieter from the inside story side mode more he's my favorite mario original character of all time imo.
I think it would be cool if they made cameos but I wouldn't want them to be the main antagonists again unless they were in a remake of SPM. Nostalgia baiting is kind of a problem in the industry right now, especially with Sega.
Nah keep bleck dead he had his happy ending but dimentio absolutely
@@CuteRedPanda64man is just in the underwhere, but he could very easily escape I bet. Also we could just get a remake too :P
I need a new Mario and Luigi game, that's it
Yeah! And a Partners In Time remake for the Switch, too!
@@thedraftingax5963 I'd prefer Dream Team, but Partners in Time is also ok
@@Baylan-Skoll I agree with that as well. One of the best games in the series.
I’m hoping they use this poll info to make games that players will enjoy, the original Paper Mario trilogy was fantastic and most of the M&L games were amazing. I really hope they bring the energy of the old games into their new projects
Except paper jam. We don’t talk about paper jam
@@killedbycrit i liked Paper Jam
Remakes and remasters are one of the reasons I chose to come back to Nintendo.
@@LisaVGG The only thing in Paper Jam I liked more than playing the game normally was glitching and sequence-breaking the game. It is very fun being able to go through any wall just by running in a corner, lol.
Since they’re making the characters look to be made out of card stock in this it could be cool to see other characters made out of stuff such as, say, newspaper
Super Mario RPG needs a sequel and a new Mario and Luigi game.
From what I read, the first Paper Mario is the sequel to it.
Paper Mario IS the sequel.
You know, while I was happy to see older Paper Mario fans finally get what they want (I started with Origami King, it was really good from the perspective of someone who didn’t yet know about Paper Mario’s history, and I still think it’s great), I didn’t have any intention of purchasing TTYD. After this video however, I might be convinced to try this out and learn more about Paper Mario’s history
Something Nintendo is gonna REALLY NEED to do is make the remake so good people will want to buy it instead if getting the original TTYD for free by sailing the seas,I do not see the remake doing as well as Nintendo hopes if it's not worth the 60$
Sailing the seas lmao
I agree with you if they don't want to receive backlash from not adding anything new like super bros u dx did Man I Even Was One Of The Major Backlashers, for the ttyd remake to make people want to buy it for $60 they would definitely need to add something extra to the remake like a boss rush, or luigies story as a post game, otherwise it'll just be all bark and No Bite like super mario bros u dx was God I Hate That Useless Remake.
Casual reminder that Mario 3d all stars games performed better on emulator then in their official capacity. They are never gonna outperform emulators. They never have and never will. They make money because of the good will of their fans because everyone knows there is a better performing and cheaper option.
I really liked color splash.. sure it had similar battle mechanics as sticker star, but the dialogue was hilarious and charming, and I actually do find the game somewhat challenging.
Agreed. I also loved that game, despite its cons and bad reviews of the game.
@@thedraftingax5963 I never go off reviews. My interests and likes are so simple sometimes that it isn't necessary.
@@novafiregalaxy204 Same here. I avoid reviews since it isn't worth checking them out.
Battle system was trash. As people have said it's a really bad game wrapped in really good writing.
@@michaelepica3564 Agreed. True.
this gives me hope for a super paper mario sequel
OG paper Mario
That's amazing news I'm crying right now I'm so happy!!!
Are you still crying?
@@NickMario1 Not anymore but that's amazing news.
Honestly, both thounsand year door and bowsers inside story are like the two best Mario rpg's we ever gotten and its not even close.
Definitely agree with you on that ttyd's the best game in the paper mario series as well as the remake for inside story is my favorite game of all time, mainly because it added other stuff that i wanted like bowser having a boss rush unlike in the original game and fixing dumb mechanics that ruined certain fights in the game mainly the mic gimmick for the giant fights thank God that was changed to a button man i Majorly prefer the remake version of inside story and the side mode is even better in all areas story, music, battle system, characters exc literally a perfect side story to inside story lmao.
😭 thank you Nintendo thank you
6:26 Yea I agree, every mario game already has an archeology site, circus, military fort, coliseum and a michelin restaurant to name a few.
I may have a LITTLE bias towards CS but honestly while a lot of areas were old, it wouldnt be fair to call them all boring uninspired basic mario worlds
Since Origami King, I started being very optimistic about the series. I’m a paper Mario veteran! I loved how origami king got so many things right and finally, after a decade (ss and cs) , TOK seemed to introduce so many positive changes (old and new) and I hope that the new PM games follow the classic and TOK route!!
Mario and Luigi was great paper Mario is epic #bring back the classics
Paper Mario TTYD is most likely a testing ground to see how well the old formula will sell to inform their future design decisions for the series.
It barely sold. The new ones sold 4 times more

It seems as if Nintendo thought we only loved Paper Mario for it's artistry & unique gimmicks. But they didn't think about how much we loved the story & characters. Something that you don't see in the Mainline games often. That's what makes Paper Mario so good. Is that it's not your typical Mario game.
I am hoping for a whole brand new Mario & Luigi Game Adventure for whatever year because we have just been getting remakes of their previous Stories. Their last brand new Story was Mario & Luigi Paper Jam. Which was the total amount of 8 or 9 Years ago… It’s time for a New Mario & Luigi Adventure to start happening on the Nintendo Switch.
Finally will get a chance to play TTYD excited, also hopeful for the surveys to have good results!
Hopefully they'll remake Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time next, I haven't played that game, but I've seen walkthrough videos and honestly it's a pretty awesome game
I cried when the switch version of TTYD was announced, it's my favorite game of all time. I hope Nintendo finally listens to the fans and does this franchise justice.
I agree with you i was so excited to see the ttyd remake hopefully tenobay or whoever it is that doesn't want to listen has come around and sees why we love this series so much, and if it's anyone who ruined the series it's myamoto as sticker star was originally like ttyd but he stopped the devs from making a true sequel and had them change the series to where we are right now and it just really sucks. 😔
Now we just need golden sun and mario and luigi back
I am so hyped! I preordered the physical copy of the game so I can share with my friends and family
I’ve played Paper Mario before with Color Splash (and I haven’t completed it yet), but I realized it’s not the Story that we love, but how the game works and how mysterious the world can be that Makes you explore.
I don’t know how to express my huge gratitude for Nintendo bringing back this iconic game, its franchise and the future of paper Mario.😌🥰
Me neither! I give them my thanks and support for bringing back one of my childhood games to the Switch!
I really hope we get a remake or even just a rerelease of Super Paper Mario. I know a lot of people don’t like the format it took on but it’s a childhood favorite of mine!
same
I played Super as a kid and there were things I liked about it but honestly, we could do without it.
A re-imagining of the game using the settings and story but changing the gameplay to be more akin to the first two games, rather than a bland platformer with minor RPG elements, could be cool though.
@@100organicfreshmemes5 with how the way the game plays out, you can't just keep the same story and world and whatnot but change the system of battle without basically creating an entirely new game, so thats not likely. I personally would love to see super, and honestly porting or remastering it would be an amazing idea. If people wanna play games like paper 64 or TTYD, play those games. They're both gonna be on the switch. But super would still be there if people who wanted to enjoy the story and the game itself wanted to play it. (Not tryna argue or anything I'm just really passionate and it rubs me the wrong way to see people kinda dismiss super because it's not an rpg)
@@Mega-Gamer-Natehell yeah my man
It has to be the deepest story wise and has a special place in my heart
I get that people don't like sticker star, color splash (and yeah they are bad in comparison to the first three games) but how likely is it that they bring back Super Paper Mario as well? (I really hope they bring it back too 🙏)
This poll is very corporate, but the fact that they are even asking shows that corporate wants to see what the fans actually want
One wish I do have is that they change up some recipes to favor more hp healing. I revisited my original game a few days ago and my current best healing item is the Shroom Roast you get from a Mushroom and Fire Flower.
I truly believe that Thousand Year door is a work of art. It’s the reason why people resonate with it so greatly because they remember how it made them feel when they first played.
The characters overcoming their personal struggles along with community and national issues with the help of Mario resonate long after you finish the game.
You see that Mario didn’t just save the world, but he saved real people with real issues along the way. That is why we desperately want a return to this model!
I'm glad that Nintendo is putting Thousand Year Door in the Nintendo Eshop!
I played some of Origami King, so I can't wait to get TYD!
I think they're releasing it on April 27th or something of this year, but I may be wrong...
I can’t believe that I’m saying this but there’s is a glimmer of hope for paper Mario and the rpg franchise.
I want Super Paper Mario or something like it to return. Sure it doesn't have a battle mechanic but it had a good story and levels. I like the idea of just using your pixl partners to kill enemies easily and the 2d to 3d gimmick it had.
ture and it battl story is steel better then the newer paper mairos games
I really hope we get a paper Luigi game soon. Anyone who plays thousand year door can remember Luigi and the whacky partners he had throughout the story. Imagine we get an expansion with Luigi and his own story
I could not take the survey, but I quite excited for more diverse paper mario settings in the future. But to be honest, origami king and super were excellent to me.
as someone where the closest thing to a paper mario game I have played was bug fables, I'm excited for this game to come out
Because you created this video, I’m even more excited.
All they have to do is reinstate Ryota Kawade as game director and put Aoyama in a far away corner and pay him 6 figures to staple documents or something. The latter straight up went "its the players who are wrong" when faced with a tsunami of "you dont get it"
I have to say, for what it was, I really enjoyed Color splash. Especially the humor and the art style. I also loved origami king.
But the return to ttyd is more than overdue❤
I'm excited to finally play it!
Seeing pokemon mystery dungeon amongst the series mentioned in the poll gives me a bit of hope
I actually liked the world, stages and writing of Color Splash. I enjoyed that game a lot.
I have to wait till next month to get the game

I've been a Paper Mario fan for a long time over a 10 years, Paper Mario Sticker Stars on 3DS was my first Paper Mario game what's now over a 10 years old game when it turned in last year, Color Splash on Wii U was my second Paper Mario game, Sticker Star on 3DS is a little bit better than that, because it's on 3DS with dual screens and have a better Story. Paper Mario Origami King on Switch was my third Paper Mario game and man I really love Origami King, it's beautiful art style and amazing story maybe the Best Story in Paper Mario games of All Time after The Thousand Year Door the Best Paper Mario game before Origami King my Personal favourite. After played Paper Mario Origami King what is that amazing game on Switch i'm afraid there's no coming a new Paper Mario game for a while, but it's so an awesome Nintendo Gamecube game Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door HD Remake is coming to Switch already in next month may, I've never had a Nintendo Gamecube so it's great TYD is coming to Switch, it was Nintendo's Biggest Surprise in last year's last direct in 2023. What's wrong with the legend of Zelda?
This shows that if we come together and fight for change we can even make corporate overlords like Nintendo listen to us.

it would be cool if they somehow recreated Super Paper Mario with the battle system and overall world layout of TTYD, of course keeping the story in Super. a turn based Count Bleck fight would be awesome
Super Paper Mario was my first paper Mario game. I love it and glad it was made, though I do understand people waiting for a return to form. Also I didn’t play the paper Mario games after super because they didn’t look good or didn’t have the systems. So if they go back to old battle system that’s fine with me, just wanted to say super is phenomenal to me.
i did that poll at the right time. I have luck
I need a paper mario remake now that we get legend of the seven stars and legend of the thousand year door
Im looking forward to this and yet I hope super paper mario gets the same treatment
Supposedly, they dropped the RPG format for Paper Mario because of a pool (One they did back in the days)...
Apparently, the results of said pool showed that less than 1% of people cared about the story heavy format. I always found those results VERY suspicious.
Who did they survey? How many people did they survey? Did they picked a group of people who wasn't even interested in Mario games to begin with?
This is why surveys don't work unless you make sure you're surveying a BIG group of people!

bro calling a survey a poll is wild
you better go back and check Flurries design lol
Feel like the natural evolution of Mario RPG's is Paper Mario AND Luigi, a three part system with the bros and fill in selectable party members, certain segments of the game can split Mario and luigi and stick them with each of their own parter, and bro moves could be reinvented with Paper.
they already did that in 2015
I wonder if the "less than 1% of people who said they cared about the story" was just an "other" category where you could write anything, and THAT'S where a few people incidentally mentioned the story. Not knowing that apparently the fate of the franchise was at stake, and if they didn't speak up about liking the story, Miyamoto was gonna interpret this as permission to completely gut out all creativity in the writing. Thanks, Nintendo.
i love paper mario color splash it was amazing
Honestly, the perfect Paper Mario Game is a combination of TTYD Gameplay, Super's Storytelling, and Origami King's puzzles and having alternative gameplay. Also increased humor like how Origami King does it.
Origami King gave us 3 different battle styles. Regular Ring Battles, Boss Ring Battles, and then Overworld Battles with Paper Mache enemies. That was alot of fun and honestly I prefer that than the standard TTYD battle formula.
So far the remake hasn't revealed anything new to make the game worth it for me. Heck, they haven't even revealed special amiibo's for the game, and I feel like that would have been even cooler. Having an optional/special upgrade for your TTYD partners or a special costume that is Amiibo Exclusive, or even a special set of battles that focuses on that partner alone, would have been cool. A Hard Mode for the game, Luigi's Side Story... More ways to alter Mario and his partners, More Yoshi Colors... Boss Rematches or a Boss Arena using Glitz Pit or Tec himself, where he recreates various bosses in a holographic form. (we know he can do it with how he creates a Holographic Peach for her to Dance to for him) So far the only "new" thing they have showed us is that one Purple Toad in the Glitz Pit, and I have a feeling that Toad is just gonna be nothing at all, and it's gonna be really sad when the remake we got is seen as just an HD port.
Honestly... this is where a Paper Mario 3d-allstars collection would have been way smarter for them if that is the road they are going.
Paper Mario = Star Fox
Stop changing what doesn't need changing and go back to what worked!
-Fans of Paper Mario and Star Fox

-Star Fox Fans
The reason of TTYD being so good and loved is beacuse it was an expansion of the first game, same system, same badge mechanics, same of all but with a new story and characters, thats why it was amazing, so good that the sequel got even better, the secret to a good game is to expand and improve the same formula, not trying to re-do it since Super Paper Mario, sadly for Nintendo the saga of Paper Mario is just Mario and the world being of paper, while for the fans is the world, rpg progresion and the history begind it.
More like overrated and it barely sold on GameCube
OK SO I GOTTA SAY ☝️
super paper mario was NOT trying to be a redo. people always forget this but it was not originally planned to be for the Wii. it was going to be released in 2006 for the gamecube instead before being moved later in development. this is VERY IMPORTANT. they wanted to differentiate it from ttyd. so they modeled it after bowser’s sections and made it a platformer. and then it moved cosoles. was it the right decision to try and differentiate it by changing the genre? up for debate. but i will not stand for people forgetting that context and acting like spm was where they decided to start switching it up constantly. because it was switched up for a very different reason than the other games.
I feel like they shouldve sent out this survey a few months after the game comes out. People who have never played the game but plan on playing it or even people who have no interest in it are gonna get this survey and maybe not give the "best" answers because they have no opinions on the game
Hello, how is everyone’s day going?
Better now that you asked😅
Mine's great! Thank you for asking!
Nintendo also made valve remove all the Nintendo characters on gmod's workshop
Would have loved to fill that put but I sadly have to wait for the Next console. I waited to long on this one after my WII U fail.
However this will be cool.

I’m very excited for the remake but I REALLY hope there’s an option to make everything look less shiny, it makes certain areas look weird in my opinion.
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is the best game ever
Most overrated
I'm saddened I couldn't participate in this survey. I WANTED TO INFLUNENCE THIS
No Mario and Luigi?
Super Paper Mario deserves to be seen in the same light as its two predecessors, it’s just as good… I definitely prefer Thousand Year Door to that one but it’s still very much playable.
it as different, but good-different.
Nintendo thinking they need to reinvent everything with every new game is why we haven't seen a new F-Zero game since the Gamecube.
Give us a color splash remake and im sold.

I am truly Sad that Tomodachi Life isn’t even getting a remake or a sequel to this game from 2014
